    @3 As Texas cities are growing leaps and bounds, I assume it’s the barren red county wastes that are depopulating and will lose the seat.

    Every once in a while I still see a posting by some young buck who puts up an almost solid-red map of the United States showing how the counties voted in a recent election (choose one) and then argues electoral votes should be apportioned by counties, not states. In other words, these yahoos think a county with a few hundred farmers living in it should have as much say in choosing our presidents with, say, Cook County, Illinois.

    You hear this kind of whining in eastern Washington, too. They have two-thirds of Washington’s land area and counties, but only 22% of the state’s population, yet they claim they should run things in Olympia because they’re two-thirds of the state.

    These people couldn’t pass a 7th-grade civics quiz, let alone a citizenship test. The naturalized immigrants they’re continually bashing because of their unfamiliar skin color know more about this country than they do.

    Yes, Virginia, it’s possible to grow up never seeing anything but cows and not knowing anything except how to fuck goats and sheep. That’s what today’s Republican voters are.

    That, Doctor Dumbfuck, is how we got Trump.

    Usually, if FTA funds are used, a transit agency has to keep a bus at least 12 years. METRO usually goes longer than that. On a transitfan forum, a poster has been using one bus away and various other tracking apps to see if the last Gillig Phantoms at King County Metro have been retired. Looks like the 40fters have been. Only one had been signed out in recent months, 3430, and that one has gone over a week without running. If it is the case, this ends the service of a class of nearly 400 buses, first ordered in 1995, when hybrid and battery electric buses were not around, two technologies that are replacing this fleet. This would leave the New Flyer D40LFs of the 3600 series, and 4 30ft Gillig Phantoms of the 1100 series as the last straight diesels in the KCM fleet, and those are beginning to be retired.
