The omicron variant is being found in several Washington locations. 6 of the 9 cases are in King County. I don’t have any idea if it’s in King County more than the rest of the state, or if more testing is being done in King County.

Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And for goodness sake, if you aren’t vaccinated, get vaccinated, and if you aren’t boosted (boosterized?) get it.

    The first rule of equity investing is that if you have to include your dividends to support your investment decision, you decided wrongly.

    The only stock I bought in 2008 is 125 shares of AT&T for $2,462 on 10/13/08, which I still own. I could have sold those shares Friday for $2,284, so we’ll assume that’s what they’re worth. I’ve collected $3,100 of dividends from those shares. (I’ve added them up.)

    The second rule of equity investing is never be dumbfuck enough to describe your obvious losers as if they are winners. The current DJIA is 217% higher than the average closing DJIA in 2008, and that doesn’t include dividends.

    $2,284 plus $3,100 = $5,384. Subtract my purchase price ($5,384 – $2,462 = $1,922) and that’s my net profit. I’ve owned owned those shares 10 years and 2 months, so let’s divide that by 122 months and multiply by 12. We get ($1,922/122) x 12 = $189 per year. Now divide that by $2,462 and my return is 7.68% a year.

    The third rule of equity investing is never assume that a dividend is anything more than a bribe to entice a dumbfuck to hold onto a loser because he thinks he can spin it into a winner by extolling the virtues of its dividend.

    That’s nearly 77 times what you’re making on your cash sitting in a money market account.

    Berkshire Hathaway doesn’t pay a dividend. Using Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit’s rationale, he’s infinitely more brilliant than Warren Buffett.

    The most important rule of equity investing is don’t be a dumbfuck.. Don’t be Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit.

    Miami’s commuter rail trains may not be able to serve MiamiCentral station due to clearance issues. MiamiCentral was built by the private BrightLine operation. It’s a good operation, has faced a lot of NIMBY suits, from some of the same people who hate Government in Business, but want to tell the Florida East Coast Railway what they can do with their railroad. More worried about short passenger trains than long, slow freight trains, as the FEC was an early disciple of Precision Scheduled Railroading.

    Math lesson for Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit: If you bought your AT&T shares in 2008, you have owned them for 13 or more years, not 10 years, 2 months.

    Unfortunately, Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit, this reduces your annual return to $147, and reduces your ROI to 6.0%. Which is even more pitiful. And laughable.

    I see that Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit is an odd lot investor, having purchased 125 shares of AT&T. Not 100 or 200. 125. For most of us an odd lot purchase is 900 shares of something instead of 1000.

    “A right-wing populist, Bukele has been criticized for governing in an authoritarian manner. In particular, he was denounced for sending soldiers into the Legislative Assembly to encourage the passage of a bill and allegedly to overthrow the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador. This action, his handling of endemic violence in El Salvador, and his strict response to the COVID-19 pandemic have led some academics to describe him as an autocrat or an authoritarian. Transparency International cited El Salvador and Colombia as examples of an ‘explosion of irregularities and corruption cases’ related to the handling of the pandemic in Latin America. Twenty government institutions of the Bukele administration were under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office, until, in May 2021, Bukele led a parliamentarian move to fire the attorney general and five supreme court judges of El Salvador, which has been characterized as a self-coup and sparked fears of democratic backsliding and a power-grab.”

    Today is National Horse Day.

    In 2004, Congress (Senate Res. 452) designated December 13th as National Day of the Horse, and has been celebrated each year since.

    The day was established to encourage U.S. citizens to be mindful of the contribution of horses to the economy, history, and character of the United States.

    Thanks to former US Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell.

    RESOLUTION

    Designating December 13, 2004, as National Day of the Horse and
    encouraging the people of the United States to be mindful of the
    contribution of horses to the economy, history, and character of the
    United States.

    Whereas the horse is a living link to the history of the United States;
    Whereas without horses, the economy, history, and character of the United States
    would be profoundly different;
    Whereas horses continue to permeate the society of the United States, as
    witnessed on movie screens, on open land, and in our own backyards;
    Whereas horses are a vital part of the collective experience of the United
    States and deserve protection and compassion;
    Whereas because of increasing pressure from modern society, wild and domestic
    horses rely on humans for adequate food, water, and shelter; and
    Whereas the Congressional Horse Caucus estimates that the horse industry
    contributes much more than $100,000,000,000 each year to the economy of
    the United States: Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved, That the Senate–
    (1) designates December 13, 2004, as “National Day of the
    Horse”, in recognition of the importance of horses to the
    security, economy, recreation, and heritage of the United
    States;
    (2) encourages all people of the United States to be
    mindful of the contribution of horses to the economy, history,
    and character of the United States; and
    (3) requests that the President issue a proclamation
    calling on the people of the United States and interested
    organizations to observe the day with appropriate programs and
    activities.

    A hundred billion does seem a little high.

    Interesting news out of California, where solar subsidies are going to be slashed.

    Here’s from a LAT piece last month:

    The argument against net metering goes like this: When solar homes lower their energy bills, utility companies collect less revenue. As a result, state regulators have no choice but to let them raise electricity rates for everyone, to help pay for projects such as hardening power lines to prevent wildfire ignitions and installing batteries to keep the lights on after dark.

    And because solar customers are wealthier than the population as a whole, net metering works like a subsidy from the poor to the rich, the policy’s critics say. The amount of money transferred from non-solar households to their net-metered neighbors amounts to $3.4 billion per year in California, the utility industry estimates — a figure known as the cost shift.

