    John Deere share price is currently $165.03.

    Calls with a strike price of $195 and a September expiration are trading above $2.

    The market thinks that DE could climb 18% in the next 5 1/2 months, and is willing to pay investors to give up gains above that level should they occur. Deere and CAT are linked pretty closely to the Chinese economy, and both are deleteriously affected by tariffs on their exports to China.

    A substantial number of people in the market must think that Trump will be successful in his trade negotiation efforts with China.

    A regional Russian bank owned by a former U.S. congressman had its license revoked Friday for violations that included breaking rules against money laundering.
    Commercial Bank of Ivanovo, in which Republican former North Carolina Representative Charles Taylor owns an 80 percent stake, regularly broke anti-money laundering regulations, misrepresented the size of its provisions and used “schemes” to artificially inflate its capital, according to a central bank statement.

    Taylor represented North Carolina’s 11th district from 1991 to 2007. In his freshman term, together with Newt Gingrich, he was part of the so-called Gang of Seven that investigated a House banking scandal that fueled the perception of corruption in the lower chamber and helped usher in a Republican majority.     Taylor went into a business partnership to buy the bank with an active GRU agent, and former deputy of the Supreme Soviet, Boris Bolshakov, back in 2002. Taylor was running for his sixth term in Congress at the time. He was worth a couple million tied up in timber land at the time.

    Oh, and BTW, the bank’s license was revoked by Russia. Think about that for a second or two.

    Taylor started out as a tree farmer who ran some cattle on the side for show. In the span of only a few years in the early 2000 he increased his net worth on paper from a few million (mostly land) to over $70 million making him one of the five wealthiest members of Congress. And it all started with the Russian/KGB money.

    A guy I went to college with found himself in a similar boat around the same time (all about getting the money out of Russia safely before civil authority could prevail). He went into shipping. His “partners” set him up in import/export through the west coast into Magadan. He was the majority shareholder on paper. Behind it were the loans from the Russian “individuals”. These individuals dressed exclusively in black leather coats and had faces marked with more scars than a metro bus shelter. Each time they visited they packed a shipping container with Jeep SUVs and firearms.

    We warned him repeatedly.
    But he had a fiance who was a wannabe architect with very expensive dreams. And he was truly smitten. To the best of my knowledge, they still own him today. But like Trump and Teh Dumbfuck, he too is divorced and fairly bitter about it.

    But in order to do that they needed to move a lot of it out of Russia fast. And in order to do that they needed “partners”.

    Cutouts like Taylor see their paper assets suddenly explode. And that creates access to finance on an exponential scale. The Russians were generally okay with that back in those days. They allowed their partners to use their money on paper. But it remained their money. The problems arise when the cutouts get greedy and either take too much risk, or just skim. That’s especially true these days. Most of the Russian dirty money now has lots of strings attached and they expect a piece of your action. Usually a big piece. And they don’t accept excuses. That’s the nugget of the trouble that Manafort was in.

    I think I understand how President Sundowner’s paranoid framing of the re-election conflict serves him personally. He gets to proclaim himself a winner no matter what the outcome. And in keeping with his personality and motivations, when he loses he gets to continue to punch downward at browns, and poors, and “animals” and “Teh Derp State” for “cheating”, “stealing” and “destroying murica”.

    But it seems to me that this approach would by necessity entail real disadvantages to his base going into the future. While their beloved Cheeto Benito sails off to Mar a Lago for the last time to finger fuck pre-teens, count his Russian money, and yell at his television between rounds of golf, it would cast them permanently in the role of “powerless victims” with no legitimate outlet for their frustrations. Normally that kind of structural setup results in a steep drop off of energy and turnout. It’s a very high stakes gamble and the downsides weigh most heavily down ballot.

    That should be fun. If it ever happens. Immediate result is this thing they call “diskubbery”. CPD would have to turn over all records pertaining to the investigation and the cops and prosecutors involved in the underlying criminal complaint.     I have no idea whether Smollett’s claims about the attack are true or false. I’m pretty sure something is very fishy about all this. Cops and prosecutors don’t just roll over on shit like this. And this kind of civil complaint seeking reimbursement for an investigation usually comes after a criminal conviction for false reporting, etc.

    Judicious application of Occam’s Razor would suggest that the reason Cook County dropped the case was owing to some pretty serious defects in the underlying investigation, bordering on police misconduct. Sadly enough, merely routine shitty police work is seldom a good enough reason to decline. Prosecutors will proceed expecting to plead down. All the more so when the case is media notorious.

    But if Cook County has reason to believe that an adequate defense will produce evidence of actual police misconduct, especially in the era of Brady*, and especially with media attention, they’d want to drop the charges in order to protect other important prosecutions and convictions. The sad truth here is that, once again a relatively powerful and wealthy defendant, Smollett, has probably purchased his own freedom at the expense of a bunch of innocent, poor, black defendants falsely accused by corrupt CPD and railroaded through an equally corrupt system on the basis of fabricated evidence.

    That might be what they are all trying so hard not to talk about.

    The pattern that is emerging within the GOP is very interesting. I’m not sure if it portends how the 2020 general will take shape. Of it it just reflects the current state of President Sundowner’s emotional and mental state. But what I see week after week is the GOP’s Trump surrogates and leaders taking the fight into the media on the important stuff, and leaving it to President Rage-tweet to promote the distractions and culture wars smoke screens.

    If nothing else it indicates where his fears lie.

    I would speculate that the reason is the GOP really wants to take the election into a whole different realm of chaos and sadism when it comes to border security and Nielsen was not able to deliver.

    The WALLL!!! SHITDOWN!!! CRYSISS!!! has provided them with enough A/B testing data to feel relatively confident that this is an issue they can rely upon to produce dollars and turnout. But my guess is they need the situation to become much more unstable and much more chaotic and violent. Nielsen may have been simply too competent.

    Cutting law enforcement and humanitarian aid to central america was part of this. They’ll probably use the CIA, DEA, or DIA to promote some new additional unrest and violence in the region as well. But they also need the CBP activities abusing and mistreating the refugees to become much more visible and grotesque in order to get more media attention.

    Although it took her a little while to find her footing and implement her policies, Nielsen was actually doing a halfway decent job of concealing a majority of the CBP rape, beating, torture, starvation, and other forms of mistreatment. She just never seemed to understand that wasn’t her job. So she had to go.
