    Russia’s central bank announced emergency measures on Wednesday after the ruble slumped to its lowest level against the US dollar in over two-and-a-half years.

    Fears of a major escalation in the almost three-year Ukraine conflict have hammered the Russian currency in recent weeks, with fresh Western sanctions adding to the strain.

    Throttling posts with links gave news orgs all the excuse they needed to try out something else.

    The results have been eye opening.

    In its first week on the platform & with 300k followers, Bluesky traffic from @theguardian.com posts is already higher than it was from TwX in any week in 2024, where the account had 10.8m followers

    The more of these organizations start showing how much more traffic and engagement they are getting , the more start posting on BlueSky, The more content that is available on BlueSky, the more the existing users use it, talk about it on Social Media, the more realize an actual Twatter alternative is up and running.

    While we’re on the subject CFPB enacted a rule stating that unsubscribing should be as easy/obvious on the site as subscribing.

    Because Chevron is gone it took about 24 hours for that to be put on hold.

    Interesting though that you consider the SOP of subscription based services, both online and physical like gyms or magazines ‘Cheating’.
