Karl Rove spoke at American University last night, and while I’m sure the invited guests were enthralled, he didn’t exactly get a rousing reception from the masses.
Cliff Schecter, an American University alum, describes the events:
Rove, in usual elitist/slimy GOP fashion, only spoke to what Nietzsche might call the “splendid blond beasts” who make up the Young Republican idiot core. You know who these losers are, the people on your campus who split most of their time between defending date rape, working to get professors fired for not praising Pinochet and watching German shiza videos.
Well, Rove got a rude reception at American, in the form of students protesting him and trying to block his car as he left–calling for his arrest for violating the Presidential Records Act. As someone who has recently called for Rove to go to prison myself, I sympathize.
Hmm. Rove will be in town, celebrating Abraham Lincoln’s assassination with the King County Republicans this Saturday, April 14. Perhaps we should organize him a big Seattle welcome, WTO style?

I have been incensed with the treatment that I have received from Dwight Pelz, chair of the State Democratic Party, and unfortunately took that anger out on these two individuals. Even though the State Party does not endorse candidates, Mr. Pelz has been telling people not to vote for me, has refused to let me leave literature at State Party events and his staff stated that they would throw my literture in the trash if we left materials at State Party events. Despite efforts to obtain access to the voter files prior to the State Party Convention in early June, I did not obtain access to the files until about a week before the September 19th primary. Mr. Pelz has even gone out of his way to speak to me quite nastily at a couple of events. So my quarrel is with Mr. Pelz and the State Party and I should not have taken it out on McDermott or Burner. While there may be those that disagree, the Democratic State Party could be improved as could the primary system. Both parties largely control what candidates make it through the primary and they should not also control how voters vote on primary day.”

After reportedly defending his April 4 description of the Rutgers University women’s basketball team, which is comprised of eight African-American and two white players, as “nappy-headed hos,” on the April 6 edition of MSNBC’s Imus in the Morning, host Don Imus apologized for the remark. Imus called his comments “insensitive and ill-conceived,” adding that “[i]t was completely inappropriate, and we can understand why people were offended.” He further called the comments “thoughtless and stupid.”

There was one big hoohah in Washington yesterday as House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers pulled down the pants on George Bush’s firing of US Attorneys to expose a scheme to punish prosecutors who wouldn’t bend to political pressure.
But the Committee missed a big one: Timothy Griffin, Karl Rove’s assistant, the President’s pick as US Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas. Griffin, according to BBC Television, was the hidden hand behind a scheme to wipe out the voting rights of 70,000 citizens prior to the 2004 election.

Have the Washington state legislature issue Mr. Rove a subpoena, to answer questions — on the record, and most certainly under oath — about exactly his knowledge of our 2004 governor’s race, and if he had any involvement in attempts to get then-U.S. Attorney McKay to investigate. Our state’s legislature has a compelling interest in any possible tampering with our elections processes, and thus, full power to question Mr. Rove, under oath. If he leaves the state without answering the subpoena, the state can issue a warrant for his arrest.
Richard Pope spews:
Roger Rabbit @ 13
I never said he was the same “Thomas Hays”. I said it raised suspicion that required a thorough investigation by the State Department of the fellow’s identity before issuing him a passport.
In many cases — such as where the petitioner knows the respondent really well — protection order petitions include the full name and date of birth of the respondent. This is especially true in domestic violence petitions, where the parties have probably been involved for some time and know each other pretty well.
In this case, the petitioner only stated that “Thomas Hays” was a white male. She did not provide a more complete name, or an exact date of birth. This would be consistent with the respondent being a stranger with whom the petitioner did not have an ongoing relationship.
There are four other “Thomas Hays” voter registrations in the state of Washington, besides our passport applicant. There are also a couple of “Thomas Hays” people in the court database that aren’t registered to vote. However, our “Thomas Hays” does have a logical connection to Thurston County — he attends college in Olympia. I haven’t figured the connection that any other “Thomas Hays” may have to Thurston County.
Obviously, the State Department has the need to verify the exact identity of the “Thomas Hays” passport applicant and determine whether or not he is also the “Thomas Hays” in the sexual assault protection order proceeding in Thurston County.
Presumably, the actual court record in Olympia would shed some light on this. For example, the petitioner would have been required to describe the alleged sexual assault in writing. Do the allegations include anything about Evergreen, Democrat politics, or “peace” activism?
The court docket (which I get on-line) shows the respondent fellow actually showed up at the hearing. Maybe he testified and provided further information about who he was. Even if he chose to remain “silent” about the facts of the case, the audio CD recording probably has his voice saying something, and that could be compared.
The respondent also provided a mailing address, which could be compared with the P.O. Box he uses in Seattle, or mailing addresses at Evergreen, and inquiries could be made at this address to see if he is a current or former resident.
There is an appeal in superior court. That “Thomas Hays” appears to be represented by an attorney. If so, is it the same attorney that is representing the “Thomas Hays” with passport problems?
In any event, I don’t owe an apology to the passport “Thomas Hays”, even if they are not the same people. I haven’t accused him of anything. I merely pointed out a reason why his passport application might have been subject to greater than normal scrutiny.
Obviously, it would be unfortunate if our passport “Thomas Hays” is having bureaucratic problems due to confusion with a very unsavory person by the same name. If so, it is much better for him to find out now, rather than later.

