    Propaganda videos posted this week on channels affiliated with the Taliban show soldiers in the little-known Badri 313 Battalion carrying U.S. and U.S. ally-made weapons and gear that appear to be stolen from allied militaries while patrolling parts of Kabul.

    The video on the lack of starter homes was insightful

    Zoning laws are the local rules and regulations that decide what types of homes can be built where. These rules can sometimes have good intentions. But they also have a dark history in the United States as a tool to keep certain races, religions, and nationalities out of white neighborhoods. And while zoning laws in the US are no longer explicitly racist, their effect remains basically the same: to keep affordable housing, and the people who need it, away from the wealthiest Americans.

    I don’t know how to lessen the greed and bigotry that keeps the common sense changes from happening. Most everyone from my boomer generation loses their mind when there is a hint of zoning changes that might allow greater density. It might let “undesirables” move into the area and lower their property values , So they block it.

    It will be interesting what happens when Millennials pry the levers of power from Boomers. Will they change zoning or keep the exclusionary zoning that benefits those few who were able to get homes.

    But the thing about dynamic zoning is that while it does a better job of protecting property values over the long run by sustaining investment, it also offers a means of increasing utilization and yes, density. Although that term can be very misleading.
