DLBottle

It’s Tuesday already. So please join us tonight for a pint and discussion at the Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally.

We meet every Tuesday at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E. Starting time is 8:00pm. Some people show up earlier for Dinner.

Can’t make it to Seattle’s DL tonight? Check out one of the other DL meetings over the next week. The Tri-Cities chapter also meets tonight. On Wednesday, the Bellingham chapter meets, as does the the Burien chapter. And on Monday, the Yakima, South Bellevue and Olympia chapters meet.

With 230 chapters of Living Liberally, including fourteen in Washington state, four in Oregon, and three more in Idaho, chances are excellent there’s a chapter that meets near you.

If you have time to read, I strongly recommend you take a gander at Revenge of the Reality-Based Community
My life on the Republican right—and how I saw it all go wrong.
by former Rightwingnut Bruce Bartlett.

Steve Benen over at The Maddow Blog said this

After another unsuccessful election cycle, Bruce wants his former brethren to “undertake a clear-eyed assessment of who on their side was right and who was wrong,” and come to terms with the fact that his criticism was motivated by a desire to help conservatives “avoid the permanent decline that now seems inevitable.”

Bruce is offering sensible suggestions to the right; it’s a shame they choose to pretend he doesn’t exist.

It’s simple – wealth producers are totally outnumbered by wealth consumers.

@2, yeah. go with that.

@2 You clearly do not understand who produces this country’s wealth. (Hint: Not the rich Wall Streeters who push money in circles.)

Why The GOP’s Benghazi Talking Points Are Bullshit

“According to accounts of former CIA director David Petraeus’ closed door testimony about Benghazi to congressional intelligence committees earlier this month, the intelligence community eliminated references to Ansar al-Sharia in the talking points so as not to tip off members of the terrorist group that the CIA believed that they were responsible for the attack. The conspiracy therefore was not to mislead the American public but to mislead America’s enemies. If Rice had … said that Ansar al-Sharia was suspected to be behind the Benghazi attacks, … she would now be … hounded for the unauthorized disclosure of classified information.”

@5 Roger, I kind of hope Grandpa Walnuts, little liar Lindsey and what’s her name continue to push their bullshit. It’s going nowhere and just makes them look like the pathetic losers they are.

The unteachable Republicans, who learned nothing from their election defeat, are pulling out the stops to defend special tax privileges for rich people.

Btw, where are all the jobs that rich people supposedly created during the 11 years they’ve enjoyed the Bush tax cuts? If the taxes they aren’t paying are going into new hires shouldn’t we have full employment by now?

9. Roger Rabbit spews:

In case nobody has noticed this, the reason why the “tax cuts for rich people create jobs” argument is bullshit, is because the wages paid to employees by business owners are a business expense that’s deducted from gross revenue, i.e. by definition none of the money business owners pay to employees is “income” of the business owners subject to taxation.

An Idaho legislator [why am I not surprised?}, Sen. Barbara Nuxoll, R-Cottonwood, is promoting a movement to deny the election to BO. She advocates that [Electoral College] electors from states won by Rmoney boycott the gathering of electors thus denying the meeting a quorum and subsequent inability to conduct business. Turns out no such quorum exists, but if they decide not to show anyway does that mean BO could potentially get a shut-out 332-0?

Looks like there’s gonna be a hell of a governor’s race in Virginia next year.
