    Trump seems to think he can dictate history.

    The White House plans to conduct a wide-ranging review of the Smithsonian Institution’s museum exhibitions, materials and operations ahead of America’s 250th anniversary next year to ensure the museums align with President Donald Trump’s view of American history, a White House official confirmed to ABC News.

    Of course, what you get in K-12 public schools is censored history. You don’t have to dive into the arcane details of how textbooks and lesson plans are reviewed by state-sponsored committees to understand that political considerations affect what public school teachers can teach. God help your teach if some parent finds out he called Robert E. Lee a traitor in history class. College is where the restrictions come off and you learn that Columbus was a shitty person and America isn’t so great in a lot of ways. Trump wants to censor that, too.

    We’re all grownups here, and we now know a lot of b.s. is foisted on schoolkids. For example, “work hard and you’ll succeed,” which is largely nonsense; many billionaires are people who manipulate money (or steal it outright), and millionaire janitors make their money from stocks, not wages. Patriotism was exploited to send teenagers to their deaths in the totally useless war in Vietnam. After you’re not a kid anymore, you learn critical thinking in college, from real-life experiences, and/or in other ways, and you see that a lot of what you were taught was propaganda foisted on you by people with ulterior motives (usually at your expense).

    So Trump can manipulate history all he wants, and he may succeed in fooling people who are easily fooled, but the irony is that someday he’ll be dead, and have absolutely no say over what textbook authors, college professors, and historians say about him.

    US Hits Highest Layoffs Since COVID
    U.S. layoffs surged in July to their highest level since the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    In July, there were 62,075 job cuts announced, according to a report by outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas. That’s a 29 percent jump from June and 140 percent higher than the 25,885 announced in July 2024.

    Job cuts are the fault of Republicans.

    @1 At this juncture I see no reason why Washington shouldn’t be represented in Congress by 10 Democrats instead of 8 Democrats and 2 Republicans. We’re a blue state. Any Republican voters who don’t like it here can move to Texas and get plenty of representation there. We’ll even help them pack their stuff.

    I think Doctor Dumbfuck will stay put, though. For all his sniping at Democrats, I don’t think he wants to be represented by Republicans. He’s stupid, but probably not that stupid.

A majority of voters in every district will be in western Washington. As I said above, if eastern Washington Republicans don’t like it they can move to Texas.

    What should happen when ICE racially profiles, arrests, and detains in concentration-camp conditions, a U.S. citizen whom they have no authority to arrest?
