One of Romney’s best ads yet… CNN ratings are in the toilet with the known bias against Republicans.
First… Obummer and his cronies have spent tens of millions personally attacking Romney for months: Romney committed felonies. Romney is hiding with his tax returns. The super-PAC run by Bill Burton, Obummer’s former White House aide colluded with his deputy campaign manager who lied saying Romney killed the spouse of a laid-off worker of GSL Steel. Well we FACTUALLY know Obummer bundler Jonathan Lavine was the MD of Bain when GST was closed. Then Obummer last Monday claimed those actions didn’t happen.
Second… The Richmond Times Dispatch agrees with Romney on the Obummer gutting of welfare. That’s something CNN and WaPo have gone nutzo over. The WaPo opinion is from Greg Sargent wo was exposed by Tucker Carlson
CNN isn’t a credible source anymore. When you read Talking Points Memo paraphernalia live on teevee when you interview a Romney campaign surrogate, you wounded any street cred you have left!
Third… if you’re explaining what you “meant” then you’re losing the argument. This is part of Obummer’s policy record. This isn’t a Bill Ayers attack. This is one of his latest get around the DUMMOCRAPTS in the Senate actions. Having the slobbering libtard press help you along gives you that 3-5% cushion in each state poll.
Puddy doesn’t view much voter sympathy with Obummer’s gang whining over their claim Romney could be misrepresenting Obummer’s welfare executive order when they purposely misrepresented Romney all these months!

Mittens has effectively ZERO percent of the black vote. He polls so low there that he is under the margin of error. I know you are aware of the fact (because I’ve told you several times), that 50 years ago, these people would call you “boy” in the street no matter how old you were or what your job was or your academic credentials. They would be defending the laws that forced you to sit on the back of a bus, or give your seat up for a white man. They would oppose your right to vote or own property, and they would hang your dumb ass from a nearby tree if you stood up for yourself.
Rmoney is a man raised and holding a high rank in a cult that to this day, does not recognize black skinned humans as being human at all. In fact, their doctrine specifically states that black people are the spawn of Satan, and therefore inherently evil.
This is why I’m sure that he won’t be the candidate after the convention. They’re going to “draft” someone. That individual will put on a big show of being reluctant to serve, self-effacing, academically and politically qualified. It’ll be Condolleeza Rice or even someone like Norman Schwartzkopf maybe. But this pair of overt racists and obviously unhinged people will not get the nod at the convention. It’ll put on a big show for the corporate press that will sell a lot of advertising space and provide a lot of circus entertainment for the mouth breathers.

Embedded in your spew link is this link:
http://www.worldoil.com/US_July_oil_use_drops.html
Read the fourth paragraph (I made numerous unsuccessful attempts to cut and paste).
The diminishing use of oil is due to the shitty economy, YLB.
Other contributing factors are a glut of natural gas and the ability to create electricity through this energy source rather than oil in some areas.
Call it price signals if you wish, and the high price of oil certainly is a deterrent.
It isn’t enough of a deterrent for you to claim it’s causing Americans to adjust. They’re just not consuming because they can’t afford to.
I suppose you use that to justify continuing a shitty economy.

Less use of limited resources is a good thing.
You simply need to understand that there is a difference between a decreased usage because people are finding other ways to consume energy, and decreased usage because people are hurting economically to the point that they simply cannot afford to consume.

Serial Conservative spews:
@ 26
Duly noted, Michael. However, the topic @ 17 was not about gasoline but about oil. For my purposes I’ll equate oil with petroleum.
Gasoline is only about half
http://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pe.....blpd_a.htm
of finished petroleum production.
If one looks at overall finished petroleum production over a 30 year period
http://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hi.....2&f=A
one sees a plateau, not a peak, followed by a decline corresponding with our recession and substandard recovery.
One needs to assume that our consumption and production are equivalent over that period for the second link above to be valid, but I suspect it’s pretty close.
We’re using less gas because:
1. It’s expensive.
2. We’re in an extended period of economic ill.
3. A lot of households can use the economy car or the gas guzzler and choose the former due to #1 and 2
4. A buncha gas guzzlers got crushed in 2009 so we could hand money to Toyota and Honda.
I’m not convinced we’re using less oil for any reason other than our economy has tanked and thus far has very poorly recovered, which is suggested by the second link, above.
Serial Conservative spews:
@ 17 @ 26
To take this one step further, if one looks at forecasts
http://www.eia.gov/forecasts/ieo/liquid_fuels.cfm
one sees both the US and Canada both producing more (Figure 29 in that link)
AND, if Mexico and a couple of South American nations are added in (Figure 34), consuming more as well.

