Venmo default settings, you can turn them off, allow anyone who is ‘friends’ to see who you’ve sent or received money. If the payer added a note like ‘Pizza’ ‘Cable Bill’ they can see that too. If you aren’t ‘friends’ but you’ve paid or received from the same contact you can also click on that contact and see what the third person’s history with your common contact is. It’s a huge privacy thing that many users are only vaguely aware of.

But what that also means is that some individuals who have grown accustomed to preferential treatment and privileged engagement owing to some perception of status will be terribly disappointed with their experience.

Matt Gaetz is the Representative-elect for the First Congressional District of Florida. There is no “right” of resignation in the Constitution. The majority of voters in his district chose him to served as their representative in the 119th Congress scheduled to convene on January 3rd of next year.
He’s not unemployed. He made a deal. Likely it was a deal engineered well ahead of the announcement of his appointment as Attorney General. It would be incredibly naive to suggest that this was not worked out ahead of time in consideration of what the ethics committee report contains and it’s anticipated publication upon the termination of the current 118th Congress.
Gaetz’s best and only option to remain in politics is this deal, assuming that the GOP House leadership can hold their caucus together. Even under these circumstances there is considerable risk that the report leaks. It will be another test of Johnson’s consistent weakness. But Gaetz’s fate now rests in his hands. Any other appointment would almost guarantee the report is released.
Now consider what the report must contain in order for Gaetz to have been forced to seek such a deal.
