This week’s AP (Administration’s Press) headline:
Nope you dopes, the Administration’s Press is lying. First the Sadministration’s Labor Bureau upped the numbers (revised on Bloomberg chart) by 3K. Then forget your previous headline. Something the Administration’s Press did a lot in April. Announce a low number then revise it upward when no one is looking, like Rachel Maddow. I guess she forgot the millions who dropped out of the workforce and the 521,000 women who no longer have a job. Puddy provided the actual spreadsheet last week for women who lost their job. What a dunce Rachel is. Maybe she should lose her job for her stupidity!
Wow nothing much on Wisconsin recall! I guess this headline didn’t pass muster with the Friday Night Funnies Purveyor. I guess this poll must upset some of his family members back in Wisconsin.
If this holds up will Wisconsin be a presidential toss-up? And the chart will change!

House Republicans ignored the requests of the generals and a White House veto threat today, passing their bloated defense spending authorization bill, 299-120.

Roger Rabbit spews:
Texas’ criminal justice system is shameful, it’s that basic.
On the heels of reports that Texas executed an innocent man in 1989 by mistaking his identity with the real killer because the two men had similar names, we now learn that a Texas judge was blocked from posthumously exonerating Todd Cameron Willingham, who was executed on shoddy forensic evidence and sloppy investigative work for allegedly starting a house fire that killed his children. National arson experts who reviewed the case have said the fire was an accident.
Texas GOP Governor Rick Perry’s actions in the Willingham case were especially shameful. He could have stopped the execution, but hours before Willingham was put to death, he refused to read a report calling into question the state arson investigator’s conclusions and the evidence on which he relied to convince the jury to convict Willingham, and let the execution go forward. Then, after Willingham was dead, he blocked a Texas Forensic Commission investigation into the case. Perry would rather smear the reputation of an innocent man — who can’t speak for himself because Perry’s state killed him — than admit he and the Texas criminal justice system made a mistake.
These Texas follies don’t change my view that a few killers should be executed in cases where guilt is not in question and the crimes are so heinous that death is the only adequate punishment. But it’s starting to look like we need some sort of federal mechanism, probably administered by the Department of Justice, to allow federal intervention and permit federal authorities to block states from enforcing state death penalties where a state is so incompetent in running its criminal justice system that it can’t be trusted to not execute innocent people. Texas is glaringly such a state. The Texas Death Row should be put in a federal receivership right now, and every single Texas death case should be reviewed by independent authorities, before Texas is allowed to carry out any more executions. That state has demonstrated more than once that it just can’t be trusted to administer its death penalty statute in a responsible manner.

The Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act—reduces overlapping and unnecessary regulations on pesticides, thereby reducing costs to both farmers and small business owners. It was described as a government obstacle to job creation. The House passed it 292-130 on March 31, 2011.
—
That’s not a jobs bill, that’s just an excuse to pollute more.
Thanks to disingenuous catchphrases and a cleverly selected bill name, the pesticide manufacturers were able to convince many in the House of Representatives to vote for H.R. 872, and now the Senate is all that stands between this bill and the President’s desk. Unfortunately, the true effect of the so-called “Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act of 2011,” which should more appropriately be called the “Reducing Environmental Protections Act of 2011,” can’t be wrapped into quick sound bites. These special interests used the complexity of this issue to turn Congressmen who typically work to protect the public health into conspirators in exposing our waterways and our bodies to more pesticides.

