The Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally meets tonight (and every Tuesday), 8PM at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E. Please join me in the 9PM hour for a live recording of our weekly podcast.
I’m also pleased to announce that Drinking Liberally Tacoma will hold its inaugural gathering tomorrow at 9PM, at Meconi’s Pub near 7th & Pacific, and meet every Wed. thereafter.
Good stuff out there on
Emergency declaration by House on Geoduck and Beer commission (aka abuse of the statute)
Also Jean Godden on the City council wanting to shut down further oversight of the energy… Will they hire Heidi (waste money) Wills?
>Meconi’s Pub near 7th & Pacific,
Great place!
Goldy, skip the drinking and idle chatter. Instead, go do something of real value like volunteer work. Be like Stefan.
Luigi,
Don’t you get it.
Goldy does not help people, nor does he care about anyone other than himself.
This site is aboout:
Bitching about Bush
Bitching about Tim Eyman
Bitching about Dino Rossi
Taking credit for lots of things…
That’s really it in a nutshell.
You’d think Goldy would spend time trying to be a good father and earn some money for his family.
Is “Juan Downs” Kevin Carn’s new screen name?
Roger Rabbit rarely attends DL due to traffic problems caused by crowds of admiring fans, papparazzi, process servers, and GOP spies trying to get RR’s photo and ID him.
Guys, lighten up. Goldy does volunteer work too. What Stefan doesn’t tell you is that it’s a condition of his parole.
Sorry,
the site also gives Roger rRbbit a purpose in life other than cashing his governemnet check and collecting foods stamps.

“You’d think Goldy would spend time trying to be a good father and earn some money for his family.”
Apparently YOU don’t have anything better to do than bitch about Goldy’s bitching … does BIAW pay you by the word, or by the hour?
3
Luigi why don’t you, Juan, Kevin, and the rest of the America-hating trollfucks do something of real value, i.e. jump off the Aurora Bridge. Fuck you and your ilk.
Before I forget, prr aka Juan Downs is a nazi.

what government check? what food stamps? do I get a government check? do I get food stamps? where are they? All I get is MY MONEY that was withheld from my paychecks. Hey Juan question for ya man, why are all Republicans such fucking liars?
Roger,
Question for you….
when was a pers one retirment plan, your money?
Hey — question for you trollfucks — did you America-hating nazi scumbags hear about this?
“Fitzgerald … said in a letter to Libby’s lawyers that many e-mails from Cheney’s office at the time of the Plame leak in 2003 have been deleted contrary to White House policy.”

Republican = traitor
The daily news?

ATTENTION PROGRESSIVES!
One of my progressive friends forwarded the following e-mail to me:
“Yesterday I read that the potential to shift the Senate is possible this year. That means we can’t give up Cantwell.”
Never mind who wrote it, that doesn’t matter. The writer’s point is what matters … are you listening, my friends? This is NOT the time to worry about the finer points of Cantwell’s voting records — hey, nobody’s perfect — but this IS the time to ask yourselves, “if I hold out for someone more progressive than Cantwell, and she loses as a result, and the GOP ends up with a 1-vote majority in the Senate, how will I feel about what I did?”
Forget it RR, she is done.
Cantwell has a tough battle on hers hands and democrats cannot make up their mind on anything…..
I agree,
What’s the saying,
4 Democrats = 5 opinions….
Kevin Carns aka Juan aka Luigi aka Ricky @all:
Hey Kevin how’s tricks at BIAW? Turning any? Are you a 5-cent-a-word whore or a 10-cent-a-word whore?
Roger…
Are you surronded by “they and them”?
You may want to visit someone about your conspiracy issues.
Drink and drive? Have 5 or 6 at drinking Liberally? Have a little fender bender? Kill a 12 year old? Well, call Rosenberg and Lowenstein! We are there for you! By the time we get finished, the jury will believe Bush and Laura were driving! Hell, if lawyers can get drunk Teddy off for killing Mary Jo, so can we!!
Any Mexican illegals out there without a valid ID, DL, or auto insurance? Call us, and we’ll have you legal, driving, and registered to vote Democrat in the NOV 06 election! Rosenberg and Lowenstein! Muchos “guvment” money for you!
Dear Mexicans, Having your 8th free kid at LA General? Did a staff member “dis” you? Well, it’s time for lawsuits, big money, and driving those damn Republican doctors and hospitals right out of Kalifornia. Call us!
13
“when was a pers one retirment plan, your money?”
Kevin, you don’t know much about PERS 1, do you? Here’s some basic facts for you.
1. PERS 1 employees have 6% withheld from their paychecks for their entire working careers (in additon to FICA, income taxes, L & I, and health care insurance).
2. That money is held by the state pension fund and earns interest.
3. When the employee retirees, his/her contributions to PERS are drawn down first, then interest, and only if the employee outlives his/her contributions + interest does he/she receive any money from the employer contribution.
4. If the employee dies before receiving all of the employee’s contributions + interest, the employee’s designated beneficiary receives a refund of the balance. In other words, the law and the pension fund treat the employee’s contributions + interest as the employee’s property.
5. No refund of employer contributions is ever made to the employee, the employee’s estate, or the employee’s beneficiary. The law and the pension system treat employer contributions as state property, and when the employee dies, that money reverts to the state.
The bottom line is, a PERS 1 retiree receives state money (i.e., employer contribution) ONLY if the retiree outlives his/her own contributions + interest — which, in my case, won’t occur for a number of years yet.
In other words, you are receiving a state pension + govt check = you don’t deserve a dime
So … could I receive a state-paid pension some day? Theoretically, yes. But to say I receive government money NOW is just plain a LIE. I’m getting MY OWN MONEY and will continue to do so for a number of years into the future. It’ll be a while, if ever, before I see a dime of government money.
Roger rabbit = washington state welfare

