“Where’s Rossi?” Day 43

So where’s Dino Rossi? Well according to the Spokane Spokesman-Review (boneheaded, paid-subscription required), the man who claims to be “taking a well-deserved break from politics,” is actually out in Spokane… campaigning.

In his blue suit, pressed white shirt and red tie, Dino Rossi appears every inch the candidate.

He’s got a book on leadership coming out.

He’s making a few select speaking appearances, like the one this morning to Republican state Senate leaders meeting in Spokane.

He’s returning the favor of friends who helped with his past campaigns, down to recording a few automated “robo-calls” for candidates in the 2005 election.

Yeah… sure… except for all the campaigning and political stuff he’s doing, he’s taking a break from politics.

What a load of crap.

So Dino… as long as you’re returning favors of friends who helped with past campaigns, how about returning a favor to the business community that bankrolled your run for governor? Why not record one of those robo-calls, asking voters not to support I-912? Or at the very least, why not just stake out a public position on an issue on which you’ve surely taken a private one… the most contentious issue on the November ballot?

Where’s Rossi on I-912? We’ll probably never know, because he’s apparently too busy campaigning for governor to display the kind of leadership necessary to be one.

Obviously you haven’t figured out that you will never get an answer on this. Give it up already. Crissy wanted in, she fanagled her way in, she’s here, she went against her campaign promises as well as against the will of the people and created this mess. The people revolted, I-912 will pass and that’s the end of it. Rossi is sitting back laughing as he rightfully should.

    Goldy,

You clearly backed the wrong candidate for Governor. Why is it that you hang on Rossi’s every word? Is he THAT important and influential as a (quasi-)public figure? If so, one would think that such a person should be the one in the mansion in Olympia instead of someone who turns her back on campaign promises (taxes) and provides shady payback to campaign supporters (Indian casinos).

I understand that all loyal Dems have no opinions until they’re handed down from Dem “leadership” (or subliminally downloaded from MorOn.org). Perhaps you were too busy trying to slime Irons and missed the memo. But I think your fearless leaders would be more than a bit concerned that you’re so feverishly looking to Dino Rossi for guidance. Who knows? Maybe you’re at the turning point of the old saying, “If you’re 20 and not a Dem you have no heart. If you’re 40 and not a Republican, you have no brain.”

Goldy’s “vigil” is clearly a stalking-horse to try and get Rossi to comment either way so Goldy can criticize him. Incessantly pushing the issue only makes that more clear, and as a result makes Goldy sound more shrill and ridiculous.

The real question is where is Governor Gregoire who actually signed the 9-1/2 cent/gallon GasTax increase despite a clear message that she wouldn’t???
It is comical….your gal is Governor. She should be out in front on this issue EVERY SINGLE DAY! Yet where in the hell is she??? It’s almost like Goldy desperately wants Rossi to be Queen for a Day! Sorry Goldy, Gregoire is the Governor and she has apparently evaporated!!!!!!! Isn’t that what happens to hot, damp air…..it evaporates!

This is clearly Goldy’s most pathetic, desperate stab to deflect attention away from the poor performance of his pal Smilin’ Ron Sims. Rather than discuss key election issues like Sims performance on CAO, SWA, the Election Dept and transportation issues the past 12 years, Goldy discusses citizen Rossi’s lack of leadership????
This is ALMOST as bad as Goldy dredging up a crazed mom’s uncorroborated allegations from 11 years ago!
Goldy has been scraping the bottom of the barrel so long and hard, that the barrel seems to have sprung a leak.
    Sims is in huge trouble.
    Goldy deflects.
    Predictable….it ain’t working.
If Sims wins==========================Logan keeps his job.
    If Sims loses=========================Logan is FIRED!!!
If David Irons wins===================Logan is FIRED!!!

As for landslides, Gregoire is doing everything she can to get herself buried in one. First, she goes back on campaign promises (taxes). He does, where did he say that? He said that in 2004, he lost that election. As a result, until announcing he’s running again, he is a private citizen.

“So this GUY…Rossi…won’t take a stand on an important public policy issue that requires, well, leadership.”

I didn’t realize there was a requirement for a private citizen to take a stand on an issue, simply because a left wing blogger demands that he or she does does so.

“Not much of a leader then is he?”

Where’s Christine? Maybe she’s being fitted for a red and white striped shirt and hat. I’d say she’s shown even less leadership than you’ve accused Rossi of showing.

I would think the Governor would be out stumping for the defeat of I-912, since she used a lot of political capital to get the gas tax passed. Maybe she doesn’t want to be so closely associated with a losing cause, further damaging her already fragile standing with the public.

Well maybe he is just not a flat out liar like Queen Christine, who headlined ad all over campaign web page all the times Rossi had raised taxes, but that she, never ever ever ever had raised taxes on the people of Washington. Well she no longer needs to keep a back-up of that page, cause she won’t be able to lie about her tax raising any more. Bring on 2008 and Rossi can post all her tax hikes on his web page. GO Rossi!

    “journalists must be objective”

    HA (repeated).

Dan Rather is a journalist but he doesn’t seem very objective to me.

    “activists are, by definition, partisan.”

    Here’s the definition of activism:

“The use of direct, often confrontational action, such as a demonstration or strike, in opposition to or support of a cause.”

An activist isn’t “by definition” partisan, since they are tied to a cause. If you are implying political activists are always partisans, I’d generally agree with you. I’d also think there are exceptions to this rule.

Prediction – the next pick will be a true conservative, hopefully in the mold of Scalia or Bork. It will drive the lefties wild and take Plamegate, Delaygate, etc. off the airwaves for the next two months, which will increase the tizzy-fit even more.

BTW, I’m not a Republican. So you’re wrong on two counts.

Actually he’s not just a private citizen, but also a U.S. Senate candidate. How can you be sure he’ll never hold public office? Did you get the inside scoop on the 2006 election results from yourself? (You’re Dean Logan right?)

Washington Levies Sales Tax above National Median; Cigarette Tax Fourth Highest in the Nation:
Washington levies a 6.5% general sales or use tax on consumers, well above the national median of 5%. The state collects approximately $1,347 per person per year in sales taxes (highest in the nation). Washington’s gasoline tax stands at $0.28 per gallon (3rd highest), while its cigarette tax stands at $1.425 per pack of twenty (4th highest). The sales tax was adopted in 1933, the gasoline tax in 1921 and the cigarette tax in 1935.

    According to this site: http://www.taxfoundation.org/r.....ic/65.html
it takes Washingtonians working until April 20th to cover their Tax burden… Thats the 8th worst in the country…

I guess we should stop buying crap we don’t need, move closer to work and quit smoking cigars! wait… did I just say that!