If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It!
Barron’s, that ultra-leftwing commie-symp investing magazine run by a gang of Friedman-hugging free-market editors, has an interview this week with Ray Dalia that sheds light on U.S. economic policy.
Dalia, who runs the world’s biggest hedge fund, is a heavyweight in the investment world. He calls the U.S. deleveraging “beautiful.” To explain:
“There are three ways to deleverage.
“We hear a lot about austerity. In other words, pull in your belt, spend less, and reduce debt. But austerity … causes the contraction to feed on itself. Austerity … is deflationary and it is negative for growth.
” … [D]ebt restructurings also are deflationary and negative for growth. One man’s debts are another man’s assets, and when debts are written down … it has a negative effect on wealth. That causes credit to decline.
“Printing money typically happens when interest rates are close to zero, because you can’t lower interest rates any more. Central banks create money … and … put money in the system for a … debt monetization. Unlike the first two options, this is an inflationary action and stimulative to the economy.
“A beautiful deleveraging balances the three options. In other words, there is a certain amount of austerity, there is a certain amount of debt restructuring, and there is a certain amount of printing of money. When done in the right mix, it … doesn’t produce too much deflation or too much depression. There is slow growth, but it is positive slow growth. At the same time, ratios of debt-to-incomes go down. That’s a beautiful deleveraging. …
“The key is to keep nominal interest rates below the nominal growth rate in the economy, without printing so much money that they cause an inflationary spiral. The way to do that is to be printing money at the same time there is austerity and debt restructurings going on.”
http://online.barrons.com/arti.....rticle%3D1
Roger Rabbit Commentary: The U.S. is doing this nearly perfectly, Dalia says, which is why we’re growing while Europe unravels and China’s growth is slowing. Although the U.S. economy isn’t booming and domestic unemployment is still uncomfortably high, there’s no easy way to deleverage an economy and it’s being done as well as it can be.
Which brings us to the question, what exactly does Mitt Romney bring to the table?
The adage, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” comes to mind. When something is working, replacing the guy who runs it with someone who may not know what he’s doing doesn’t seem very smart.
It’s not me saying our economic policies are on the right track; I’m merely quoting (and cutting-and-pasting) one of the world’s biggest, most successful, and most respected capitalists. But then, if you’re a regular HA reader, you already know I’m a flaming capitalist.
I just don’t see what voting Romney into the White House gets us. A different economic policy? A new set of economic policymakers? Sure, that’s what he’s promising, but is it a good idea? He essentially can’t make things better, and could make things worse, so what’s to gain by voting for him? Nothing that I can see
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Alaska Militia Nuts Plot To Kill Gov’t Officials
They have some nutty motherfuckers in the 49th state.
“Schaeffer Cox carries himself with youthful swagger as he spreads a message to his many admirers of an out-of-control federal government bulldozing individual freedoms.
“Federal prosecutors portray him quite differently: as a dangerous Alaska militia leader who … amassed a huge cache of illegal weapons while plotting … to … kill judges, state troopers and other government officials.
“According to prosecutors, Cox … believed his group would eventually … take up arms against the government, and ‘be sufficiently armed and equipped to sustain a take-over of the ‘government’ or become a new government in the event of a ‘government collapse.'”
And what kind of guy would plot the murder of government officials and the violent overthrow of our democratically elected government?
“In March 2010, he was accused of choking his wife during an argument in a car and convicted of misdemeanor reckless endangerment. He told supporters that he blamed the incident on a bothersome mother-in-law, who never liked his conservative values.”
Yep, it figures. A wife-beater. And then there’s this:

This is not a jobs bill, this is a union busting bill. In the old days, the only thing workers were asked to provide was their labor and loyalty, and they made a decent living in return. Now it seems the Cheap Labor Conservative philosophy has so completely taken over our economy that corporations have become too lazy to do anything except issue bonuses and stock options to their executives.

Right question, wrong answer. Corporations, generally speaking, don’t pay taxes. Although the nominal corporate tax rate is 35%, absolutely no one pays it, and many corporations pay zip, nada, nothing (see, e.g., General Electric and Boeing). Why else would John Boehner plump for cutting the corporate tax rate to 25% and shill for deficit reduction at the same time? The government doesn’t lose any money from lowering taxes nobody pays anyway. Finally, how can taxes corporations don’t pay get passed through to consumers?

@54 Yes, I’m serious, dipshit. It’s time to quit blaming our schools. Their job is to teach readin’, writin’, and ‘rithmetic. When employer after employer complains they can’t find workers with the skills they need, maybe that’s because the employer training system — not the general education system — is breaking down? Of course, the reason why employers don’t want to invest in employee training is because they want to be able to lay off workers at no cost to themselves. They want to treat workers like commodities. The problem is, the economy is becoming ever more complicated, and jobs require ever more specialized skills. Why should workers invest in those skills when employers won’t? What does it say to a prospective worker when an employer isn’t willing to invest anything in him? I’m tired of hearing employers bitch and moan about lack of skills. My answer to them is hire smart people with positive attitudes and train them. That gives both the employer and the workers an investment in the company’s success. It paid off for companies in the past and it’s a model that still works. Bob, you are one stupid head-up-his-ass fool.

Another victory for common sense. Nobody ever grew an economy by slashing spending and cutting jobs — but ssshhhh!!! — don’t tell conservatives that. Let them keep jerking off to their discredited shibboleths.

You need to pull your head out of your own ass, Bob. After eight years of Jeb Bush and now Rick Scott, WTF did you expect? Better public schools in Florida? You see, Bob, it’s your fault because you and your ilk hate public education and teachers. You don’t give a fuck if kids fail, especially kids of color. You’re just full of resentment because you’re not profiting from it.

