    Update (Nov, 16): Christopher Rufo and his wife Suphatra have released new information about the harassment that led Rufo to end his campaign for city council in District 6.

    Suphatra wrote a long post about the decision, which was shared on Rufo’s campaign Facebook page. In the post, she shared a bit of her background as an immigrant and her choice to move to Seattle a decade ago, “for its culture of diversity, inclusion, and economic opportunity.” She also describes encouraging her husband to run for city council, and the subsequent onslaught of negative messages they’ve received in the past two months.

    “Since we launched the campaign, I have been harassed, cyberstalked, and intimidated. Activists in the housing and bike community have sent me messages saying that my husband is a white supremacist and sending us links to white supremacist sites. We have been called white nationalists, fascists, alt-right, and right-wing extremists.”

    Well, there was that one time I kept Goldy from making a fool of himself when he was previewing on HA a letter to the editor of the Seattle Times about estate planning. That was pretty correct, I’d say. Goldy would probably agree.

    Friday, King County Metro will have all buses that safely can pull over, halt at 3:20pm in remembrance of the Aurora Bridge Massacre. This will mark the 20th anniversary of Metro driver Mark McLaughlin being shot while driving coach 2106 on Route 359, inbound to Downtown Seattle, from Aurora Villiage. He did his best to maintain control, but it was a losing battle. The bus then rolled off the bridge. I have heard somewhere, that if the bus had gone off the bridge in the middle, it could have been worse.

    @49 If the bus had gone off the middle of the bridge, it would have dropped 167 feet to Lake Union, instead of landing on the roof of an apartment building, and nobody on the bus would have survived.

    Mrs. Rabbit used to take that route to work. About a week before the incident, a bus driven by McLaughlin pulled up to her stop, but she wouldn’t board, and instead just “stood rooted there with fear” from a premonition. After the incident, she began driving to work and never rode a bus again.

    On an intellectual level, I don’t want to believe in this kind of stuff because there’s no rational basis for it, but I’ve had things happen to me, too, that I can’t explain away. I’m still not saying I believe in it. All I’m saying is I don’t know.