Despite Democrats’ Warnings, Private Medicare Plans Find Success
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08.....wanted=all
Obama administration officials, lawmakers from both parties and beneficiaries have generally been satisfied with the private plans.
“Medicare Advantage premiums down 7 percent on average, enrollment up 10 percent,” the administration announced in February, and it said the quality of care under Medicare Advantage was improving.
This month the administration reported the results of competitive bidding for 2013: “Medicare prescription drug premiums to remain steady for third straight year.”
Federal spending on Medicare drug benefits has been about 30 percent lower than the Congressional Budget Office predicted when the drug legislation was passed in 2003.
The 2003 Medicare drug bill turns out to be far less costly than predicted. Why? Competition in the private sector. Go figure.

This mail poll seems to fit all of his criteria although there are no crosstabs and God only knows where the respondents are clustered. Probably not far from Columbus, I imagine.
Anyway, it’s a dead heat in OH, both for the presidential race and the Senate race.
I didn’t see that Darryl’s poll FAQ criteria specifically exclude mail polls (apologies if I missed it – chalk it up to sloppy, sloppy analysis). It’s otherwise disclosing enough information to meet his criteria. If he includes it I bet he holds his nose in the process. Doesn’t quite pass my smell test.
Two interesting points in this poll:
1. 1700+ respondents so it’s a biggie, with small MOE.

This area has also struggled to recover economically from the recent recession, making it prime property for Republicans to pick up swing voters unhappy with the president they helped choose four years ago.
In other words, if there’s one area in the country where Republicans need to perform, it might be the I-4 corridor.

NBC News reports its latest election map is unchanged from June:
“In NBC News’ latest battleground state map … President Obama maintains his lead over Mitt Romney, with 237 electoral votes in the Democratic column and 191 in the GOP one. That’s unchanged from our last map back in June. The toss-up states, representing 110 electoral votes, are the same, too: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin …. And all of this reflects how little the race has moved, despite everything that has happened in the past two-plus months. …
“One way to look at the nine toss-up states is … the likelihood of Romney being able to flip them from blue to red. Here’s our list (from most likely to least likely):
1. North Carolina
2. Iowa
3. Florida
4. Colorado
5. Virginia
6. Nevada
7. Ohio
8. Wisconsin
9. New Hampshire
“What’s striking about this list is if you give Romney the Top 4 (NC, IA, FL, and CO) that only gets him to 250 electoral votes. And if you give him the next two on the list (VA and NV), he’s still one short of 270 …. That means he has to put one of Ohio, Wisconsin, or New Hampshire into the mix to get past 270. Bottom line: Romney’s map to 270 is … a high-wire act. …
“[T]here are plenty of new state polls out there. … In Florida, it’s Obama 49%, Romney 46% …; in Ohio, it’s Obama 50%, Romney 44% …; and in Wisconsin, it’s Obama 49%, Romney 47% …. The New York Times notes that the Romney-Ryan plan to overhaul Medicare is unpopular in these three states … what strikes us are these numbers: Almost 60% in all three states say that Obama cares about the needs and problems of people like them, while less than 45% say the same about Romney.”
http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_.....anged?lite
Roger Rabbit Commentary: This is bad news for Romney fans. In June, Mittens had 5 months to win over tossup voters. With half that time now gone, he’s made no progress at all. The map is unchanged. He’s narrowed the gap in a few states; but even if he carries those states, they’re not enough, he’s gotta sweep them. So far, there’s no reason to believe that will happen, and recent events — Akin’s gaffe, Romney’s birther gaffe, a storm disrupting the GOP convention — aren’t going his way. Doesn’t look good for Romneyites. I wonder if our friend pudge likes condiments with crow?

