President Mugabe cut the ribbon on the road from Malawi to Mozambique, which has been called the Robert Mugabe Highway. No need to rely on the perception of a third party to know that Rumsfeld lies, and then lies about lying. Aside from my memory of Rumsfeld saying he knew where WMDs were, there’s videotape of him saying so.
And, there was no way Rumsfeld believed there were WMD that could have endangered the US, because the Oil Ministry was secured instead of gaurding the Al Qaqaa weapons depot where highly explosive HMX was recovered from bunkers sealed by the IAEA.

From the video I saw on GMA this morning, the wreck was more-or-less a fender bender that damaged the front bumper. From the looks of it, the car was fully able to be driven from the scene.
There was no other reason for the police to drive him home other than the fact that he was too drunk to drive. And if that is the case, they should have been driving him to jail instead of home. Someone high up in the Capitol Police Dept. has some ‘splainin to do.
And…of course he will “fully cooperate” with the investigation now….the alcohol cleared his system long long ago.

Executive Summary: The GOP is in FREE FALL! Even David Irons Jr. is more popular than Bush and the GOP-run Congress, who the new numbers show would lose a head-to-head matchup against cigaret smoke.
The Gory Details:
Only 33 percent approve of Bush’s performance, down from 36 percent a month ago.
45 percent who consider themselves “conservative” disapprove of the president.
75% disapprove of Congress, including a whopping 65 percent of people who consider themselves “conservative.” (Wonder if Bush’s borrow-and-spend-like-crazy policies have anything to do with that?)
By a 51% to 34% margin, Americans want Democrats to run Congress.

Re: kenedy accident, I think:
1. IF Kennedy was drinking and driving, and at this point there is no objective evidence that he was, then he should be subject to the same penalties as any other citizen.
2. Anyone who think that the interface between the most powerful people in this country whose legislative decisions run the local township and that township’s police force will not be affected by this power relationship is crazy.
3. Comparisons of this situation to Rush Limbaugh’s are not well taken. For example, Kennedy has not publicly railed against intoxicated drivers for decades. For example, Kennedy was not discovered in possession of abnormally large quantities of either alcohol or prescription drugs (um, Rush was–around 2000 painkilling pills within a six-month period.) Rush copped a plea–which usually rich white guys with the country’s best lawyers don’t do.
Being one of the Kennedy’s, I feel sorry for you paupers who must comply with the laws passed by us elites. It must really suck to not be able to drink and drive and have no consequences. Hell, if you’re a Kennedy, you can even kill people while driving and get away with it.

WASHINGTON — Support for Rep. William Jefferson, D-New Orleans, began to waver within his own party Thursday as the top two House Democrats called on the ethics committee to launch an investigation into bribery allegations that exploded again this week in a federal court.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California and Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer of Maryland distanced themselves from Jefferson the day after a Kentucky businessman pleaded guilty in federal court to paying more than $450,000 to a company controlled by Jefferson’s family in exchange for official favors.
Jefferson has not been charged and has denied wrongdoing.
“In the case of Mr. Jefferson, I think the ethics committee should investigate him,” Pelosi said at a news conference as she stood in front of a banner that said, “Honest Leadership, Open Government.”
“It is his private matter, and he should be investigated because of the stories that have been in the press and the guilty plea yesterday.”
A spokeswoman for Hoyer agreed that the allegations made public warrant an ethics probe.

More importantly, Bush spending in the first four years of his administration is up 19.7% in Total Federal spending, and 25.3% in Non-Defense Discretionary Spending Growth.

You prime the pump that much, you will get more tax revenues. It’s not the tax cuts that are increasing revenues, it is the wild Republican spend-a-thon this is increasing revenues.

Yes, the economy HAS grown, despite the incompetence of the men in charge who have presided over the SLOWEST recovery from recession in our nation’s history.
The national debt has soared to $8 trillion and is expected to increase to $11 trillion by 2010.
Inflation has continued during this time, inflating $1000 in 2000 to $1160.28 today (which apppears to take care of the stock market “increase”).
So given 10% inflation 2002-2006 (check the calculator link), an increase in revenues of 4% in 4 years is incredibly anemic, and considering that we added $3 trillion in debt during that time, criminal irreponsibility.
Apparenlty Conservatives are no more honest in economics than they are when they go to war.