Having had his ass handed to him on employee training, Bob ignores the thrashing he received and now moves on to whine about public education. What a fucking loser.

No Time for Fascists spews:
MIAMI (Reuters) – Nearly half of Florida high school students failed the reading portion of the state’s new toughened standardized test, education officials said on Friday.
But they don’t go into WHY.
Now the comments were nasty. The racists were out on that one.
However this comment was instructive:
Bob, would you care to comment of the effect of 14 years of repub rule on the education system in Florida?
No Time for Fascists spews:
If you don’t like test scores in Florida, isn’t that the republicans fault?

Steve spews:
@74 At the end of the poll analysis thread Doc Daneeka neatly called out Bob for his racism. And here in this thread Bob’s again descending into racism. Hmm, it looks like we have ourselves another racist troll. It sometimes seems that they’re all racists. Hell, even our black troll hates blacks.
Bob’s MO when he finds his ass being handed to him in a thread is to leave and move to a new thread to start all over again. That’s quite unlike the self-loathing black guy who usually then unleashes another 50 or so absolutely batshit crazy comments.
Michael spews:
Sorry, I haven’t been around much. I’ve been busy constructing a giant Faraday Cage around my house to protect us from the North Korean EMP blasts that are sure to come thanks to Obama being such a pussy on foreign affairs. I’m joking, of course, but there’s folks out there actually doing this shit. Like this guy. He’s actually one of the more sane ones. http://www.youtube.com/user/so.....er1/videos

@77 Heh. I’m more afraid of those scary New Black Panthers.
I’m going to guess that Bob settled for a tin-foil hat.

Then Stupid Solution Steve uses GE as his example.
This is why the Stupid Solution purveyor is another in the long list of HA leftist morons. Let’s review the known facts:
GE is a DUMMOCRAPT loving company.
GE head Jeffery Immelt is Obummer’s Job Czar.
GE shipped 10000s of jobs overseas since Immelt took over from Jack Welch.
GE pays little or no taxes to the US Treasury.
All that gets a pass because they are part of Obummers 1% crowd
See why Puddy identifies Stupid Solution Steve as the naturally born idiot he is?
BTW at least seven racist headless lucy and doppelganger sightings on HA last week and not one Stupid Solution Steve chastisement.
Puddybud spews:
See how Stupid Solution Steve makes it up for his own benefit. Another useless unprovable post.
The stupid is strong in that one. It was a natural gift, cultivated by many decades of drinking the leftist kook-aid!
Steve spews:
“Another useless unprovable post.”
Proof? Who other than a self-loathing black man would chum up to a known racist who had just called his peeps “niggers”.
Bob is showing his hand as a racist. Another friend for the self-loathing black loon, no doubt.
Steve spews:
How many times will that shameless, idiotic self-loather walk into that one? Damn! The truly stupid never seem to learn anything, do they?
Steve spews:
I wrote @76, “That’s quite unlike the self-loathing black guy who usually then unleashes another 50 or so absolutely batshit crazy comments.”
There he goes. Look for yourselves at how he unleashes his batshit insane hate at the end of this thread. Again. No big deal for me to have the self-loather pegged. He’s only done this again and again and again over the course of years of posting over 31,000 batshit insane comments.
Steve spews:
Geraldo on Fox News, “I think what’s far more significant is what Trayvon Martin looked like on that night, Bill,” he said. “Aside from the fact that he’s dressed in that thug wear — look at the size of him, he’s not a little kid.”
I’m sure Geraldo’s just profiling the hoodie, not the kid.
“Look at the size of him”
Oops, he’s profiling the kid. My bad. Putting aside Geraldo’s expert analysis of the 7/11 video showing Trayvon buying iced tea and Skittles, we actually do have a coroner’s report stating that Trayvon Martin was just 5′-11″, 158 pounds. But we hear, “Look at the size of him!”
Roger Rabbit spews:
@84 Even if you didn’t say it, you were thinking it.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@91 Sheesh. According to putz, anyone who behaves like a Republican is, by definition, a Democrat.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@95 I’m waiting to find out what “shot at intermediate range” means. In other words, was Zimmerman’s 9 mm equipped with a scope, or is Zimmy just a damn good shot (one of those guys who spends 20 hours a week at the local gun range)?
Roger Rabbit spews:
The training issue is this simple: Businessmen want all their inputs for free, or as close to free as they can get, to maximize their profits. They unabashedly rely on government subsidies and tax credits, taxpayer-supported public education, absence of pollution regulations, and free or cheap access to publicly-owned resources to shift costs to others.
Why should I pay a private vocational school $25,000 to acquire skills your business needs if you’re only willing to pay me $7.50 an hour? Today, every worker is an entrepreneur, whether s/he wants to be or not, and workers have to think like businessmen. The cost of that $25K skills course has to be passed through to the employer, who in turn passes it through to the customer, or it doesn’t pay to take the course.
Of course, cheap labor conservatives understand this, so they’re trying to take away safety net programs like unemployment insurance, food stamps, etc. — even though they don’t pay for them. Why? To force workers to work on their terms. This is the GOP’s Work-Or-Starve Program (TM). Anything that helps people survive without a job undercuts their ability to force people to work for starvation wages. That’s why they hate social programs so much.
Well, fuck that! Workers are obsolete. Everyone has to be independent entrepreneur now. Instead of $2.50-an-hour waitresses (the boss keeps half the tips), we should have $75-an-hour Hospitality Consultants. We expect them to pay for their own training, pay for their own health benefits, and pay for their own retirement; so, of course, they should treat their labor like a business and charge business rates for their labor services.
You want me to come to you skills-ready? And work on-demand (available 24/7, but no guaranteed hours)? Fine. I’ll do it. But expect to pay me $150 an hour, with a minimum show-up fee of $250.
After all, that’s what you do to your customers; so, why shouldn’t I do it to you? What makes you so special that you can do it and I can’t? Nothing, nothing at all.
Somehow I have a feeling this isn’t what cheap labor conservatives want to hear.
Blue John spews:
This is an interesting statistic.

