    As much as I have disparaged religion here and think of it the way I do, I believe in forgiveness and a person redeeming themselves. Sure it can be “tricky” to say that in the sense of believing that in all instances – say for an example with a cold blooded crazed killer – who will not admit guilt or isn’t remorseful – some people deserve to be executed as punishment beyond being locked up, if they can’t admit guilt or be remorseful for their actions.     I know – I agree – this all sounds crazy, but there has to be a little bit of compromise. And if we are just going to war back and forth, we get nowhere and just get further apart.     Yesterday, at work, I found three $20 bills and two $5 bills on the ground in the building lobby at the entrance to the elevator lobby.

    I work on the 1st floor of a 35 story building and was on my way up to one of the other floors higher up in the building where the company I work for has additional space.

    It was around 11:00am. Walking to the elevator lobby, I pass the 30 foot long security/reception desk, where three security guards sat. To the left of the security desk was the entrance to the elevator lobby, where you have to pass thru security turnstiles as you scan your employee badge. On the floor was the money, someone must have grabbed into their pants pocket for their badge and dropped all the money, and it must have happend just before I got there because it gets quite a bit of foot traffic all day long, but nobody was there waiting for the elevators.

    At first I thought I should return it, but then I was like well who do I return it to? The security guards? They’ll probably just keep it themselves? So I was going to keep it – I headed into the elevator lobby and was going to hit the up call button. But as I made that decision, I looked up and a there was security camera directly above where I found the money. So knowing that I was on camera and it probably recorded me finding the money, that I should return it. And at that same time I thought to myself that maybe since there could be video then that they could find the rightful owner, which made me feel better about returning it.

    So I stepped back towards the guards and handed it to them telling them that I just found it on the floor and maybe they could review the security tape to find the rightful owner. I also jokingly said that if they don’t find the correct owner that I want half back.

    Although the guard asked me my name and who I worked for I never did here back if they found the rightful owner.

    Oh well. It was the right thing to do. But I could have been greedy and took my chances of nobody ever taking the time to bring it to the guards attention, if they even knew where they lost their money.

Presidential candidates pushing for wealth taxes who have a real shot of getting elected and implementing those policies.
