While the GOP Nazi/KKK crackup is plenty satisfying for Real Americans and will undoubtedly pay off electorally in the long run, it may also prove very, very risky.
Fuckface is now isolated within his own party, who though they still support his leadership, must distance themselves from his rhetoric for their own sake. It is now clear that Fuckface will never pivot away from divisive, bigoted, hateful rhetoric. As a natural bully who learned it from his father, Fuckface depends upon attacking any source of discredit or disagreement. And in order to attack he can only use the tools he has available. Through the repeal fiasco he has lost the legislative agenda as a tool. Those threats and bullying tactics, having been turned away by female junior Senators, are obviously impotent. He has now fired his entire senior staff, may be unable to replace many of them, and the effect of these firings has become routine and unremarkable. If anything they make him look weak. He is rapidly losing his populist bully pulpit, as media companies appalled and repulsed by his naked racism gradually refuse to cover him on any other terms. He can’t afford to outflank his own party by reaching across the aisle. His base will not permit it.
This leaves Fuckface with only two tools with which to dominate and inflate his bully image. One of them is obviously racism. And that is why he will not soften his remarks on the #TrumpCar terrorist attack.
But the other is the military.

Sound familiar?
Thing is, for nearly fifty years whenever “moderate Republicans” went around doing basically if not the exact same shit as Nazis then certainly supporting it, we recoiled from calling them out on it. We bent over backwards to be “fair”. This is the result.
Nobody should call for violence against this Nazi. But the Real Americans should know exactly who these people are and where they live and work. And we should all stop pretending that Nazis, KKK, and their supporters are some aberrant, basement-dwelling fringe located in a remote rural compound. They are precisely who this Nazi says they are.

Roger Rabbit spews:
@11 Well, I don’t remember them, because it happened before I was born, but we have language and imagery to preserve what happened so that we and future generations may learn something from the experiences of the past. Of course, this presumes a learning capacity, which not everyone has. It’s easy to tell who does and who doesn’t. Good. This is a very critical time for Democrats. Vast numbers of Fuckface voters are moving beyond uncertainty toward profound regret about their decision last November. Where and how this very appropriate voter regret results in suppressed turnout will be decisive next year. It could tip the balance in The House.
Republicans and conservatives who authored the Fuckface disaster in a hundred thousand ways for the last five decades must be made to own this failure entirely. They goose stepped their way farther and farther out onto this ideological limb. They should be granted not one single inch of room to retreat. Fuckface is their guy. They chose him overwhelmingly over dozens of alternatives. There was never any hesitation. And he was absolutely then everything that he is today. Nothing about Fuckface has been “revealed” that wasn’t openly on display throughout their campaign. Today conservatives and Republicans are living the future they yearned for and fought tirelessly to bring about.
This Presidency is exactly what they wanted. They will not be allowed to pretend otherwise.

It’s all about priorities:
“As anger mounted in Israel last week over President Donald Trump’s ― and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ― response to the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, the country’s communications minister urged Israelis to prioritize their support for Trump over their denunciation of neo-Nazis. Speaking to The Jerusalem Post on Thursday, Ayoub Kara, who was handpicked for his ministerial role by Netanyahu in May, said that Israel must defend Trump, who he described as the ‘best U.S. leader Israel has ever had. Due to the terrific relations with the U.S., we need to put the declarations about the Nazis in the proper proportion,’ said Kara …. ”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/.....mg00000009
Roger Rabbit Commentary: So, what exactly is “proper proportion” (i.e. perspective) concerning the murderers of six million Jews? Apparently he means supporting Trump is more important than criticizing Nazis. This should go over well with Israeli voters. At least one can hope. Also, notice the interesting double entendre when Benjy says Trump is the best U.S. leader Israel has ever had: A Muppet puppet comes to mind, except Muppets are smarter than Benjy’s puppet.

Netanyahu is a holocaust denier. He’s made several claims in the past that the German pogroms weren’t as bad as history describes and that several of the more obscure massacres probably never really happened. He has the support of the hardline rightist Yeshiva schools that are mostly in the business of creating military officers and militarist Rabbis that spend their lives living on welfare.
He’s not even an ethnic Semite. He’s a descendant of eastern Europeans who were partisans that fought against the Soviets during the War. Which means their allies were the Nazis.

