God put that oil in the ground (probably about 6000 years ago) so we could make money from it. Its literally spitting in the face of god to not pump oil.
I guess God WANTS the atmosphere to be unbreathable to humans. God WANTS you to drive that 6 MPG Cadillac SUV. Got WANTS you to have 24 inch wheels and a 30 inch subwoofer in the back.

Oh, the unmitigated, affirmative stupid.
Yes, ‘God’ delights in our discovery of his oil – that he put there 6000 years ago – like a parent watching kids find eggs at Easter.
The deeply sad thing is, millions of people believe this shit, and hucksters like those two. It’s a sad and cynical fact that very few people lost money betting on the stupidity of humans, particularly if there’s a preacher involved.

2013 Cadillac Escalade gets 20 city/23 highway mpg and 22″ rims.
in one aspect, the larger rim/shorter profile rubber combination is actually environmentally friendly: it uses less rubber (as the tire sidewall is much smaller) which is a petroleum product.
you might want to re-think your talking points and inject some actual facts.

No matter what anyone thinks about entitlements, the ages at which people qualify for Social Security and Medicare will have to rise. It’s just not financially sustainable to continue with the old actuarial assumptions about life expectancy.
I suggest a gradual phase-in, say over a ten or fifteen year period, as a way to accomplish adjusting entitlements to our increased life expectancy. The math doesn’t lie – let’s just recognize that and adjust accordingly.

Neither does biology or physics. What do you recommend for the people who do physical labor, as opposed to easy desk jobs. Office workers, politicians and bloggers might be able to work to 75, but what about people who work with their hands?
How many working 74 year old factory workers or high tension line men or waitresses or farm workers or oil riggers or bus drivers do you know?
Beg on the streets till they reach 75?
It’s all well and good to say raise the age, but what will you do with that segment of worker who physically cannot do their first job past their 60s?
You have been very silent.

Potential Election Fraud up in Canada. Alleged robocalls misleading or harassing voters in up to 56 Electoral Ridings(districts), and the elections supervisory board, Elections Canada, is investigating. The allegations are that operatives working on behalf of the governing Conservative Party were behind most of them.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politic.....ml?cmp=rss
The 2011 General Election saw one of the worst defeats for the Liberal Party of Canada, dropping it to third, the separatist Bloc Quebecois party literally knocked out of the water(went from 50 seats to around 5, and one of the seats lost was the party’s leader), and a meteoric rise for the third party New Democratic Party to form the official opposition. Although the one case they were calling at first an isolated incident, the riding of Guelph(Ontario, 60 miles west of Toronto), and it was easy to call it that and try to brush it aside, because in that case, the Conservative candidate actually lost, despite this illegal help.
EvergreenRailfan spews:
A little background on this case. ALthough there are calls still for a full investigation of this, the Liberals in the same district where the scandal first was identified, had done a few robocalls attacking the Conservative candidate, and were fined themselves for not reporting the source of those calls.

As for the rest, the investigation continues.

@10 So, what you’re saying is that with Republican control over policy over the majority of the last four decades (24 years with a Republican in the Oval Office versus 16 for Democrats) that the economy has done so poorly as to be unable to keep up with the increased life expectancy so as to offer retirees a modicum of security and dignity in the years before they die? Or are you arguing that nobody except the very rich should expect to croak before they go broke?

Spending Records of Post-War Presidents
I stumbled onto this PolitiFact article while reading comments under a Danny Westneat column in Seattle Times about the fiscal cliff. This may be old news to some of you because it was widely circulated last spring. Bottom line: Conservative portrayals of President Obama as a profligate spender are a myth.
http://www.politifact.com/trut.....-lowest-s/
Average annual spending increase during president’s term, in raw dollars …
Obama 1.4%
Eisenhower 3.6%
Clinton 4.0%
Bush Sr. 5.8%
Kennedy 7.1%
Reagan 8.6%
Bush Jr. 10.2%
Johnson 11.0%
Nixon 13.5%
Carter 16.4%
Adjusted for inflation …
Eisenhower -0.5%
Obama -0.1%
Clinton 1.5%
Bush Sr. 1.8%
Reagan 2.7%
Nixon 3.0%
Carter 4.2%
Kennedy 4.7%
Bush Jr. 5.9%
Johnson 6.3%
The Johnson and Nixon years, of course, saw Vietnam War spending; in addition, the Johnson years were marked by Great Society spending including the start of Medicare.
And looking at these figures, it’s indisputable that Obama spent too little, not too much, on stimulus — because he was hemmed in by a stupid opposition party that believes the Earth is 6,000 years old, fossil fuels don’t cause climate change, and austerity is the best medicine for depression. I don’t want to know what their prescribed treatment for cancer is.

Liberal Scientist is a Dirty Fucking Socialist Hippie spews:
What has gone ‘wrong’ with payroll taxes is that for many years they have not collected the fraction of the total income of the country that they were designed to do.
Capping the maximum amount of income that was taxable/taxed defined a (large) fraction of the total payroll dollars that were exchanged in this economy. As the aggregate pool of income shifted to higher income people, the portion of aggregate income that FICA had available to it shrank.
The simple way to fix this, and immediately ameliorate any SS shortfall for the foreseeable future, is to raise the ceiling on what is taxable. A far far better solution than making poor souls whose bodies have been broken by physical labor work more and longer.
I think the unworkable and cruel alternatives put forward by fools like PI and Republicans in general, are in part attractive to them because poor powerless people are going to get hurt – feature not bug.
There is a depraved quality among the right that delights in a self-righteous prescription for pain and suffering among those they have power over – most of them probably pulled the wings off flies, or blew up frog with firecrackers (like GWB) as kids.
