    Let’s say Musk & Co. fire a million federal employees. That adds a million people to the unemployment rolls. If they each collect $10,000 of unemployment benefits that’s a $10 billion expense. They will, of course, stop paying Social Security and income taxes, so government will also take a large hit to revenue.
