Not exactly. They’re Crackerjack tokens. See, e.g.:

“This is a pin for the Israeli civil guard, a branch of the Israeli police that serves as a sort of neighborhood watch since terrorist attacks in the mid-1970s. At other times, Clarke has worn a badge for the Israeli traffic police.”
“A pin from the National Rifle Association.”
“A small replica of a 19th-century U.S. Secret Service badge.” (Pretty sure he didn’t serve in the 19th-century Secret Service protecting Lincoln or Grant.)
“A pin depicting a baby’s feet, signifying support for the antiabortion movement.”

’cause that cash probably won’t be coming from the DNC.
One of the party’s most influential activists is unsparing in his assessment of the old-school approach that has left Democrats crippled in Washington. “The party is broken and irrelevant – until proven otherwise,” says Markos Moulitsas, founder of the Daily Kos, which is emerging as a grassroots giant in the Trump era, helping steer millions in small-dollar donations to candidates. “Instead of wondering why these groups aren’t acting,” Moulitsas says, “we’re taking the lead and mobilizing our base.”
When I reached him in early May, DNC chair Perez didn’t paint a rosy picture, admitting that much about the party is broken. He sounded an apologetic note that the DNC is early in its reset – “I’m nine weeks into this,” he says – and lacks the resources to fully implement his goals. (In its latest filing, the DNC reported just $10.5 million in cash and $1.8 million in debt.)

Republicans pushing so-called “tort reform” often claim our courts are clogged with frivolous lawsuits. This is sheer nonsense. Lawyers are required to vet lawsuits before filing them, can be sanctioned if they don’t, and nearly all lawsuits are legitimate. However, occasionally a frivolous lawsuit does come before a judge. Here’s an example of what such a lawsuit looks like:
“A federal judge threw out a lawsuit against Hillary Clinton by the parents of two Americans killed in the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, ruling the former secretary of state didn’t defame them when disputing allegations that she had lied.
“The lawsuit also alleged the former Democratic presidential candidate’s use of a private email server caused the death of their sons, Sean Smith and Tyrone Woods, because it exposed terrorists to sensitive information.”

Jackson cautioned that she was not opining on the appropriateness of Clinton’s use of the private server or on whether what she said publicly about the Benghazi episode in its immediate aftermath.
“Nothing about this decision should be construed as making any determination or expressing any opinion about the propriety of the use of the private email server or the content or accuracy of the statements made by the Secretary to the family members or to anyone else in the days following the Benghazi attack,” the judge wrote.
…
For the purposes of the suit, “it…does not matter whether Secretary Clinton used a private email server lawfully or unlawfully.

University of Missouri enrollment to decline more than 7 percent; 400 jobs to be eliminated
For undergraduate enrollment, the university in the past has tried to explain it as a combination of smaller high school graduating classes in Missouri, better recruitment by schools in other states and the aftermath of the November 2015 demonstrations and resignations of system President Tim Wolfe and Columbia campus Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin.
The university has studied the issue and now sees that it is almost all due to negative publicity since the demonstrations, said Pelema Morrice, vice provost for enrollment.
“It is clear from what we learned thus far that the vast majority of our undergraduate enrollment concerns are closely tied to our public perception issues throughout the state and throughout the country,” he said.

Seems bystanders could have waited until the next stop, and see if one of the parties get off the train.

@34 Someone properly trained probably would not pull a weapon in the situation, It would not be self defense here, but protection of another, though it’s likely our theoretical good guy with a gun would not have viewed the knife and would not have been able to intervene. Perhaps there was such a good guy and things went south and not being personally threatened he did not go for his gun, following proper training, and should be acclaimed a hero with a gun, So is there photos or video of the incident?
Looks like the prosecutor has a win on their hand because of the weapon charge.

Some phone calls are made, and unfortunately the other side may be incommunicado. So the attorney goes forward and files the case and does discovery and only then finds the laws. Depending on what the attorney does then would decide if he could be told bad lawyer by the court and possible fined.