You don’t deserve to be alive, you pathetic pathogenic microbe.
Juan Downs = Kevin Carns
Hey Juan how much do you charge for sucking a rabbit?
state pension + government check?? WTF are you talking about? I get only one check.
Hey Juan have you ever been mooned by a rabbit before? )o(
Details are lost on freepers, Roger.
33
Heh heh.
This has to be the most entertaining line of questions/statements I have read in at least, oh, ten minutes.
Mr. Rabbit: I don’t even have words to describe how your constant ranting about Kevin Carns reminds me so much of the anti-Karl Rove ranting done by you and your friends during spring, summer and then fall of 2004. Keep it up. It cracks me up to read such things about my good friend Kevin.
Juan, if you really are Kevin, congratulations, as usual, on your witty/terse comments. Your ability to keep your cool and allow these ravenous liberal dogs to fumble about like the impotent, mindless blobs they are, is always an inspiration. (Impotent referring to they’re inability to make a concise, thought-provoking argument, not their lack of sexual satisfaction. Although, now that I think of it, perhaps the two are somehow connected…)
34, 35
Yeah, he can’t tell which part is my ass, and which part is my cute fluffy cottontail! )o(
Rabbit, so it is true. You are sexually deprived…
36
“my good friend Kevin”
You need help … but the good news is that help is available: http://www.drphil.com/
Kevin @38
How much will you charge to tickle my cottontail?
I’m not deprived, I’m just trying to find out whether you’re a cheap trick or an expensive trick.
In other news —- In responding to charges that Mexican troops have been violating our borders, the Mexican Govt said “Wasn’t us.” This was apparently good enough for Dept of Homeland Security who said “Oh, okay.”
Roger, Do you want my firm to sue the trolls who are making fun of you? Are you black? Mexican? American Indian? [Our firm is very selective, and we only represent Democrat “minorities”.]
Does anyone know where Kevin Carns lives? I’d like to have a “little chat” with him and find out if he really is our favorite stupid homophobic racist troll JCH.
Oh, once again, JCH – say that anti semitic shit to my face.
Rethugs – gutless mamma’s boy punks who hide behind anonymous screen names.
PS – Goldy won’t want to be a party to it, but I will reveal my identity to any of these right-wing racist fucks who will do the same.
I’ve got nothing to hide, and from the racist drivel I see these punks spout from the safety of their mommy’s basement, nothing to fear.
45, Mr. X, “Hate” crime! Mo Dees will be our firm’s referral to file. Prepare for depositions! We will need to take your home. Saul and Hymie
The moment of truth has arrived. Almost 6 months after Hurricane Katrina…FEMA is going to stop paying the hotel bills of evacuees, starting today. But this is just the first round of evictions. There are 20,000 hotel rooms being occupied in 40 states that won’t have to be out until either February 13th or March 1st. Must be nice.
And just how much is all of this costing? $522 million. Over half a billion bucks. But 6 months isn’t enough for some folks. Attorneys are already pushing a class-action lawsuit, claiming the evictions will cause mass homelessness. Poor babies. Perhaps now these “evacuees” will actually….I don’t know…maybe GET A JOB. You know, and pay for their own housing…like the rest of us. [If any of you HA posters are living in a FEMA hotel, please call Rosenberg and Lowenstein! Mr. X! You too!]
Hate to break it to ya, you racist piece of shit, but racist white boys aren’t a protected class – so I’d say your hate speech argument ain’t gonna cut it.
Gutless and brainless is no way to go through life – I’d suggest suicide.
“Impotent referring to they’re [sic] inability to make a concise, thought-provoking argument, not their lack of sexual satisfaction.”
Hey momma — here’s a concise, though-provoking assertion for you:
The strategies and rhetoric of the Bush administration is fascist. Their agenda, if not totalitarian in bent, is also–in many ways–essentially fascist.
Note how I’m not arguing that they are fascist, though.
Want an argument? Go ahead and prove my assertions wrong.
erratum
“arguing” should be “asserting”
Gone for less than a week and the comment threads have really gone down the crapper.
I guess I was the glue holding the place together.

