    Kind of like Darryl said, the GOP has legitimized bigotry and racism. Aside from starting with racism conspicuously, in my opinion it didn’t really become legitimate until they began bigoted bigoted towards gay people and made it legitimate. It became and is acceptable to being bigoted towards gay people, why not take it to the next step and include the Muslims now, and then eventually back to the Jews and the Blacks?

    White supremacist groups see Trump bump

    The Ku Klux Klan is using Donald Trump as a talking point in its outreach efforts. Stormfront, the most prominent American white supremacist website, is upgrading its servers in part to cope with a Trump traffic spike. And former Louisiana Rep. David Duke reports that the businessman has given more Americans cover to speak out loud about white nationalism than at any time since his own political campaigns in the 1990s.

    As hate group monitors at the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League warn that Trump’s rhetoric is conducive to anti-Muslim violence, white nationalist leaders are capitalizing on his candidacy to invigorate and expand their movement.

    “Demoralization has been the biggest enemy and Trump is changing all that,” said Stormfront founder Don Black, who reports additional listeners and call volume to his phone-in radio show, in addition to the site’s traffic bump. Black predicts that the white nationalist forces set in motion by Trump will be a legacy that outlives the businessman’s political career. “He’s certainly creating a movement that will continue independently of him even if he does fold at some point.”

    I’m perusing the “Jobs” section of the Sunday Seattle Times that I picked up free at the public library this weekend. I always read about this subject to get a sense of what the working class is going through (and putting up with). Here is this week’s contribution, titled “7 tips to overcome insecurity about making job change”:

    “1. Make a list of your skills and attributes.
    2. Write down any major challenges you’ve overcome.
    3. Write down your feelings and thoughts about yourself.
    4. Consider what might be holding you back.
    5. Create a career-development plan.
    6. Obtain feedback.
    7. Create a support network.”

    I have a better idea:

    Cash dividend checks.

    That’s right, I graduated from the working class to the capitalist class, so I don’t have to jump through these hoops like a trained seal. When you own the company, instead of work for it, you can be a total asshole, never show up for work, you don’t need any talents or skills and don’t have to be productive, and you’ll still get paid more than the guys on the shop floor or the cubicle slaves. All you have to do is spend your paychecks on stock instead of “stuff” during your working-class years. After thirty or forty years or so, you’ll own the company, or at least a piece of it, and then the bosses have to work for you and kiss your cute cottontail. Sure beats having a job. Work isn’t respected in this country. America worships capitalists. So why would anyone want to be a worker? Ignore the propaganda trying to get you to consume; quit wasting your money on “stuff” and buy stock instead. Nobody ever got rich by borrowing and spending. You get rich by saving and investing. No one seems to understand this. Someday you’ll thank me for posting this revelation.

    I can’t think of anyone more contemptuous of workers than Bickle, the rich doctor sucking on the Medicare teat who spends most of his time posting rants on HA the essence of which are that raising the minimum wage will kill restaurant jobs. This, of course, is ridiculous because restaurant owners don’t pay the waitstaff; the customers do. The federal minimum wage for waitstaff isn’t $15/hr, or even $7.25/hr, it’s $2.13/hr. How can a restaurant go broke from paying workers $2.13/hr?

    I read an article the other day written by a restaurant waiter. He said the worst customers are the ones who undertip or don’t tip at all. These customers always have excuses for not paying their servers. A favorite is, “I only tip for superior, above-and-beyond service.” I’m sorry, lady, but tipping is how servers get paid — the restaurant isn’t paying them — and so you have to tip for ordinary service, too. Otherwise, you’re stealing the server’s time and labor.

    During the minimum wage debates, some people warned they would stop tipping if restaurant workers’ wages were raised to $15/hr. I guess that might be okay if the restaurants actually have to pay their workers, including their servers and other traditionally tipped employees, $15/hr. Of course, it’s not okay if the minimum wage scheme excludes tipped employees, as it does now, and those workers will continue to depend on tips for their income.

    The exemption of tips and sales taxes from restaurant menu prices is a racket for restaurant owners. It allows them to advertise the price of a meal for 25% to 30% less than the real price. If the menu price is $30, by the time you add taxes and tip, the real price is more like $40. This is just plain dishonest. But then, so is selling a 16 oz. can of peas containing 8 oz. of peas and 8 oz. of water, so it isn’t just restaurants who are lying to customers about their prices.

    But I digress. My point is, the tipping system is a racket that benefits restaurants, because it allows them to shift labor costs directly to customers and not include those labor costs in their advertised prices, even though customers have to pay those costs. Unless, of course, the customers are complete assholes who think paying their servers is voluntary.

    And then there’s Bickle, the rich doctor who wants us to believe that raising the minimum wage will kill $2.13/hr. restaurant jobs. Really? How do you automate a server’s job? And why would restaurants lay off workers who are paid by the customers instead of the restaurant?

    Rubio may have more than a little to do with the sale of Group Health to Kaiser. As the Seattle Times’ Jon Talton explains,

    The message, of course, is that Rubio did more than sabotage Obamacare; he also sank Group Health’s finances, forcing it to sell itself to a big corporation.

    Went to a restaurant serving Mexican food on Saturday with Sister and 5 friends – we left our Server, Andre, a 40% tip. Best food we ever had and good service from Andre.

    If you like Mexican and ever in NYC, you should try it. Very reasonably priced and excellent food. $144 for 6 people with drinks (without tip).
