Looking for something fun to do tonight? How about joining like-minded individuals at the Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally. We’re getting together this evening to chat about politics, have a beer, and unwind.
The Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally meets every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern (2409 10th Ave E, Seattle) starting at 8pm. You’ll find us on the back patio.
Chapters of Living Liberally are all over the place…if you can’t make it to the Seattle chapter, stop by another chapter near you.
Be careful which constituents one invites and recognizes, might cost one their job.

In Canada, normally few even know who the Speaker is, because it’s a job nobody used to want. Particularly, because their party would be down a vote, in a minority government, sometimes the party with more votes votes for their opponent, like the NDP did in BC after the ConservaLibs lost confidence. That time, they and the NDP were tied, with the Greens agreeing to support the NDP.
Still. it was stupid for the NP from Northern Ontario to invite a Nazi an address by Zelensky. Even though the Speakers office is independent, hasn’t stopped the opposition from running with it.
@1 in this country the opposite would occur, or it would just be ignored. Hasn’t similar circumstances here occur with a different end result?
GOP extremists are holding the government hostage for massive spending cuts. What do they want to cut? Teachers and helping the poor with heating bills are on their hit list.
2)We’ve put too much power in the Speakers office, at the state level, too. Rare to see one voluntarily give it up, on good occasions too.
Congratulations to Seattle, which has already seen more murders this year than in all of 2022!
Half of them have occurred within two blocks of Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit’s South Seattle shithole.
He’s not wrong.
The only thing devaluing more rapidly than the US dollar are shares of the last stock purchase made by Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit.
As a matter of law, Donald Trump and his children committed massive fraud for decades.
3,
It’s not teachers in general.
It’s teachers in the poorest school districts in the US. That is, in the lowest average income school districts with the lowest per pupil funding, in states where there is no legal baseline for minimum funding and where there is no equalization funding between wealthy districts and impoverished districts.
And it’s about a half million of those teachers in just those impoverished school districts laid off by Jan 1. So in those poorest districts with the largest numbers of the poorest children living in complex and unstable homes, experiencing periods of homelessness, lacking nutritional support, without access to healthcare, and with untreated medical conditions that directly affect their learning like poor eyesight, hearing loss, and behavioral disabilities, you go from average class sizes of 25 students to 50 students. Overnight.
That’s what Crybaby Republican losers are demanding breaking the agreement they all swore to in June.
Chefs at Trump’s Florida sex club have been called in for double shifts in order to supply cheeseburgers for throwing this week.
The Trumps say that one of their reasons for arguing that their property valuations are not inflated is that, even if they are overvalued by 2000%, some of the Saudi families who sponsored the 9/11 terror attacks and paid to cut up live journalists are willing to cover the difference.
Good stuff.
Dick Durbin called for Menendez resignation this morning.
Let’s all admit that this is being stage managed by the Majority Leader. I’m very sure it still looks and feels better from the perspective of any New Jersey voter (who are surprisingly loyal to Menendez and who seem to have a high tolerance for political corruption). Among Democrats there is already a clear consensus supporting his removal. Creating a “groundswell” of political leadership to which the Majority Leader can then respond is better for Rep. Mikie Sherrill.
And yet still no calls from the Republicans to impeach and remove Clarence Thomas for his corruption.
12,
Certainly no calls from Brave Kevin for George Devolder to resign.
12,
Nor so much as a peep from the now further humiliated Crybaby for Brave Kevin to do so.
Must be having another power outage at the trailer park.
A laugh to get the day started:
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/krysten-sinema-pitches-donors-arizona-senate-race-path-victory-rcna117002
‘Under the banner “Kyrsten’s Path to Victory,” the document says Sinema can win by attracting 10% to 20% of Democrats, 60% to 70% of independents and 25% to 35% of Republicans.’
With Trump, Dobbs, Jan 6, and Kari Lake all on the same ballot a pro-bort lesbian who voted for gun control is going to get 30% of registered Republicans.
