Seems a judge told the longshoremen, in short, “Stop wasting my time.”

As the Memorandum of Understanding is not yet a binding deal and one of the things that could cause either party to walk from the deal is a to-be-completed environmental review, the Longshoremen are being stupid about filing suit over the arena agreement not having considered environmental impact. Nice try but a law student could have told you that over coffee for far less than your attorney’s charged.

The “hot mic” claims another victim.

Viewers who tuned in to Monday’s City Council meeting online might have heard more than they were meant to as several Walmart consultants huddled near a live microphone.

Some of what was said — about city staff, opponents and a City Council member — wasn’t complimentary. At one point, Walmart site consultant Jeff Clayton refers to Councilman Scott Bailes as a “dipsh**.”

Roger Rabbit Commentary: Sound familiar? Who you vote for does matter. Republicans act like they don’t like us, and we should treat them in kind, given what they want to do to us.

Did you know Sen. Chuck Hagel got campaign donations from a group calling itself “Friends of Hamas”? Neither did anyone else until Ben Shapiro (who works for Breitbart.com, not exactly the world’s most reliable source) broke the “story.” A few minutes of work by a real journalist proved the group never existed, except in the overheated imaginations of rightwing propagandists (see, e.g., Ben Shapiro of the world’s not-most-reliable source).

Roger Rabbit Commentaries: Have you figured out yet that rightwing propagandists are pathological liars? That absolutely nothing they say is true? I mean, I’m a propagandist too, but there’s a big difference between men and them: I take pains to stick with true facts, while they peddle fantasies so bizarre they’re ruining the good names of reputable propagandists everywhere. Sheesh. They should be drummed out of the corps.

From 5,

I don’t see why this guy Hagel is such a big deal with the Republicans. After all, the guy was actually in the military, and a lot of Republicans never served a day due to draft deferments and “bad” knees. Maybe that’s what they’re mad about – Hagel has credibility when it comes to actual military service.

Bob Woodward, well known conservative liberal writer of the WA Post:

The president and Lew had this wrong. My extensive reporting for my book “The Price of Politics” shows that the automatic spending cuts were initiated by the White House and were the brainchild of Lew and White House congressional relations chief Rob Nabors — probably the foremost experts on budget issues in the senior ranks of the federal government.

Obama personally approved of the plan for Lew and Nabors to propose the sequester to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). They did so at 2:30 p.m. July 27, 2011, according to interviews with two senior White House aides who were directly involved.

See you leftist morons in a few months. Back to traveling the world.

Hagel has credibility when it comes to actual military service.

So does Bradley Manning.

Credibility comes in handy when it suits liberal talking points. Other times, military service isn’t so popular with them. Recall what Wesley clark had to say about McCain in 2008:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/06/29/clark.mccain/

Recall things said about McCain that same year by Harkin (who has a personal record that should have made him think before speaking) and Rockefeller.

Boiling it down, the GOP sees Hagel as another Republican willing to give cover to Obama’s efforts to dismantle military programs they believe are worthwhile.

Hagel acts as Obama’s puppet, Obama gets to say ‘Hey, it was his decision and he’s a member of the Republican Party.’

It’s been trendy for presidents to appoint someone from the opposite party to a Cabinet post or other high-level position. Presidents from both parties have done it.

It would be interesting, after Obama’s term ends, to see Judd Gregg interviewed about the Commerce position he agreed to take, before figuring out what The One had planned for him and changing his mind about it.

@15 Republicans use words when it suits them too. They lie, steal and cheat then accuse others of doing the same, but they do it best.

This paragraph, or part of it, is trending heavily on the right-wing side of the ‘sphere today:

“The good news is, the world doesn’t end March 2. The bad news is, the world doesn’t end March 2,” said Emily Holubowich, a Washington health-care lobbyist who leads a coalition of 3,000 nonprofit groups fighting the cuts. “The worst-case scenario for us is the sequester hits and nothing bad really happens. And Republicans say: See, that wasn’t so bad.”

I have no idea how this will turn out in the next several days, but I would point out that there aren’t a whole lot of big names, on either side of the debate, on the Sunday shows:

http://www.nationaljournal.com/blogs/hotlineoncall/2013/02/previewing-the-sunday-shows-22

Kaine and Ayotte. Not exactly either party’s clean-up hitters.

Might give one the impression that the sequester is a fait accompli.

#13. I could be in favor of the Draft for Everyone with no collage deferments or deferments for the rich and butt cysted like Limbaugh and what ever Cheny used to avoid the draft. It would cause middle class and upper middle class families to have a stake in the game of war.
It’s so much easier to be a war monger if YOUR kid has no chance of being sent to the fighting.

My father was drafted into service twice and he instilled in me, a healthy disrespect for politicians going to war.

You want to kill support for invading Iran, institute a general draft.

Wait. What?

Hawaii Governor warns that sequestration will make Pearl Harbor less secure

“The plain fact is that will undermine our capacity for readiness at Pearl Harbor,” Abercrombie said, referring to the base that was attacked by Japanese military forces in 1941 that resulted in the deaths of 2,400 Americans. “Now if that doesn’t symbolize for the nation that far from overstating it, it is zeroing in on a graphic example of what happens when we fail to meet our responsibilities congressionally, I don’t know what does.”

Silly Hawaiian Governor.
Doesn’t he realize that the same party dead set on having a sequester is the party that sat in the White House when the 9-11 attacks happened?

Republicans don’t give a hoot about national security or the national economy. They got theirs, tough luck to the rest of you.