Kinda disproving your point there, don’t you think?
No, of course you don’t. Because to simply admit that no self-respecting capitalist entrepeneur was ever anything but a devoted job destroyer would obliterate your whole bullshit schtick. Employees, like all costs to production, are to be minimized and, if possible, eliminated in all circumstances. Marketplaces respond to increased costs. Employers do what yhey always do.

the truly awesome thing is, this Hillbilly-Traitor perv’s theory of self-def would be predicated on the stipulation that it’s perfectly okay for a white man to aggressively harass and threaten two non-white women. This kind of unspoken assumption is what lies at the heart of modern conservatism today. These kinds of beliefs are so encoded into their DNA that they are generally unaware of them. And they take it as an insult if anyone bothers to point them out.
The Wisdom of PissCan spews:
I always find it amazing that pro nuke energy advocates (typically more so part of the Repukes conservative platform) always tend to ignore or so easily overlooked the immense costs over runs and time delays with construction of such projects and related projects such as the disposal of the waste. People from Washington state should be more so familiar with this being that Hanford is in your backyard.
If Democrats were more so proponents I’m positive this would be an issue.
They never let similar overruns with transportation projects go quietly unnoticed.

@82 Delays and cost overruns are the least of it. I wouldn’t trust the U.S. nuclear industry to mow grass. They are venal to the core — faking inspection paperwork on bad welds, etc. Little has changed since Karen Silkwood. Would you buy a car from a Russian Mafia chop shop? That’s what our nuke plants are like.

Shit. Poody is back pooping in the HA threads.

“People from Washington state should be more so familiar with this being that Hanford is in your backyard.”
A more direct lesson learned in our state about nuclear cost-overruns should be the WPPSS project, commonly know as WHOOPS.
“In January 1982, the WPPSS board stopped construction on Plants 4 and 5 when total cost for all the plants was projected to exceed $24 billion. Because these plants generated no power and brought in no money, the system was forced to default on $2.25 billion in bonds. This meant that the member utilities, and ultimately the rate payers, were obligated to pay back the borrowed money. In some small towns where unemployment due to the recession was already high, this amounted to more than $12,000 per customer.”

WHOOPS was so bad, it makes Sound Transit’s cost controls look good.

Right. ‘Cause there’s alllllmost no difference at all (especially if you squint really tight, pucker up, and punch yourself in the face twenty times) between a duly sworn Commander in Chief meeting privately with counter parties to sensitive negotiations that he’s Constitutionally empowered to undertake, and a sketchy Trustifarian private citizen arranging to use the clandestine communications services of a foreign adversary to advance a conspiracy and obstruct justice.
Almost no difference at all that any traitor can see.

@88 just pickup an issue of ENR and you’ll come across many examples of projects related to Nuclear Plants and related energy projects that have enourmous cost overruns and 10’s of years late. It’s more common than not. But it’s not like there aren’t any alternatives (eyes rolling).

@ Steve @ 88
I worked in a shop years ago with a welder who worked on the WPPSS project in (I think Satsop) for several years. His job there was a “not-welder”. His job was to go to the site every day at the beginning of his shift, check in, punch the clock and go home. He shared this position with hundreds of other workers whose job it was to come in, punch in, and go home until the shift ended. As they were paid for 12 hour shifts, plus something like guaranteed mandatory 20 hours overtime per week, they were making a shitload of money. His job was paying him $26.00 an hour, for almost four years. Back in the early 80s that was goddamn good money. He told me about making enough to buy two houses, one in North Seattle that he still lived in at the time and a place on the peninsula that was 100 acres of berries and lavender , a large sport fishing boat and a new car every year. Plus, he built a private business, a mobile welding operation that he was still operating part-time whilst he worked at the hydraulics shop we were in.
The purpose of the work was to rack up costs for the company, which were recompensed by the State and Federal Government. They made about double his wages for every hour he “worked”.
He knew it was a scam, everyone he worked with knew it was a scam, and they didn’t care because they were doing pretty damn well for themselves.

LOOKS like the BC Green Party will back the BC New Democrats for the next provincial government. Problem is BC Liberal premier Christy Clark is still in charge until the Legislature is recalled to Vancouver following the last election. She hasv43 seats, Green support gives the NDP 44 seats in the 87 seat legislative assembly.