“The strategies and rhetoric of the Bush administration is fascist. Their agenda, if not totalitarian in bent, is also–in many ways–essentially fascist.

Seems to me like you are working pretty hard to call the Bush Administration fascists, without actually doing so.
“Seems to me like you are working pretty hard to call the Bush Administration fascists, without actually doing so.”
Well, you’re wrong. There’s a reason why I’m asserting that the strategies, rhetoric, and many aspects of their agenda display characteristic hallmarks of fascism, but not saying specifically that “they” are fascists. There’s a semantic distinction there, and in my view a couple of simple, basic reasons for making such a distinction.
If you want evidence of threads going down the crapper, just look at what some of the freeper trolls have posted here today. You can start with #3 and 4, above, and work your way down.
43
“Roger, Do you want my firm to sue the trolls who are making fun of you?”
Can you get me $15 million, or do I have to be an insurance company exec to pull down that kind of loot?
“Are you black?”
Brown.
“Mexican? American Indian?”
No, I’m a Lagomorpha.
DrE@53 Goldy knows the cure for the ‘freeper trolls’ but has not implemented it. I am waiting. . . .
47
I wonder how many of those people being evicted from hotels have rebuilt homes waiting for them? At the rate Halliburton and the other low-wage, high-profit, no-bid FEMA contractors are getting things done — probably none.
Hell, FEMA can’t even get a case of bottled water to disaster victims in a week’s time — not when Republicans run FEMA.
Another ‘cure’, which I rather like, but haven’t seen on any blogs is fairly easy to implement ( I am told), especially since Goldy tracks his posters IP addresses.
Comment on 53
So what? If Kevin wants to make a public fool of himself, let him! I’m in favor of anything that makes BIAW look bad.
Hey Kevin — before I forget — can you explain how your washing machine works? I understand that when a $100 bill comes out the other side of the rollers it’s still a $100 bill, but I want to know what’s inside the rollers that changes the $100 bill from L & I taxes into Rossi slush funds!
One method is to set up a primary and a secondary html style sheet. If you are a ‘freeper’ or otherwise offensive poster your post can be diverted to the secondary style sheet. If you are truly dedicated to first amendment action, allow ALL posts. . .just have them expressed as “greyed out text”. Hell you could have the post get progressively lighter and fade out. It would make it simple to skip over offensive, off topic, or otherwist ‘inappropiate’ posts. If you really want to
read these posts, just click on the ‘greyed out’ text. . .if you really must.
With a choice between normal text or greyed out text, scanning down through posts with content would be a breeze. If you wish to implement a community based ‘moding’ scheme, this would involve registering to post, which by itself would lessen trolling. . .and relieve the blogmeister of the obligation of picking and choosing who gets diverted to ‘grey-out’.

Dr. E is this what you wanted to say?
“Year’s end is the time for big thoughts, so here are mine. The most significant socio-political shift in our time has gone almost completely unremarked, and even unnoticed. It is the dramatic shift of the red-state bourgeoisie from leave-us-alone libertarianism, manifested in the Congressional elections of 1994, to almost totalitarian statist nationalism. Whereas the conservative middle class once cheered the circumscribing of the federal government, it now celebrates power and adores the central state, particularly its military wing. … What this implies for libertarians is a crying need to draw a clear separation between what we believe and what conservatives believe. It also requires that we face the reality of the current threat forthrightly by extending more rhetorical tolerance leftward and less rightward.”

