Of course Republicans don’t want to face any of this. But all the people living outside of that bubble see it all very differently. Even family members and loved ones with the greatest sympathy to the newly convicted resign themselves to at least the simple truth that the convicted made their own mistakes. They may beg for mercy and forgiveness. But they don’t pretend that their loved one didn’t do this to themselves with their own stupid decisions.

Some day down the road those improprieties might produce a result on a post conviction appeal. But for now at least Hunter Biden has only himself to blame for the fact that he is in trial.
There was no “setup”. David Weiss may have been improperly influenced in his negotiations and decisions by partisan Republican lawmakers. But he isn’t “rigging” anything. The “Trump appointed” judge presiding over the trial isn’t running a “kangaroo court”. And the jury will render a verdict according to the law and the instructions given to them by the judge, not according to the dictates of a dead Venezuelan dictator.

An interesting poll from Franklin & Marshall. They had a poll in the field when Trump’s guilty verdict was announced in PA-10 where House Freedom Caucus member Scott Perry who has been in Congress since 2013 is running for re-election. About 2/3rds of the poll responses happened before the verdict and the rest after.
The topline of the poll is this is statistically about even with Perry up 45-44 with 11% undecided.
What’s interesting for a guy who last won with 54% of the vote in 2022 is those surveyed before the verdict broke 49-42 FOR Perry with 9% undecided. Those after broke 47-39 with 14% undecided for Stelson.
Republicans have held the 10th since 2008.

Somehow people must realize the disconnect between all those new job-holders and 400,000 fewer employed people in the same month.
