Look who’s back. Anyway…

Before the Viaduct was closed, there was an off ramp that I always said was the place I would die. Cars would not slow down enough for city traffic, let alone pedestrians. But in the shadow of the former Viaduct, there is a new place where I think I am going to die.

Specifically people taking an illegal right turn to the Coleman Dock. Between infrastructure clearly meant to indicate don’t turn and 2 signs, you have to be the worst kind of asshole driver to do it. And yet, all the damn time. I have seen so many close calls.

I don’t know if there’s a fix with infrastructure keeping people better separated from cars. Or cameras. Or emphasis patrols. But damn, it needs something.

And just to be clear: This isn’t a cars versus bikes and pedestrians thing. Most cars follow the signs and get there with the lights. People making the illegal right turn are cutting in line in front of them, as well as being dangerous.

    • The fire occurred on Saturday, not today.

    • The occupants jumped out of a first floor window, which I learned from another source. There is no mention of the floor from which escape occurred in your link.

    • The only person quoted in your link about the fire’s cause said it could be “accidental or arson”.

    • The judge’s decision had already been overturned and therefore was irrelevant before the fire occurred.

    After accounting for those items, the only thing incendiary about this is your mischaracterization of the facts.

  20. So far it looks like LINK and SOUNDER had a good test over the weekend with sports fan Traffic, not too many major issues. Although too bad the Federal Way extension doesn’t open until December, that will add three stations whose parking garages allow fans an alternative to SODO.

    The SOUNDER running for all events on Saturday and Sunday was surprising. BNSF dictates whether those extra(but technically a regular runs, non fans can use it) trains can run, and usually it’s only for games starting no later than 1:30 so the return trip starts no later than 5:30. Probably allowing it because of the playoffs, but I bet the dispatchers wouldn’t like it if the Mariners were playing the Rangers.

    One thing Metro needs to do while the Mariners host playoff games, is get rid of that blight at Ryerson Base across from Stadium station. It’s a couple Orion VII buses that look like vandals got to them. The model is out of production, so mechanics have resorted to a time-honored tradition going back a century, strip a few for usable parts, but it’s usually fine at South Base Annex(aka the Boneyard) in Tukwilla, out of sight, except from LINK, but as that’s a fast section, it’s blink and you will miss it. The O7s don’t have much time left, more Gillig Advantage Electrics are at the Livermore, CA factory, awaiting the drive up I-5(one of the members of the NW Bus Fans Facebook group is one of Gillig’s delivery drivers, shares photos of interesting moves. ).

    A lost opportunity during oth the initial construction, and the Hilltop extension, would have been adding a turnaround track in Pierce Transit’s layover tunnel at 10th and Commerce, but the current streetcars don’t have a battery option (Sound Transit didn’t need it, manufacturer does offer though).

    During the past 13 years, NVIDIA’s highest PE Ratio was 243.49. That was reached back in 2021, and it seems to me that despite a steep fall in the PE ratio the Nvidia shares have done pretty well since then. Just think of how much your Nvidia shares would have gained had you purchased them back when the PE ratio was screamingly high and held them, rather than purchasing them earlier this year.

    You really need to brush up on your investment skills and understanding. You have precious little time remaining.
