I support the striking school bus drivers. I’m sure it’s inconvenient for many parents, but you want bus drivers to have healthcare and a retirement plan. These are people in charge of your kids, for goodness sake.

The last new mayor of the year (touch wood) will be sworn in tomorrow. I didn’t vote for her, but I was always on team they’re both fine. So lets hope an even more liberal City Council can push her further to the left.

Was your Thanksgiving nice? Are you shopping now? Working? I’m heading to work late, but I will make up for it by leaving early.
Seriously, Black Friday office work is the best. I’ll be working like 6 hours, with fewer interruptions. I’ll get so much more done.

I don’t know, y’all. I think shitty dudes who do shitty things need to come up with better obviously bullshit excuses. Shared feelings? I thought she was hitting on me, so I grabbed her butt?
Really? How about, making sure first? Or, I don’t know, not trying to have sex with a subordinate who is young enough to be your granddaughter?

Men knew, part a billion in an infinity part series: Al Franken.
The photographer knew. The man sitting next to her knew. The picture was sent to God knows how many people. It wasn’t just men, but plenty of men did nothing. Men on that trip were literally sent photographic evidence and nothing happened for a decade.

Now that the stock market is going down, I feel like it’s a good time to write this without it sounding like sour grapes. The stock market is a shitty way to measure the economy. And the ways we measure the stock market are usually an unrepresentative sample of the market in general. A few dozen stocks, or even a few hundred don’t get at small business anything, or hiring, or wages.

Over the weekend, I saw The Government Inspector at Seattle Shakespeare. It was quite funny, but there were a few aspects that felt dated. One thing I wanted to comment on was the casting seemed to be gender neutral, or at least had some women playing male parts and it wasn’t commented on.
I don’t know if it was a lack of good parts for women, or what. I do know it took about a minute to figure out and then it was fine. I’d prefer better female characters, but if you’re reviving old plays that don’t have them, this is pretty good.

I’m seeing a few people no big deal the Roy Moore and Louis CK allegations. Not just the usual (and despicable) bitches be lying. But there seems also to be a strain of even if it’s true, it’s not that bad.
I’m going to assume that everyone making that argument have something similar in their past, or ongoing.

Oh right, sometimes election results are good. I mean the statewide results are only from states that Hillary Clinton won. Other states are still busy dismantling unions and suppressing minority votes. They may well double down on that in the wake of the election.
Still and all, pretty good. Washington looks like we’ll have a Democratic majority in both houses. Seattle will have the mayor and 2/3 of the council be women on the day the election is certified.

Get your ballot postmarked by tomorrow. Or dropped off by 8:00. Otherwise a fine but maybe not as good person will become mayor.

Ugh. Just, do fucking better, male legislators and lobbyists. I don’t know who the Democratic legislator mentioned is, but he should resign. Lobby shops have a chance to clean house; They shouldn’t waste it.

I don’t know how much joy I should take from the Paul Manafort indictment. On the one hand, fuck that guy. He must have known what he was doing was wrong. I really don’t have any sympathy. On the other hand, it can’t end here.
I don’t know if it will. But just Manafort and his business associate is hardly enough for the crimes that have been committed.

In a previous post, I noted that men should have some idea that something is up with sexual harassment at work. I got some pushback on that. Now I’m reading about George H. W. Bush groping multiple women while making a joke about it. How many Secret Service agents heard his David-cop-a-feel joke and said nothing? How many other people were at those photo ops and didn’t say anything? The women’s colleagues, Bush’s people, photographers, other people in the area.
He said it out loud, in public, multiple time. People knew.
