Via Politico:
…Politico’s Ken Vogel has confirmed that former King County Executive Ron Sims has resigned his senior post at the federal department of Housing and Urban Development. He then wonders if it has anything to do with Monday’s decision by Gov. Chris Gregoire to retire after two terms. Sims lost to Gregoire in the 2004 Democratic primary.
An announcement of a gubernatorial bid from Jay Inslee is imminent. Would a Sims run throw a wrench into the works with the top two primary? I doubt it…we’ll still have a Democrat (probably Inslee) running against McKenna.
Could it be that Sims is really eying a congressional race in the 1st or 7th LD? My gut feeling is that Sims is much, much more interested in an executive position than a legislative position….

I vote for Governor. Let’s see the Sims plan get back into the mix!
Then again… Sims would have to be a miracle worker to fight off the Eymanist attack dogs and get the legislature behind him.
Tlazolteotl spews:
I did not put two and two together until now….would be an interesting development.
Brenda Helverson spews:
I like Sims, but he has lost several Statewide races while Inslee has a record as a winner. I hope that Sims has a plan that does not include running for Governor.
Maybe he’s just tired of DC. I know that I would be.
Politically Incorrect spews:
How about somebody not from King County , for a change?

BTW, if you’re looking for a place to sign I-1149 in Pierce County, Natures Resource Center at 602 E 25th Street, Suite 78 in Tacoma is a place to sign. It’s in a place called Freight-house Square, and it’s downstairs from the main floor. Pretty easy to find. It’s about the only place in the Tacoma area where you can sign for I-1149.

Here’s a question for you East Puget Sound folks that know this better:
How do you think King County would vote (margin of Sims over McKenna) if the election were held today – given that both are locals?
If the Sims’ margin isn’t reliably huge (as I suspect it wouldn’t be) Sims has got to be thinking of doing something else besides Governor.

We need a Governor like Scott Walker from Wisconsin who will stand up to the Unions.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that the state’s union rights law can go into effect, giving Republican Gov. Scott Walker a huge, huge victory.
Walker pushed the law that eliminates most of public employees’ collective bargaining rights and forces them to pay more for their health and pension benefits. It’s needed for the state to address its budget problems.
“The Supreme Court’s ruling provides our state the opportunity to move forward together and focus on getting Wisconsin working again,” Walker said.
Great day for Wisconsin taxpayers.

Corrected.
YLB spews:
Corrected.
Michael spews:
Let’s hope not.
Sims and Gregoire belong in the category of folks who’ve done good work in the past, but don’t have the right mindset, skill set, and vision to do good work in the now and the future.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@7 Well whaddya know! The four Republicans on the Wisconsin supreme court voted to uphold the Republican governor’s union stripping bill just after one of them was “re-elected” when a Republican county clerk who has repeatedly failed to follow state election procedures “found” 14,000 more ballots in canvas bags with holes in them big enough to reach a hand through.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Meanwhile, Wisconsin’s Republican governor and Republican legislature are “solving” the “budget crisis” that necessitated Walker’s union-stripping bill by enacting hundreds of millions of dollars of new tax breaks for businesses.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Republican = take $892 million for public schools and give it to rich manufacturers by reducing the state manufacturing tax from 7.8% to 0.4%.
Roger Rabbit spews:
It’ll be interesting to see how Wisconsin voters react to this hypocrisy on July 12.

Question @ # 7: Deconstructed:
We need a Governor like Scott Walker from Wisconsin who will stand up to the Unions.
Why? The public sector unions in Washington State have already been a punching-bag and been relatively cooperative despite repeated raids on their bargaining agreements.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that the state’s union rights law can go into effect, giving Republican Gov. Scott Walker a huge, huge victory.
A temporary one, at best. The recall elections will change the balance of power in the Senate, and the governor will be subject to recall a year later. He may find it all undone within a short time. He will find this a very expensive victory, one that he may not be able to afford politically.
Walker pushed the law that eliminates most of public employees’ collective bargaining rights and forces them to pay more for their health and pension benefits. It’s needed for the state to address its budget problems.
The state’s budget problems were entirely of Walker’s creation, when he gave big tax breaks to his buddies and then sought to pay for them on the backs of the working peoople. Besides, the state employee unions already agreed to the economic concessions, but Walker ignored them and tried for the home run – crushing the unions. It’s part of a much wider Republican plan to attack groups which contribute to Democratic candidates – a purely partison act.
He’s also said a lot of other stuff, but right after the election Wisconsin voters found out it was all lies.
No, Walker is going to go right back to those taxpayers and try to balance the budget on their backs, while giving even more tax breaks to the wealthy and certain favored corporations. The average working taxpayer is going to find that they are paying far more in the long run under Walker’s administration than if they had left well enough alone.
Uh oh Jongo! spews:
The only thing Sims would bring to Olympia is the crookery and cronism that pervades King Co..
Roger Rabbit spews:
@16 You mean like the Wright family using their pull to shove a for-profit glass bazaar onto land where a family entertainment complex used to be?
don spews:
@16
Well then, if Olympia is currently devoid of crookery and cronyism, why do Republicans whine so much about the place?
Uh oh Jongo! spews:
@18
Oh, Oly is certainly full of cronyism and crookery, so I suppose a crook like Sims would fit right in…he would just bring that special flavor, or smell, of King County with him.
LD spews:
Oh Please4 Please Ron Sims, run for governor of the state…You did such a grand job of KC.
Michael spews:
@4
Jay Inslee lives in Kitsap County and served one term in congress in the 4th CD.
K spews:
He’s a better fit for Mayor
Michael spews:
@22
Sims’s best fit is retirement. There’s a slew of talented people out there and it’s time to brig in some new blood.
Politically Incorrect spews:
@21,
OK. That’s fine by me. He’ll do.
question spews:
Wisconsin is being flooded with businesses moving from Illinois & California. They are willing to compete rather than make things worse like Illinois & California.
It’s like shootin’ ducks in a barrel.
Walker is a hero to many unemployed who actually want to be able to fish for a living, rather than have some leftist a$$hole hand him a fish everyday.
That’s the difference between Conservatives & Leftists. Conservatives believe folks generally want to have opportunity. Leftists believe the average Joe is so stupid & incompetent he cannot fend for himself and needs welfare.
Mathew"RennDawg"Renner spews:
Please Ron run, McKenna will beat him easily if he is the nomination. More Dems run. Get in Dow and get in Aaron get in and Brian Sontage and Brad get in. All get in. The results? With the top two primary we will get 2 GOP nominees.