I wonder if, perhaps, this person also didn’t know her Hays well enough to be certain of the spelling of his name. If there are four voters with the name Thomas Hays in Washington, how many are there with the name Thomas Hayes? Twenty? Fifty? And how many of them have Thurston County connections?
Besides, if this is the
excusereason for the holdup of Hays’s passport — rather than the political retribution alleged by Hays (which, in the days of Dubya, has an Occam’s razor logic to it) — then how in the world would asking for hisdo anything to resolve questions arising from this alleged protection order?
On a larger scale, how dare the government ask him, or anyone, for “religious records”? In response to such a question, I might consider showing them this or this, or maybe this. If I wanted to direct them more to my roots, maybe I’d give them this.

And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

Don Joe spews:
Silly Puddy,
So many things I have to explain to you. You have eyes, but you do not see; ears, but you do not hear; neither do you understand.
You fail to grasp the distinction between belief and knowledge. Whether or not I believe the Bible is rather irrelevant. You are the professed Christian, which means you are bound by its precepts. When I pointed that your conduct does not accord with those precepts, your excuse was that, because a bunch of people who are not bound by its precepts don’t live up to them, it’s somehow OK for you to not live up to those precepts. If your profession of faith does not manifest itself in deeds, then your profession of faith is empty.
As for other verses of Matthew, the section that begins with verse 15 is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, you, like most Christians, stop reading at verse 15. “By their fruits ye shall know them.” Not only does Jesus warn us about false prophets, He gives us a standard we can use to tell the difference between true and false prophets.
The question that no Christian has ever been able to answer for me is, if we would never have to distinguish between true and false prophets, why did Jesus give us a standard by which we can tell truth from falsehood?

Looks like Orbi’s unhinged hard-on for Goldy just won’t go down.
On Orbusmax today:
710 KIRO TALK SHOW HOST INCITING VIOLENCE?”Hmm. Rove will be in town, celebrating Abraham Lincoln’s assassination with the King County Republicans this Saturday, April 14. Perhaps we should organize him a big Seattle welcome, WTO style?…”
Uh, no Orbi. Inciting violence would involve directly advocating actual violence against Rove/friends/family.
Rove faces “WTO style” protests at every event is because he’s a soon-to-be indicted head-conspirator. It’s called Occam’s Razor, bub.
Funny how someone who pretends to understand the Constitution… oh, nevermind.

Why has the Democratic Party turned themselves into the party of hate?
Has it ever occured to anyone that it is unhealthy to let yourself be consumed by hate?
It is an embarrasment to the Democratic party to crash a private event no matter what you think of this guy.
No class.

More proof on the hatred and the sheer evil of the radical left. I wish I could be up there to get in your faces and counter-protest.

Give us all a GIANT fuggin break Amazed. Thanks for calling-out the black pot, Mr. Kettle
First off, let’s start with Karl Rove’s total racist ratfucking of John McCain. If that doesn’t count as hatred (ie the stoking of “southern sensibilities”), than I don’t know what does. If this kind of brown-shirt mobilization doesn’t deserve some sort of counter-demonstration, again ^
Secondly, the grand-championship of neo-brownshirt mobilization (in all it’s derivations) will always go to Freepers
See the following:
News Poll Freeping(note: these are never scientific polls, so no one should ever give 2 shits anyway)
Freepers Supporting Bush moral bankruptcy via demonstration crashing
Posting address of so-called “opponents” with veiled threats