    “The program has to change,” said Caroline Choi, Edison’s senior vice president of corporate affairs. “It’s not sustainable when the folks who are least able to afford it are subsidizing those who do have the opportunity.”

    This is what I’ve been tellin’ y’all for years. Solar’s a grift. YLB’s kids pay people like me to install this shit, and some green companies make bank while YLB’s kids see their electricity bills rise so that mine can fall.

    Always follow the money. Hunter Biden knew this when he helped Chinese companies improve their abilities to corner the market on solar battery rare earth elements.

    Can’t do that unilaterally. There’s a lot of domestic political turmoil among European NATO allies that is not aided by confronting Putin right now. And it isn’t just Putin. Go to the library. If you need help, Roger is available. But you’ll have to ask nicely.

    Mr. Swinney was convicted on eleven separate violent felony charges, including second degree assault, fourth degree assault, and unlawful use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. His sentencing was not “enhanced” but it certainly was impacted by his consistent, and frequent statements expressing not only a lack of remorse, but the avowed intention to continue to commit similar violent felonies in American communities if given the opportunity. During his trial he described his victims as “terrorists” described feelings of “joy” upon learning the extent of their injuries.

    I think ten years is very light under the circumstances, given his violent history, his membership in a violent street gang involved in domestic terrorism, his complete lack of remorse, and his statements describing his intentions to continue committing violent crimes. If he was Rollin’ 60s he’d be gone for life.

    Antifa did not try to overthrow democracy on Jan 6. They stayed home and watched on television like the rest of America while Proud Boys did.

    I admit that you were wrong for citing a third hand source about an bad poll that you could not support with anything other than social media opinions. y

    The question was asked. And now we know it. Because yesterday you were dishonest, corrupt, and lazy. But the question was asked badly, in a poorly designed poll conducted in an unscientific manner. And that’s the most logical explanation for why the source was omitted originally, given your consistent record of bullshit. Just ask your “FB friends in CO”.

    It’s a weak signal concealed amidst corrupt data. You needed a shirtless end-zone dance. So you made one up. That’s what you do.

    I have been, some may say, unkind to the Vice President. In my opinion she deserves it.

    That having been said, I wish to point out this item:

    U.S. Treasury allocates $8.7 bln to community, minority lenders

    WASHINGTON, Dec 14 (Reuters) – U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Tuesday announced more than $8.7 billion in capital investments in community development financial institutions and minority-owned banking firms to boost lending in disadvantaged areas, the Treasury said.

    The capital allocation for 186 institutions is part of $12 billion in funding provided for CDFIs and minority banks included in coronavirus relief and government funding passed at the end of 2020 and signed into law by former President Donald Trump.

    According to one of her communications people, @HerbieZiskend46, then-Senator Harris wrote the bill resulting in this legislative achievement in 2020.

    Which probably means that I should verify that she wasn’t just one of 47 co-signers, but I digress.

    Anyway, if one concedes that what ol’ Herbie says is true, it would have been better for Reuters to have mentioned it.

    More on @ 48

    It’s an amendment to the CARES Act. https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/senate-bill/4255/text

    Harris might have been involved crafting it, but it was introduced by Senator Mark Warner, who got the billing as sponsor:

    Sponsor: Sen. Warner, Mark R. [D-VA] (Introduced 07/21/2020)

    Harris was one of three co-sponsors on the bill introduction date. So was Cory Booker. So was Chuck Schumer.

    Now we know why Reuters didn’t include a note that Harris wrote the bill. It’s because she didn’t.

    And yet, here’s what her Deputy Communications Director tweeted our this morning:

    Herbie Ziskend
    @HerbieZiskend46

    NEWS THIS AM

    The @VP is joining @SecYellen today to announce $8.7 billion in funding to support small and minority-owned businesses.

    This is part of $12b in funding for community lenders – the result of a bill then-Senator Harris wrote in 2020.

    Wouldn’t be the first time Kamala has taken credit for work that largely belongs to others. But hey, since she spends so much time blaming her staff for her own failures, let’s blame this one on ol’ Herbie, shall we?

    New York’s ethics watchdog panel ordered disgraced ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo to return the $5.1 million in profits from his pandemic book deal to the state next month.

    The extraordinary resolution was approved by the Joint Commission on Public Ethics on Tuesday in a 12 to 1 vote — coming a month after the ethics agency voted to revoke its prior approval allowing Cuomo to earn outside income from his book, “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic” while he was still governor and New York was still battling the deadly viral bug.

Meredith was apprehended after he carried thousands of rounds of armor piercing ammunition and a collection of firearms to the “tourist” event with the avowed intent to “burn DC to the ground”.

    The judge issued a downward departure in part due to Meredith’s full cooperation with the FBI and DOJ, his behavior as a model prisoner cooperating with BOP pretrial services and assistance in gaining the cooperation of other Jan 6th domestic terrorists. The judge however appeared largely unmoved by Meredith’s expressions of regret which included “I don’t want anything to do with politics again”.

    Far from an isolated incident, episodes of this kind of political stalking and threat to public servants are now a daily occurrence in America. And as bad as this is, and as costly as this is, it will absolutely get worse if Democrats don’t turnout and vote. This is just one part of a much larger Republican effort to attack and undermine the institutions of democracy in America. Given the power and the opportunity nobody will be safe from them.
