Not necessarily. Both Winston Churchill and John F. Kennedy used amphetamines. Meth is just a variation on those same amphetamines. The reason why meth is so dangerous today is because their purity is extremely high (due to the fact that the industry is controlled by criminals who actually want it to be as addictive as possible) as opposed to before we starting trying to criminalize the behavior in the 60s.

That’s awful, Roger, and I’m sorry to hear that. What I’m hoping to do with my blogging is to raise awareness to the fact that the danger comes from prohibition, much moreso than it comes from the drugs themselves. Amphetamine use was quite safe before the government decided that it needed to step in and make people’s decisions for them. I’ve decided to devote my life to making this very important point so that we can stop seeing so many lives destroyed.

lee….amphetamine use was NEVER “quite safe” as you put it.it hurts the cause to make ridiculous claims like that and you should really know better. amphetamines by their very nature are not safe in any way. period.never have been, never will be. that’s just the way it is.

    Incorrect:

    http://www.a1b2c3.com/drugs/amp02.htm

In the United States in the 1950s, legally manufactured tablets of methamphetamine (a stronger form of amphetamine) were used non medically by college students, truck drivers, and athletes. These people usually did not become severely addicted, this was usually because the use was for a purpose other than recreational.

Here’s another good read from Reason, which looks at how the military still defends its willingness to give amphetamines to pilots in order to increase readiness while the DEA continues to exaggerate its danger:

lee…your willingness to brand every drug as safe so you can see them legalized is foolish and really makes me wonder what you are really up to.drugs are only as safe as their content and use.
in the 50’s there were tons of housewives etc. that were addicted to amphetamines. you remind me of the idiots in the 1970’s that claimed cocaine wasn’t addictive either.
you DO NOT have an MD or any other medical or scientific training…obviously. so you should not act as if you do.
in this case you absolutely DO NOT know what you are talking about.
for you to scream “they are safe!!!” is as ludicrous as the “evil weed” films they made in the 30’s. it just makes you as easily dismissed by intelligent people as we dismiss the claims the other way………
if drugs are to be legalized [which only makes sense] how on earth does it make sense for you to try and get them legalized in the same manner they were declared illegal? by hyperbole and ludicrous claims?
i know you are a screaming liberal but , just once, do you think you could ‘grok the fullness’ of the fact that the end DOES NOT justify the means?
    just once?

I’m not saying that cocaine or amphetamines aren’t addictive. What I’m saying is that the number of deaths from amphetamines or cocaine is miniscule compared to two legal drugs, alcohol and nicotine. Tons of housewives throughout this nation’s history have been addicted to alcohol (and other drugs).

All drugs have relative risks, but the deadliness of meth today is a result of drug prohibition, not the result of amphetamines in general being particularly dangerous.

Be honest, we all profile. Come on. When someone says rapists in the context of politics I would guess even you liberals would think of a democrat. I know the first name that comes to my mind is Clinton or Kennedy. You donks have a little hosesty left don’t ya. Geeesh.

And you’d be wrong. People of both political parties commit that crime. The reason I brought up my old boss in another thread (Kenneth Freeman, the man who will stand trial soon in Spokane) was because he was a very staunch Republican, but I have never, ever thought about claiming that because of that, I can then say “all rapists must be Republicans!” That would be idiotic, but apparently that’s fine by you.

You might want to diversify your goals a little. Don’t-put-all-your-eggs-in-one-basket stuff, ya know. For example, I’m trying to change the world by posting on HorsesAss.org, but if that doesn’t work out I still might have some stock market profits to fall back on, but if that doesn’t work out, there’s always the carrot garden out back.

interesting how goldy/lee/will ad nauseum keep deleting puddy’s comments. what? FREE SPEECH is just too scary for you?
what little cowards you all are!
why don’t you delete roger’-goldy’s BS and save everyone the time it takes to scroll past his crap. because guys,i’ll bet that’s what just about everyone does……..and you know it. it’s sad when a blogger [goldy] has to ‘salt’ his site with fake comments just so he can have the same sock puppet scream “we have more comments than the other blog[sp] and they don’t have a radio show either!”.
i didn’t realize that you got anything other than ‘bragging’ rights on number of comments. it’s not like you even win any of the silly liberal blogger awards and yet, here you are, instead of earning real money for a very real future you are using your imagination and playing pretend like a child. now that’s just really sad.
roger/goldy…the other sites have real comments…you know numbers that actually matter…and besides i have never heard anyone else go on and on about the ‘number’ of comments. it’s quality not quantity in the rest of the world. and here you are always bitching about ‘big box’ stores. why….honey…you are the WALMART of blogs.
and you wonder why, when people think of democrats, they think vote fraud. you guys will even lie to yourselves…and is there anything sadder than that?

We’re not afraid of Puddybud’s speech. We’re annoyed by it. We don’t censor people for political views, but there’s a basic level of decency that we expect here. Calling a rapist “one of us”, then lying about it, then refusing to provide an adequate explanation for any of that is below that basic level.

oh…i get it. the operative word is “we”…meaning YOU, natch. if it offends you then it must go.
sheesh……this blog gets more ridiculous daily…….
    oh, i know i know…if i don’t like it blah blah blah…..
it seems as if i am not the only one that is getting bored with goldy’s latest get out of [any] work scheme. the three twits. writers [of interest] you are not.
although when goldy started whining about how tired he was after a WHOLE NINE DAYS OF WORK!!!! i couldn’t stop laughing ,so you are all still good for a laugh.
btw…i know you are about five seconds old in the big scheme of things but you should know that this classic line of yours “We don’t censor people for political views, but…” is something the KGB endorsed heavily too.
could you have used any more royal “we’s” in there?
    i don’t think so………
