Last week’s contest was won by milwhcky. It was Covington, KY.
This week’s contest is related to something in the news in November, good luck!
And sadly, next week’s contest will be the last one, at least for a while. There are several reasons for this, but one is that I’m considering a new weekly feature for 2015 related to current events once again, something I haven’t had time to do in the past few years. Huge thanks to everyone who comes by each week to solve these. I’m always amazed by how hard I have to make these to stump you.

Hope I did the pasting of the link right…

So the reason next week is the last is what you say it is, and not that you know the planet is going to explode and you’re preparing to put your infant into a rocket ship?

That’s it! Good win!

There’s a second major reason, but it’s far less dramatic than the apocalypse. But I can’t say anything about it just yet.

I couldn’t remember what pointergate was at first. I did a search and found this investigation into the news station setting up the story interesting.

I’m glad nobody could see me holding a magnifying glass to the computer screen to confirm the license plates were of the Minnesota general color scheme… not very dignified. Also I have to point out that most neighborhood streets in MN have a lot more trees; places where get out the vote campaigns go on, however, not so much.

When I cropped the picture, I thought that the license plates might be a good clue.
I searched for about 10 minutes through a bunch of articles on pointergate trying to find its location. Then I thought, “maybe I should watch the video”. And the street sign of the location was in the first few seconds of the video.

The whole story is so embarrassing. Local news asses basically acting as PR for the police department and sliming the mayor. Says everything you need to know about why tragedies like Ferguson can still happen in 2014. No one has the courage to demand accountability from the police, let alone demand they treat minority communities with respect.