Don, You hate Bush! We hate Bush! We are brothers! Abu
No evasion here. BushCo and their chief strategist Karl Rove have studied every move in the fascist playbook. They despise democracy, and they have no respect for America. They would skin ConservativeFirst and his family in their own house if they felt it would help them keep power.

Playing the BIG LIE again. Ignoring reality. Military votes were counted in King County. That LIE has been put to bed. If Bush wanted to go after terrorism, shouldn’t he start with the country where they and their funding came from. Hint, that was not Iraq. It was GWB’s good buddies the Saudis. But he didn’t.
If he respected the Constitition he would use the Courts which were set up and are available 24/7 to approve warrants. But he didn’t.
If he respected the separation of powers established in our Constitution he would respect the laws the Congress passes (For goodness sake, his own party controls it). Instead he “reinterperts”.
Talk about impeachable acts….
If Bush wanted to stop Iran’s nuclear program, he wouldn’t have squandered our influence on a war based on lies.
There is no Iraq nexus to September 11.

“Does the semantic difference have anything to do with what the definition of the word “is” is?”
No, and I’m not being evasive, either. There’s a difference, between fascist tendencies and policies, and the full implementation of a fascist form of government. We’re not there yet, and hopefully never will be, but the tendencies (rhetoric, etc.) and policies normally preceed the actual consolidation of power.
That’s why we have to be so damn vigilant.
“If Bush is so concerned about the potential for nuclear terror, why ignore North Korea?”

Uh … no. GOP pollster Strategic Vision reports,

Maria Cantwell 50%
Mike McGavick 39%
Undecided 11%”
http://www.strategicvision.biz.....l_1207.htm
Sure, the election is still months away, and that gap might close somewhat. But Cantwell is already over 50%, and McGavick? Hardly a people’s candidate.
McGavick, recognizing he’s a long shot, is already running TV ads. The interesting thing about his ads is they don’t identify him as a Republican. I guess nobody wants to be known as a Republican these days, hey? The GOP label is poison! In voters’ minds, “GOP” stands for incompetence and corruption. No wonder McGavick doesn’t want anyone to know he’s running as a Republican!

Just to set the record straight, Doofus, by voting Republican you voted for:
1. Bush’s attempt to stop combat pay for troops in Iraq,
2. Bush’s refusal to supply US troops with body and vehicle armor because he didn’t want to pay for it,
3. Bush’s cuts in veterans benefits,
4. The Pentagon’s policy of pushing wounded soldiers out of the service so the DoD doesn’t have to pay for their medical care,
5. Bush’s failure to have a plan to occupy Iraq, which has cost US soldiers their lives,
6. The Bush Administration’s foolish use of torture against innocent Iraqi civilians, and subsequent attempts to cover it up, which cost the US the support of the Iraqi people and guarantees we’re going to lose this war,
7. The deficit financing of this war, which assures high inflation and high unemployment for years to come.
Fuck you, Doofus — we’re going to hold you and every other Republican voter accountable for your actions. This isn’t business as usual. We hate you fuckers. We’re going to get even. You’re going to pay.

“They would skin ConservativeFirst and his family in their own house if they felt it would help them keep power.”
How very true. The strange thing about all these Bush-worshippers is they’ve convinced themselves the Fascist Party will share the loot with them. How very sad.
Hey Confirst, let me ask you this. Will you still support the GOP and Bushco if:
1. One of your loved ones is killed by a drug the FDA approved, and
2. You can’t sue the drug company for selling a dangerous drug?
By the way, I wouldn’t take any medications if I were you, no matter what your doctor says, unless they’ve been on the market for at least 5 years (i.e., pre-Bush FDA approval). You can’t trust the FDA to protect you from bad drugs anymore — they let the drug companies sell whatever they want, and consumers have no rights.
Big Pharma has been very successful in getting government permission to market dangerous drugs and not be held accountable. I’m going to reward their efforts by not buying their product. I’d rather be killed by disease than by Merck.

Question for ya, klake … how come wingnuts always say “Amen” when they’re jerking each other off? Is it a religious thing with you guys? Guilt, perhaps? Or limited vocabulary?
WINGNUT VOCABULARY
Wingnuts are rarely heard to say anything at all, and usually only when actively engaged in their favorite activity, circle-jerking! Noted anthropologist, Margaret Mead, after living in the field for 30 years in prime wingnut habitat, compiled the following wingnut vocabulary. This is apparently all the words they know.
OOOO

UUUU

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

We’re not there yet, and hopefully never will be, but the tendencies (rhetoric, etc.) and policies normally preceed the actual consolidation of power.”
That’s why we have to be so damn vigilant.”
Examples? You’ve basically made the same post three times, saying the Bush Administration has fascist tendicies and policies, yet haven’t outlined what they are or how that doesn’t make the Bush Administration a “full implementation of a fascist form of government”. If that isn’t vague and evasive I don’t know what is. You are the one that asked to be argued with on this issue, but it’s impossible to debate without facts. So far you’ve provided none.