Rubio Calls Obama ‘Divisive’
This is so laughable I had to post it:
“Florida Sen. Marco Rubio on Saturday slammed President Barack Obama for being the most divisive figure in American politics.”
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com.....itics?lite
Roger Rabbit Commentary: I won’t bother to list Republicans who are more divisive than Obama, because every damned Republican in America — including Rubio — is more divisive than Obama. But a few prominent names that come to mind include Karl Rove, Scott Walker, Jan Brewer, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin … you get the idea. It’s the silly season, and Rubio is running for veep, it appears.
Roger Rabbit spews:
I’ve written before about student debt, and I’ll continue writing about it, because it’s a ticking time bomb in our country — not just economically, but socially as well.
Student loans have put an entire generation into a financial chokehold. And they didn’t get value for their indentureship. They were sold unmarketable degrees and then blindsided by an economy that has made employment obsolete.
Anyone who thinks this won’t lead to massive defaults and social unrest has his head up his ass. It even has potential to depopulate our continent. That’s right, student debt is going to wipe out you humans, because jobless young people up to their ears in debt won’t get married or have children. Which is fine with me, because we rabbits are ready to fill your empty niche, and we’ll be much better stewards of this land than you humans ever were.
An article in Harper’s reveals what’s actually going on out there in Reality Land:
“David Graeber, the anthropologist who wrote the soon-to-be-classic Debt: The First 5,000 Years, … relates the story of a woman he met who got a Ph.D. from Columbia University, but whose $80,000 debt load put an academic career off-limits, since adjuncts earn close to nothing. Instead, the woman wound up working as an escort for Wall Street types. ‘Here’s someone who ought to be a professor,’ Graeber explains, ‘doing sexual services for the guys who lent her the money.'”
http://www.harpers.org/archive.....c-90008623
At some point, young people will resent being turned into whores by Wall Street whores, and will say, “Fuck you, I’m not paying it back.” Remember, these are unsecured loans — how do you repossess an unmarketable college degree? Cut off the person’s head?
There’s a trillion dollars of student debt out there. A lot of it will never be repaid. We all know what happens to bad debt — it migrates onto government balance sheets. That’s because, in the endgame, taxpayers have to bail out private lenders so the economy doesn’t collapse. That’s what happened to private pensions after companies decided to break their contractual promises to their employees. It’s what’s happening in Europe right now — debt is moving from Europe’s private banks to the balance sheets of sovereign governments. The framework is already in place; many student loans are already federally guaranteed.
The government will repay the private lenders who made many of those student loans, and will do it by printing money. Money costs the government almost nothing to make — not even the cost of paper and ink, because nowadays most money is digital.
Politicians eventually will do that, but not easily; they’ll need convincing. It’ll take riots and molotov cocktails — but that’s coming, too.
Welcome to the brave new world of the United States of Indebted America.

Cherry-picking testimony doesn’t work in a real court of law. Zimmerman will not get convicted of 2nd Degree murder.