I’m not suggesting obstruction. Democrats will need a majority somewhere to make such a strategy worth discussing. But in order to hasten the emergence of Democratic majorities it is imperative that we refuse to accommodate the regularly recurring maneuvering of “moderate” conservatives when they try to back away from the extremist, hateful, bigotted, destructive political posturing that they always resort to the minute they sense themselves losing ground. If we continue to grant them the rhetorical space in which to “reinvent” conservatism yet again, this pattern will continue to repeat itself. The jury is still out on whether we will survive Fuckface. The next time will only be worse.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@22 You misinterpreted my comment @16. Some Republicans are blaming their inability to pass legislation in a Republican-majority Congress on Democratic “obstructionism.” Democrats, of course, have no obligation to vote for the Republican agenda. I was simply being sarcastic when I said you don’t need “Democratic obstructionism” when Republican dysfunction can block the GOP agenda all by itself.

Who pays taxes?
According to CNBC, individual taxpayers pay 4 times more than corporations — $1.6 trillion vs. $400 billion. This doesn’t count Social Security and Medicare taxes, which are split roughly equally between employers and employees.
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/21/ron-insana-tax-reform-tax-cuts-waste-of-money.html
Roger Rabbit Commentary: The GOP tax cut mantra makes little sense. They claim it will spur investment and hiring, but that’s largely nonsense. Companies are sitting on cash and not doing anything with it; tax cuts most likely would go to stock buybacks and dividend raises. Unemployment is low and companies can’t fill 6 million jobs due to a worker shortage. In short, cutting corporate taxes will do nothing for the economy and their only effect will be to make the federal deficit worse. So why are Republicans pushing so hard for corporate tax cuts? So CEOs and major shareholders can buy more mansions, yachts, and private jets, of course. To hell with the deficit, they can always fix that by cutting Medicaid and food stamps to lazy dark skinned people from Africa who came here without visas 200 years ago.

Republicans have made much of recent Democratic special election losses. What they don’t say is this occurred in solid red districts where Democrats formerly had no realistic hope of winning but are now in play because the GOP margin has narrowed drastically.
Some pundits also claim the 2018 senate map is hopelessly stacked against Democrats and the only question is how many senate seats the GOP will pick up.
But CNBC reported today that a leading Wall Street advisory firms is telling its clients the GOP would risk lose both houses of Congress if an election were held today.
The same firm predicts modest tax cuts will happen, but tax reform won’t — given Republican divisions, that’s a bridge too far.

Just watched Drumpf’s Afghanistan speech. He did a good job of reading a script that explains what Obama’s policy was. Except Obama never planned to help himself to Afghanistan’s resources.
That’s probably not a good idea. Afghanistan is one of the world’s poorest countries. Beyond the military airfields built by Russians and Americans, and a few hospitals built by the French, it has almost no infrastructure. Not a single railroad, no factories, very little of what the country needs to build a functioning economy.
I don’t think they can spare what they have to help pay for Drumpf’s Secret Service protection on his (58 and counting) golfing trips.

http://www.motherjones.com/foo.....out-seeds/
Roger Rabbit spews:
The Atlantic’s take on Drumpf’s “new” Afghanistan policy is that it’s a minor reformulation of what’s already been tried, and is unlikely to produce different results:
“A U.S. troops increase has been tried before ; aid conditionality and other forms of pressure have been applies to Pakistan to try to get more cooperation in depriving Afghan insurgents of sanctuary; and various inducements have long been used to try to get the Afghan government to bring down corruption and address other popular grievances. Reformulations of these same measures are not likely to produce greatly improved results.
“If the president were to launch as serious initiative to achieve a negotiated settlement of the conflict, prioritize on a par with the military efforts, that would be something new and potentially promising.”
https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2017/08/trump-afghanistan/537474/
Roger Rabbit Commentary: Missing from Drumpf’s speech was any mention of negotiations – precisely what Lauren Millier, former U.S. special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan says is the key to ending AFghanistan’s internal conflicts. Instead, Drump talked about “victory.” We heard this before – during Vietnam. How did that work out?
Those who study military history – there’s no evidence Drumpf does, but some of his advisers undoubtedly do – understand that battles rarely go according to plan. (See, e.g., First Battle of Bull Run, when D.C. picknickers flocked to the front to watch the Union Army kick Beauregard’s ass.)
That’s because enemies have a habit of upsetting plans. Then wars acquire a life of their own. From a broad perspective, history teaches those willing to listen that military “solutions” almost never achieve their stated aims. (Just ask Jefferson Davis or Adolf Hitler.) One of the things we should have learned from Vietnam (and the Russians from their own adventure in Afghanistan) is that superior hardware and firepower don’t determine outcomes.
Does Drump really understand Afghanistan? The country – its topography, people, culture, politics, conflicts? I didn’t see evidence of that in his speech.
The fact is, nobody has ever conquered Afghanistan, after 2,000 years of trying. Afghans are stubborn people. They do things their own way. Governments have little sway there. It’s a deeply fragmented tribal society s ruled by clan ties, religion, and ancient custom, hostile to foreigners, not open to change.
The best way to deal with Afghans is by leaving them alone.
