Join us at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally for an evening of politics under the influence. We meet at 8:00 pm at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E, although some of us will show up a little early for dinner.
Tonight’s activity…perhaps a round of pin the flag on a donkey. Other than that, we will be focused on a most important election, which also gives us our theme song of the night: Black Water by the Doobie Brothers.
If you find yourself in the Tri-Cities area this evening, check out McCranium for the local Drinking Liberally . Otherwise, check out the Drinking Liberally web site for dates and times of a chapter near you.

Richard Pope spews:
Maybe Hillary Clinton is right about race being a factor. Clinton talks a lot about “hard working White Americans”, so maybe Barack Obama needs to choose one of those folks as his running mate to balance out the ticket.
I don’t exactly think Clinton would be the best person to fill the role of “hard working White American” on Obama’s ticket.
I would recommend Senator Jim Webb of Virginia for the VP position. He certainly has a reputation of being more hard-working than Clinton, and stronger credentials as a White American. Also, Webb stands strongly for gun rights, and I bet he goes to church more often than Clinton to boot.
"Hannah" spews:
@2 – Richard ~ totally agreed! If Obama takes Hillary as VP, I will not be voting. I do not trust her as she has proven to the world, she cannot be trusted. She has played the race card against Obama and obviously has absolutely no respect for him, therefore would not work together as his VP.
Puddybud spews:
As I stated before with a PuddyFact: Oh lookie donkey are racist after all…

Gotta love Donkey and those “illegal” House rules.
Puddybud spews:
Now Heilary says the new # is now 2209 delegates. Wow, looks like the Donkey have some delegates issues.
So Donkey is it 2025 or 2209 delegates? Can the donkey make up their minds?
Jane Balough's Dog spews:
Are all the 2209 suppose to be live or can they be dead delegates? It makes a difference when you are talking about donks.
klake spews:
No Hillary should not QUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Obama should quit and take the high road to save the Democrat Party from the Far Far Left.
K spews:
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Hoping to hang on to a Congressional seat in a tight special election here on Tuesday, Republicans in this mostly white and very conservative district are trying to make the vote more a referendum on Senator Barack Obama than on the candidates themselves.
Didn’t work. R’s lost a long held seat in Mississippi.
How’s your strategy looking?
Richard Pope spews:
K @ 9
I guess that it will take 2,026 delegates to win now, instead of 2,025. The total number of superdelegates has increased by 2 in recent weeks, with Democratic victories in special elections for Congress in Louisiana and Mississippi.

The donk probably lied and pretended to be a republican. That is the only way they could win. Oh, who is governor of Louisiana again. hahahahahahaha
K spews:
You can choose to believe that, foolish dog. But for that to work, the good voters of Mississippi decided not to believe the Republican candidate. And did I mention that the VP was there yesterday campaigning for the R?
Oh yeah, HaHa
Roger Rabbit spews:
@10 Say, I hadn’t thought of that, but you’re right! Like a mirage in the desert, the elusive Democratic nomination has receded from Obama’s fingertips by another 1 vote …
Roger Rabbit spews:
@10 (continued) Also, when 2012 rolls around, there’ll be a lot more Democratic superdelegates, and a lot fewer GOP superdelegates …
K spews:
The R’s have now lost Trent Lott’s seat and Denny Hastert’s seat.
Spin, dog, spin
Richard Pope spews:
Roger Rabbit @ 13
You are probably right. Childers (D-MS1) and Cazayoux (D-LA6) will probably not announce support for ANYONE for President until the nomination has been effectively decided. Both are White and relatively conservative. Clinton actually carried Childers’ heavily White district by a decent margin over Obama. As for Cazayoux, his district was easily carried by Obama, so maybe he will announce support for Obama sometime soon. Or maybe not.
Richard Pope spews:
K @ 15
The Republicans will lose Trent Lott’s Senate seat in the special election in November (or the possible runoff three weeks later). What they lost tonight was Roger Wicker’s old House seat — which he gave up when he was appointed to fill the Senate vacancy created by Lott’s resignation. In November, Wicker will be defeated by former Democratic Governor Ronnie Musgrove.
Mississippi law has different rules for House and Senate special elections. A House special election is held fairly quickly, since a vacant House seat remains vacant until someone else is elected. Senate special elections generally take place the following November, and the Governor gets to appoint an interim Senator.
So far, the Republicans are 0 for 3 in holding seats vacated as a result of the resignation of greedy lobbyists Denny Hastert, Trent Lott, and Richard Baker. This will become 0 for 4 in November, when the Democrats score a 2-fer on the Lott resignation.

@4: the republican who just LOST in the south wanted the statue of the founder of the KKK in his city….yeah right – keep dreaming about the real racists – they are in the republican party.
I have been to West virginia – they probably still think clinton is president….
k is full of krap; so's his seat spews:
We did not lose Trent Lott’s seat. Nor did we lose the seat of Lott’s wife, who was turned into a pillar of salt.
Republican Greg Davis lost the seat of Roger Wicker. Trent Lott, even as a Donkeycrat, never held the 1st District seat in Congress. Lott represented the 5th before going to the Senate.
K spews:
One more R one less D. THat is the result. You can pick my seat.
