Good afternoon. Sorry I didn’t write anything this morning.

Good morning. I trust a lot of people pushing for the delay of WA Cares. So I do trust that it’s a temporary thing. But it still stinks that the first bill Inslee signed this session is pushing back implementation of state run long term care.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted. Schedule your appointment today.

Good morning. People in many Washington jurisdictions have received a ballot in the mail. It’s probably a levy or bond issue. Just vote for them. It’s silly that we have to fund schools and other vital services this way. But we do, so vote yes.
Also, if you live in King County you can vote on the King Conservation District. I always feel a little blind voting on that, so if you’re passionate about anyone let me know.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.

Good morning to everyone except the people selling and using fake vaccine cards. Honestly, what the fuck? Just get the fucking shot, you whiny asssholes. Seriously, I am rooting for them to be heavily fined. Heavily. Seriously, we’re trying to get through a deadly disease and here they are on the side of COVID-19.
And hey, the good news is that you can get a real vaccine card (and a life saving vaccine) for free.

This account of getting homeless people isolated after time in crowded shelters during the cold spell is amazing. I don’t know how we prepare for those sorts of events when the people act differently than usual. But clearly if people caught COVID-19, something didn’t work.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And Jesus Christ almighty get vaccinated if you haven’t yet.

Good morning. You can sign up for free testing kits from the government. Couldn’t be simpler. It took like 20 seconds. Boom. Easy. They’ll be good to have. Go do it right now. More is also available through your insurance.
And then wash your hands. And get vaccinated or boosted.

You guys! King County rocks. More than 90% of people under 5 have received their first shot and more than 80% have had their full course. It’s been a lot, and it isn’t over, but this is truly great work by so many people.
Thanks to everyone who got the shot. Thanks if you are afraid of needles or were worried about side effects but did it anyway. Thanks to everyone, starting with Seatac voters, and eventually statewide, who made sure we have a sick leave to take a day off if necessary. Thanks for politicians who pushed state and local mandates.
Thanks to everyone who organized and participated in a vaccine event. Thanks to the people giving shots and taking information. Thanks for people who were there while we waited 15 minutes. Thanks to the private places that gave their space. Thanks to Lumen Field and Amazon for me specifically.
If you haven’t yet, please get vaccinated or boosted.

Still no news, I guess (there is a lot of news).

Nothing happened over the weekend. No news. Or it’s possible that I didn’t sleep well over the weekend and am half-assing this. Um, the legislature starts today. So that’s something.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.

Good morning to everyone who isn’t spreading disinformation (point 1) via SPD radio traffic. What a bunch of shits. Let’s figure out a way to escalate an already tense situation.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted. Do it. Make an appointment today.
Monday Morning Open Thread!
Hey you! Yes, you. The legislature is meeting remotely. That means you, yes you, can testify without traveling to Olympia. So, you, yes you, should. We’ve had 2 years of learning how Zoom works, so go for it.
And please wash your hands right now. If you aren’t vaccinated, quit wasting time and make an appointment.

Another problem year in the books. Things got a lot better, especially after Trump left office. In King County, we have mostly returned to normal for healthy, vaccinated people. You have to wear a mask, but also otherwise it’s fine. Bars are open. Schools are mostly open. Restaurants are open. The library is open. I spent Christmas with vaccinated family. Public transportation is less used than pre covid, but it’s getting back.
But man, I know that’s not true everywhere. And it wasn’t true for most of the year. It has been slow, slow, slow.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And for goodness sake, get vaccinated if you haven’t yet.

Here’s a thread I made just for you.

I am probably going to halfass these even more than usual until January.

Man, I don’t know how to feel about Senator Ericksen dying. Obviously, any loss of human life is sad. And you should feel bad for his family. It stinks. While there are things you can do, dying of COVID, or anything else, isn’t a morality tale.
He also made COVID-19 worse in the state, and — because we’re not hermetically sealed — the rest of the country and world. His legacy of conservative advocacy is pretty gross. It’s the sort of thing that you hope to defeat in elections. Having a death short-circuit that leaves a void.
Anyway, on that bummer note, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
