    Sunday is Election Day in Germany. It is not if Merkel gets a third term as chancellor, but who her partner will be. The liberal Free Democrats, the Christian Democrats prefered coalition partner, are not in good shape. They had 14% last time, they may be lucky to get the necessary 5%. Earlier this week, Merkel told the FDP she didn’t have the votes to spare.

    – Waivers to Congress and staffers to have taxpayers pay most of their part

    – Prices will rise instead of falling per the GAO and CBO!
    – Butt the common middle class person has to bear the burden 1/1/2014!

    So how can Obummer single-handedly delay key parts of a bill that was passed and signed into law; approved by SCOTUS to be fully operational 1/1/2014?

    Who’s exempt?

    Swiss Healthcare was heading the same way as the US in the nineties. The debate in Bern was getting nowhere, and the compromise that cleared the legislative branch, and passed the Federal Council(the Swiss Collective Presidency) was an individual mandate to have health insurance. The major difference between this and the ACA is that the private insurers in Switzerland could not sell basic health insurance for profit. It had a repeal vote, just one, a referendum. The Swiss voters approved the law. A few years later, the same voters rejected a move to single payer.

    The big one is the House resolution authorizes the “exact same amount of spending as current levels” that the GOP is bleating about AND states that the house Defense Appropriations Bill is approved. That bill restores $81B of sequester cuts to the D.O.D.

    So, what Piddles hasn’t bothered to wonder, and why we can be sure that the House proposal isn’t even remotely serious, how do you shift $81B in additional funds to defense, spend the same amount total and “Funded (sic) everything else.”

    You can’t. simple math. X + 81b ≠ X

    The house continuing resolution doesn’t specify any cuts to non defense programs because it doesn’t have to. It’s a purely political document and not a serious proposal. Beohner and Co. know it will never be adopted by the Senate so they don’t have to explain $81B in additional defense spending will come from cuts to what programs.

    It’s not a real bill.

    But Piddles doesn’t know this because his character is monumentally stupid.

    I think it’s more like puddyperv doesn’t understand the difference between passing laws, and enforcing them, including the process of rule-making. Moreover, if waivers are being granted, I would imagine that there is an enumerated process for doing so within the law.

    Of course you danced around the question. Deficit spending is off the table per the passed resolution. It has a max $ spent on ALL federal programs including defense. The Republican proposal is to spend the exact same amount of money for the next six months as spending at present. Not a penny more.

    Back to it. If the plan is to spend the exact same amount of money AND add $81B to defense spending, it is not possible to fully fund every other program at current levels.

He was running for a district seat in Sachsen-Anhalt, and third on his party’s state list. If elected, he would be the first member of Germany’s parliament of African Origin.