Interesting that you should accuse a liberal of “hate” and “paranoia.”
Hey Conjob, do you think Ann Coulter’s statement that liberals should be put in “concentration camps” and “executed” falls in the category of “hate?” If so, why haven’t you criticized her?
Hey ConJob, when wingys go around calling us “commies” and “traitors” and “unpatriotic” and “un-American,” do you think that’s “hate” speech? Do you think maybe they don’t like us? Or are we just being paranoid?

A HUGE mystery to me is why none of the Blogs were all over the devastating article in yesterday’s Seattle Times regarding the Democrats principal Law Firm, Preston Gates and their ties to Abramhoff–
http://archives.seattletimes.n.....ston+Gates
This is unbelievable stuff and shows the Dems links to the lobbying cesspool…even though the Seattle Times sanitized it and made it look like this massive law firm was somehow “victims” cuz they were big-time Democrat leaning. Follow the money folks.
This Blog was so concerned about Lobbying improprieties. However now that it has been disclosed how the primary Democrat Law Firm has profited from Abramhoff, the silence is deafening.
John McCain was absolutely right when he bitch-slapped Obama for going back on his word and continuing to politicize the crookedness that both Party’s should be ashamed of.
One of the main solutions to the Lobbying problem is a Flat Tax. Where is Steve Forbes when we need him.

Heck, why not post it, so the cons can see it with their own eyes:
1.) Powerful and Continuing Nationalism: Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
2.) Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights: Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of “need.” The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
3.) Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause: The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
4.) Supremacy of the Military: Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
5.) Rampant Sexism: The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.
6.) Controlled Mass Media: Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
7.) Obsession with National Security: Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses
8.) Religion and Government are Intertwined: Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government’s policies or actions.
9.) Corporate Power is Protected: The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
10.) Labor Power is Suppressed: Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
11.) Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts: Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.
12.) Obsession with Crime and Punishment: Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations
13.) Rampant Cronyism and Corruption: Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
14. Fraudulent Elections: Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Re fascist tendencies — RR got to it before me (see above, 14 characteristics of fascism). I’ve also posted elsewhere about the “mobilizing passions” that fascist regimes (and would-be fascist movements) exploit to encourage the masses to support their accession to/consolidation of power. Fear mongering is one of the most basic elements of these mobilizing passions; just about every time you hear the words “terror”, “terrorist”, “evil”, “9/11”, etc. come out of the pres. or his crew, you are hearing fascist rhetoric.
I’ll repost the precis of how these “mobilizing passions” play themselves out:
“…fascism is more plausibly linked to a set of ‘mobilizing passions’ that shape fascist action than to a consistent and fully articulated philosophy. At bottom is a passionate nationalism. Allied to it is a conspiratorial and Manichean view of history as a battle between the good and evil camps, between the pure and the corrupt, in which one’s own community or nation has been the victim. In this Darwinian narrative, the chosen people have been weakened by political parties, social classes, unassimilabale minorities, spoiled rentiers, and rationalist thinkers who lack the necessary sense of community.”
–Robert O. Paxton, Anatomy of Fascism
And again, those “passions”, according to Paxton, are”
1. A sense of overwhelming crisis beyond the reach of any traditional solutions.
2. The primacy of the group, toward which one has duties superior to every right, whether individual or universal, and the subordination of the individual to it.
3. The belief that one’s group is a victim, a sentiment that justifies any action, without legal or moral limits, against its enemies, both internal and external.
4. Dread of the group’s decline under the corrosive effects of individualistic liberalism, class conflict, and alien influences.
5. The need for closer integration of a purer community, by consent if possible, or by exclusionary violence if necessary.
6. The need for authority by natural leaders (always male), culminating in a national chief who alone is capable of incarnating the group’s destiny.
7. The superiority of the leader’s instincts over abstract and universal reason.
8. The beauty of violence and the efficacy of will, when they are devoted to the group’s success.
9. The right of the chosen people to dominate others without restraint from any kind of human or divine law, right being decided by the sole criterion of teh group’s prowess within a Darwinian struggle.

