    Friday night, while transferring MAX Trains in Downtown Portland, got to admire Pioneer Courthouse Square, seeing how what had once been a classic hotel, then a parking lot, now become a civic gathering spot.     Judge allows Georgia to remove inactive voters from registration list

    U.S. District Judge Steve Jones denied an emergency request to stop Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger from removing more than 120,000 voters off registration lists who may still live in the state but hadn’t cast a ballot since before the 2012 presidential election.

    Georgia is one of nine states that has a “use it or lose it” law in regards to voter registration.

    The lawsuit was filed by Fair Fight Action, a voting rights group founded by Democrat Stacey Abrams after she narrowly lost last year’s Georgia governor’s race amid concerns of voter suppression.

    It’s the story of Mark Graham…a man who said in a television ad that he voted for Donald Trump in 2016 but would not vote for him in 2020. Yesterday we reported that voting records reveal that Graham did not vote at all in 2016.

    During an interview yesterday with reporter John Last, Graham told how he, a registered Republican, became involved with a Democratic political action committee’s ad campaign to discredit the president.

    A colleague successfully defended a transpo agency some years back. A metered on-ramp. Plaintiff was struck from behind by a commercial vehicle while waiting for the signal. Commercial driver was insured by Travelers. He was eating a sandwich, responding to a text, and drinking a Mountain Dew simultaneously when he accelerated into the plaintiff’s vehicle at 50 mph.

    Plaintiff was 25, recently married, college grad with a good income. Very active in church and community. Played in a local band and worked part-time on the side recording and producing other musicians. Youth minister in his church. Played sports. Worked out. Handsome. Athletic. Very popular. Really nice kid. Nothing but blue sky.

    Appeared in court in the Captain Pike chair. I don’t know which of his cervical vertebrae was broken, but I do recall it was a low number. Was going to spend the rest of his life in that chair, or in a special bed. And he was expected to live a pretty long life. But not with his wife. She left. And not with most of his friends. They came around. But less and less over time. They felt weird talking about the ski trips.

    He needed 24/7 skilled assistance, a special house filled with all kinds of adaptations, special car with driver, lots and lots of regular PT and OT. Travelers wanted to claim he was partly to blame because of the heavy sub-woofer. The one in the back of his car when it was stopped at the ramp meter. The one that launched into his spine at 50 mph.

    Not sure if Kiplinger’s magazine is any good or if it’s as good as Baron’s but in the January 2020 issue of the magazine there is an article by Anne Kates Smith, called “Where to Invest – 2020”,

    In that article it states – “The best returns, 14% annualized, come under a Democratic President and a split Congress.”

    They show a chart of annualized returns under various scenarios of a Repuke or Democrat president, with a split Congress and an opposing party control of Congress. In all scenarios, the combo with a Dem President beats out the Republican scenarios, with the exception of a Republican sweep against a Democratic sweep. But even that scenario doesn’t beat out a Dem President with a spilt Congress, that scenario still beats a Repuke sweep by 1%. A Repuke sweep only gets 13%.

    But dumb people don’t believe in the facts, according to RBC US Equity Strategy, Havel, who provided the info, but first they even need to know the facts.

    In Occupied France, the Germans rounded up entire villages and shot ’em, women and children included, as reprisals for partisan activity in the vicinity. This was supposed to deter partisan activity.

    In 2019, Trump’s minions rounded up infants and toddlers, and incarcerated them in cages with concrete floors, without adequate food or proper medical care, and some of them died. This was supposed to deter their parents from crossing the border.

    It would be great if the Ds take the Senate, but they’ll have to flip at least 4 seats for a tie or 5 for a majority, as I can’t see Doug Jones hanging on in Alabama (unless Roy Moore is his opponent).

    There wasn’t a question on the Senate impeachment vote, but I’ll post my prediction here: 45 yea, 55 nay. I see Manchin and Jones voting for acquittal, and no GOP defections, as the most likely outcome. I’m not sure about the “no GOP defections,” though. There might be a couple, if McConnell can’t completely rig the trial.

The one exception was when my urine samples were showing a minor trace of blood – about 10 years ago. At the recommendation of my physician I went to a urologist who did a cat scan. One of my kidneys showed a growth. This doctor immediately said it was a tumor and that I needed to have an operation. I told my father. My father said – get a second opinion. So we do (he goes with me to the appointment). My father has polysystic kidney disease, which makes it more than likely that 1 of his 3 kids has it or will have it too. So the second doctor says, no, no operation, just monitor it for growth and change. So for 5 years I have an MRI done annually. No change(s). I come to NYC 5 years ago and see another urologist before my NYC physician is going to continue to perform MRIs. That doctor says nothing’s wrong. I sure hope the other two are right. But the first guy (Indian guy – not that it matters – he worked for reputable Hospital affiliation – wanted to cut me open on the spot).

    By the way I stopped taking a blood pressure medicine and the blood in the urine stopped. I swore it was the blood pressure medicine but the doctors were saying no.

    But other than that one guy. I love everyone of my doctors. Especially my dentist (but that’s another story). I feel most comfortable with my doctors. Most people’s blood pressure goes up at the doctors office….mine goes down.

    GE is one of my larger positions, and I’m comfortable with the idea of holding onto it. It’s a solid company today and I think it will emerge from this transition as a stronger company down the road.
