They will instruct R0SSI to amend his PDC reports to report the G.0.P. Party in-kind contributions, and leave it at that.
I will say that R0SSI, facially at least, has a plausible (although extremely weak) excuse. If your supporter makes an in-kind contribution, and you don’t know about it, what are you supposed to do?
On the other hand, it shows horrible management by R0SSI of his campaign finances. There are more examples of that, actually.
33
rhp6033spews:
32: I would agree that “in kind” contributions are capable of going unnoticed, depending upon their source. For example, if I spent several thousand dollars printing up flyers in support of Gregoire and hiring some people to put them on people’s doorknobs, it is an “in-kind” contribution, but not necessarily one which Gregoire would know about, unless it made the news or a Gregoire high-level manager happened to get one on his front door.
But since the Republican “in-kind” contribution came from the Republican Party, you would expect that there would be considerable discussion between the campaign accounting staffs back and forth. After all, a lot of campaign events have dual benefits for both Rossi, the Republican Party in general, aw well as other Republican candidates. I can see a lot of discussion about who pays which bills, and who gets what amount from funds raised at such events.
But then, Rossi’s never been a “details” sort of guy – he just wants to be the “big picture” guy, and doesn’t want to get down-and-dirty with the numbers – as his transportaiton plan evidenced.

Richard Pope @62: You’re probably right. The thing I find quite concerning, however, is that the PDC is not enforcing the law equally. They are throwing the book at some candidates while others seem to get a pass no matter how egregious the violations.
The PDC is also not enforcing the rule that says they have to identify the sub-vendor when political consultants do work for a campaign. We don’t get to know how much is REALLY spent on the various components of the job. In light of the recent Alaska indictment against William Weimar, who allegedly conspired with “Consultant A”, a “Seattle” political consultant, I can see the potential for shady dealings that go undetected. In the case of Weimar, the indictment says he funneled $20,000 in cash (divided into two $8500 payments and one $3000 payment to evade currency reporting requirements)to this local consultant with instructions to keep it from going through the campaign’s books. Weimar supposedly knew his candidate, if elected, would vote his way on some private prison development.
The Anchorage Daily News has linked some interesting documents, including the Plea Agreement and Factual Basis for Plea.
The Anchorage Daily News suggests that Madison Communications is Consultant A, although they did not come right out and say so definitively. I figure it won’t be long before we all know who is who. Weimer pled guilty to mail and wire fraud and structuring financial transactions.

Seriously.
We may disagree on some stuff…but I’m sure you aren’t a zealot like the LEFTIST PINHEADED KLOWNS who feed on the cockroach macaca. You are a critical thinker..not a spewer of vulgarity and venom. That’s good.
Listen, to not hold Gregoire accountable for the $2.9 BILLION deficit for the upcoming biennium would mean YOU actually believe she had absolutely no choices in her spending.
That is patently FALSE SJ.
The voters mandated salary increases when the economy was good. It has turned and Gregoire knew it when she hid behind that vote and spent the money anyway..it was money to her main supporters!
And now Gregoire has the nerve to campaign and minimize the problem…offering no specific solutions other than things might get better, it’s Bush’s Fault and what will Rossi do??
What will she cut?
What taxes will she increase?
Fair questions, wouldn’t you agree?
Don’t be so glum SJ.
It will be over in less than 3 months………..then a new cycle will begin.

@34 “does oppose Roe” “has said he will not address this as guv”
What if Roe vs Wade is overturned during a Rossi administration? Do you think he would continue to not address the issue? Why do you believe him in the first place?

“Mr. Cynical spews:
**State Retirement Fund had a $5.1 BILLION deficit (underfunded) @ 6/30/07. $38 BILLION invested in stocks. Markets DOWN about 10% since 6/30/07 meaning DEFICIT could be $7-8 BILLION.And much, much more.”
And Republicans like you wanted to privatize Social Security and you make a statement like that.
You only prove how out of step conservatism is with mainstream America.
Prepare to stand down, Mr.Cynical. Your party’s time has come to an end.

If Rove vs. Wade get’s overturned, the abortion issue ends up right back with the states. That does make it a relevant issue in the gubenatorial campaign.
Rossi apparantly is campaigning for head of an oil company, and wants to complain about high gas prices and traffic jams. Anything else he doesn’t want to talk about – including the fact that he doesn’t have any realistic way to address either problem.