“1. Pumping up public fears of enemy attack”
Yeah, you’re right the terrorist don’t really want to attack us, we should just ignore all their threats and be happy.
“2. Starting wars”
Um, Saddam started this in 1991, we were just finishing it. Remember all those unenforced UN resolutions? GHW Bush should have knocked Saddam out of power when he had the chance. I don’t think he did because of the hue and cry he knew he’d get from the left. Good move guys.
“3. Torturing people”
Who, enemy combatants? A fascist would torture their own people to create a climate of fear. Name one U.S. citizen that has been tortured.
“4. Harassing dissenters”
I thought being arrested was part of civil disobedience. Is that not true anymore? MLK was harrassed alot more by Democratic administrations than Cindy Sheehan has been by the Bush Admininstration. Are you saying that the Kennedy and Johnson Administrations had fascist tendencies as well?
“5. Suppressing free speech and criticism”
Certaily your rights to post incessently here haven’t been infringed. This is just hyperbole and paranoia on your part. Are you really saying there’s been a systematic suprression of free speech rights by the Bush Administration? If so I think you need some more factual backing to make this point.
“6. Spying on their own citizens”
Actually the focus of the survelience is on foreigners.
“7. Election tampering”
There’s no proof of this, only your delusional fantasies.
“8. Expanding corporate power”
That’s hardly a fascist tendency. Nor do the Republicans have a monopoly on this behavior.
“9. Undermining checks and balances”
I haven’t seen Bush declare martial law, like many have claimed he’d do. So I still see the governmental checks and balances in place. I do wish Congress would grow more of a backbone though, kind of like they did in 1994.
“10. Building concentration camps”
Ironically the president most responsible for defeating fascism, FDR ,must be the ultimate fascist in your mind, since he imprisoned thousands of U.S. citizens during World War II. So where is this “concentration camp” for U.S. citizens Bush has created?
“11. Pursuing cheap labor policies”
Hardly a fascist tendency, but don while holding hands with the Democrats who want more votes.
Or was this list talking about Saddam, instead of Bush?
Roger Rabbit, You post like good terrorist Islam brother! Bush bad! Sadaam, Roger Rabbit good! Praise to Allah!

Hillary Clinton has decided to kiss a little labor union booty and get in on the war against Wal-Mart, America’s biggest private employer. Hillary, of course, thinks that it is the role of government, to decide just how a private company needs to spend its payroll budget. The government should determine what percentage of the payroll budget goes into actual pay, what percentage into pensions, and, of course, what percentage goes into health care. Hillary, being the champion of socialized medicine that she is, believes that the last person to be responsible for an individual’s health care is ….. the individual. Now Hillary is very concerned about the health care benefits Wal-Mart bestows on its employees. Here’s your interesting but probably forgotten little fact. For several years Hillary was on the board of directors of Wal-Mart. She stepped down when her “husband” stepped up to the White House. Not once during that time … not once … did Hillary enter an objection into the record over the amount Wal-Mart was spending on health benefits … and the figure was quite a bit lower than it is right now. This is all about politics and kissing union ass.

Why are Republicans such shameless, conscience-less, fucking liars? This is total bullshit. Complete myth.
Reality check: A lone Democratic lawyer, acting on his own, moved to disqualify military votes that weren’t postmarked (or something like that). Although these votes were legally questionable, the Gore campaign took immediate action to shut this guy down, and immediately and publicly supported the counting of this legally questionable military votes. Doing so probably cost him Florida and the election, but Gore never hestitated; he said, “We have to count the military votes.”
Your post is total bunk, a fucking lie, a rightwing myth.
You know, folks, it’s because of comments like JCH’s post @196 (and many others by him and other trolls) that I just automatically assume anything a Republican says is a lie — because it almost always is.
These Republican liars have no ethics, no integrity, no decency — and they’re stupid! They think they won’t get caught lying. They act like facts don’t exist.

CF’s post, among other things, just shows how effective the GOP propaganda machine has been at framing issues linguistically (and disengenuously at that), as well as a number of questionable double-standards. For instance, the suggestion that we’re now finishing up the war started in ’91 false on its face. To further suggest that it had anything to do with violations of UN resolutions is also specious, since with that standard we should have also gone to war with Turkey, Israel, Armenia, Croatia, Sudan, and several other nations that were in violation of UN resolutions in 2002.
Pop quiz, anyone: how many UN resolutions was Israel in violation of in 2002? How about Turkey? (Ever heard of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus?)