We might not be better off as a nation if McCain had been president. But there would be at least $800+B that we wouldn’t have spent like idiots because Obama’s economists told us that if we spent it, the unemployment rate wouldn’t climb above 8%.
BTW we’re 2 1/2 years beyond that and we’re at 8.3% unemployment. If I were you, RR, I wouldn’t be touting McCain’s limited personal command of economics. What about those tax cuts were “idiotic”?
Three things:
1. It wasn’t much money. In fact, I don’t even mind that I didn’t participate in the largesse (my income was way over the phase-out range), because it was such as small monetary benefit to those who received it.
2. It wasn’t a lump-sum distribution with some sort of clear indication that the money is intended to be spent, soon, to boost the economy. People who received it didn’t even feel its effect.
3. In an economic environment in which people fear being the next to lose a job, they tend NOT to spend, but to sock away, and so a slightly higher paycheck isn’t going to make it back into the economy , but will be saved as people prepare for the next economic shock to hit them.

1% fewer Americans in the workforce than a year ago, RR. Nearly 2% fewer than when the recession ended in 2009.
4 million new births and 2.4 million deaths each year in the US means 1.6 million new US residents each year, RR. Employment has to at least match population growth, and it isn’t, which is why the labor participation rate is falling. There’s a 50K boost in the July employment numbers that won’t be there in August, RR.
SC commentary: If RR doesn’t account for population growth he’ll continue to make an idiot of himself.
There is one bright spot for you, RR. When Obama was inaugurated there were 7.4 million people receiving Federal disability benefits. Now, that number is 8.7 million. So he’s boosted that number considerably. That’s people who aren’t counted in the unemployment statistics because they’ve used up their unemployment benefits and now are reclassified as disabled so they won’t be out on the street, RR.
It’s also a huge reason why the labor participation rate has fallen. I know you’ve been wondering.

What makes you an idiot, RR, is a short-term Federal program that hands billions to states, so that states can paper over their own woes for another year, only to have to face a much worse situation one year down the line, when there’s no additional handout.

Tell me, what’s the GOP answer? I’ll tell you. Vote against extended unemployment benefits. Cut entitlement spending. Use the savings to fund more tax breaks for the uber-rich — the only people who are doing well.
Even the rich aren’t this stupid. Plenty of them would rather pay higher taxes than have food riots in America’s streets.

The point is that jobs have not been added fast enough to keep up with population growth, much less to reduce the rate of unemployment by a substantial amount.
Go ahead and trumpet that Obama adds jobs each and every month if it makes you feel better.
Maybe now and then subtract from those numbers the amount needed to keep up with population growth.
Not so impressive that way, is it?

A bunch of folks have used up their unemployment, moved out of the ‘burbs, sold off their second car, and found that without long commutes, the second car, the lunches out, and daycare to pay for, and with cheaper digs to live in, THEY NO LONGER NEED THAT JOB. We’re going back to families having a parent at home at least part time and quite a few people are cool with that. It’s the conservative ideal, except it’s as likely to be a stay at home dad as it is a mom. Not sure why the conservatives are all freaked out about it.

As I recall, for us it was about two top offs of the gas tank of the family vehicle per month. For a lot of strapped families, I’m sure it was quite welcome. It meant feeding the family or keeping up with other bills.
Lump sums like the $800 we got from Bush in 2001? I think we bought a new dryer with that. That didn’t do jack for the economy. It was a dreary jobless recovery for at least a couple more years.
The other “lump sum” we got from Bush in 2007 we just paid some bills with that. Again – a non-event.
Yes, the Obama cut was nominal but it was needed to get Republican votes in the Senate.
Didn’t Obama do some other cuts for small business in subsequent years? Take advantage of any of those Bob?
I thought saving was good. It means capital formation does it not? Perhaps not so much when demand is falling off a cliff. But no, I think you’re wrong. If a two income earning household is cut to one or the income earners hours are cut, any tax cut would be spent immediately..
In any case, imho, the tax cut was done more to obtain Republican votes in the Senate than for its stimulative effects.
The stimulus was pretty much doomed when the Senate Republican also said they wouldn’t support anything that cost more than 800 billion.
We needed to really cut into that backlog of crumbling infrastructure for which the civil engineers give failing grades. But the Republicans wouldn’t allow that.
