Larry the Urbanite is gone, not for some rinky-dink reason, but for such an utterly anti-American, pro-terrorist douchemove that I just refuse to tolerate him any longer on the site.
Someone did some googling and came up with a lot of bullshit by him, none of which especially bothered me, except for one little thing he did that was positively anti-American– just to somehow “annoy” me, a frickin’ midlevel blogger no one’s ever heard of.
I’d say who that someone was, but I don’t know if he’s proud of his work or would rather it be kept on the downlow.
In any event, goodbye, Larry. As you seem to frequently call for the banning of rightwing “trolls” on leftwing sites, I’m sure you can have no complaint about this.

I’ve always wondered what these douchebag trolls did before the Internet Tubes gave them a way to vent their madness upon the unwary. I suppose lots of them were street-preachers, steetsign taggers, or those “letter to the editor” recluses who blamed the moral turpitude of America’s youth on fluoridation of the water.
Still, I’ve never found web forums to be one-tenth as wacky and filled with bile as some USENET groups got. Some people there were Frisch-crazy. There was even a newsgroup dedicated to making fun of these people: alt.usenet.kooks. Part of the reason USENET faded back into obscurity was the fact that it was pretty hard to ban such people without some pretty draconian (and time-consuming) moderation.

Tucson Police say a dangerous man is off the streets and locked up in County Jail.
Fernando Egurrola-Gutierrez, a 26-year-old resident of Mexico, was arrested Saturday night after Police responded to reports of a home invasion.
Police arrived on the scene about two minutes after getting the call.
When they got there they say Gutierrez was on top of the female victim.
Sergeant Decio Hopffer told News 4, “We had to go hands-on with him. He did not immediately comply with our demands so we had to go hands-on to detain him.”
After booking Gutierrez, Police say they found solid evidence linking him to another attempted sexual assault in the same area.
On July 16, a man fitting the same description as Gutierrez pulled a gun on two hair stylists at the Supercuts salon about two blocks away.
In that case, the attacker locked one of the women in a bathroom and attempted to assault her sexually.
The second stylist got away and when she left the building the opening door sounded a bell which spooked the attacker who took off running.
Police believe that man was Gutierrez and they say he was getting more brazen.
“He forced himself inside a bedroom before attempting sexual assault so he was getting more violent, more aggressive. There is no doubt in my mind that he would strike again,” said Sgt. Hopffer.
Gutierrez was booked into the Pima County Jail on several charges including attempted sexual assault, kidnapping, armed robbery, aggravated assault and burglary.
