    Meth addiction is usually not a long-term problem. Typically, death cures the addiction in fairly short order.

    Not necessarily. Both Winston Churchill and John F. Kennedy used amphetamines. Meth is just a variation on those same amphetamines. The reason why meth is so dangerous today is because their purity is extremely high (due to the fact that the industry is controlled by criminals who actually want it to be as addictive as possible) as opposed to before we starting trying to criminalize the behavior in the 60s.

    That’s awful, Roger, and I’m sorry to hear that. What I’m hoping to do with my blogging is to raise awareness to the fact that the danger comes from prohibition, much moreso than it comes from the drugs themselves. Amphetamine use was quite safe before the government decided that it needed to step in and make people’s decisions for them. I’ve decided to devote my life to making this very important point so that we can stop seeing so many lives destroyed.

    lee….amphetamine use was NEVER “quite safe” as you put it.it hurts the cause to make ridiculous claims like that and you should really know better. amphetamines by their very nature are not safe in any way. period.never have been, never will be. that’s just the way it is.

    In the United States in the 1950s, legally manufactured tablets of methamphetamine (a stronger form of amphetamine) were used non medically by college students, truck drivers, and athletes. These people usually did not become severely addicted, this was usually because the use was for a purpose other than recreational.

    I’m not saying that cocaine or amphetamines aren’t addictive. What I’m saying is that the number of deaths from amphetamines or cocaine is miniscule compared to two legal drugs, alcohol and nicotine. Tons of housewives throughout this nation’s history have been addicted to alcohol (and other drugs).

    All drugs have relative risks, but the deadliness of meth today is a result of drug prohibition, not the result of amphetamines in general being particularly dangerous.

The reason I brought up my old boss in another thread (Kenneth Freeman, the man who will stand trial soon in Spokane) was because he was a very staunch Republican, but I have never, ever thought about claiming that because of that, I can then say “all rapists must be Republicans!” That would be idiotic, but apparently that’s fine by you.

    You might want to diversify your goals a little. Don’t-put-all-your-eggs-in-one-basket stuff, ya know. For example, I’m trying to change the world by posting on HorsesAss.org, but if that doesn’t work out I still might have some stock market profits to fall back on, but if that doesn’t work out, there’s always the carrot garden out back.

    We’re not afraid of Puddybud’s speech. We’re annoyed by it. We don’t censor people for political views, but there’s a basic level of decency that we expect here. Calling a rapist “one of us”, then lying about it, then refusing to provide an adequate explanation for any of that is below that basic level.
