Retired police officer Larry Bushart, Jr. who was arrested on fabricated criminal charges in Tennessee, and spent 40 days locked up with a $2 million dollar cash bail, has now been released and the charges dropped after newly released body cam video showed that the arrest affidavits were filled with material lies.
Bushart is now preparing a lawsuit against the county, the county Sherriff, the prosecutor, and the individual officer(s) who falsely swore the affidavits in support of his charges and arrest.
Retired cop knows the county jail officers are going to look after him and aren’t going to step out of bounds to make a point they don’t even agree with necessarily. So he probably didn’t mind the 40 days that much. But he might not mind the six figure jury award he can expect.

Nothing could be more wasteful of county taxpayer resources that what this example shows. A full felony investigtion and subsequent arrest, preparation of formal charges, county attorneys filing and preparing for trial, pretrial court proceedings, appointed public defenders trial prep and motions, and 40 days of custodial care under the supervision of county officers. Then all the expense they will endure to defend against the inevitable and very much deserved lawsuit.
All because some fragile Republican pussies felt some butt hurt feels.
I hope the county loses their insurance pool membership. But the county taxpayers can certainly expect the assessments to skyrocket. And all because they vote for fiscally irresponsible Republicans.
