First of all, he does his little grandstanding about not taking $98 million in raised unemployment benefits. But his state will be receiveing $7 billion from the Feds. So other than making it harder for the unemployed to feed their families, his little “make me president in 2012” gambit won’t do shit.
Second, he lies about why he doesn’t want to take the money. He says:

Additionally, as Jim Carville said on the a later Sunday news program, if he has the political courage, Jindal can lobby to lower unemployment payments in three years. I wouldn’t bet on him having that courage, but to insist that somehow it can’t be done at all is just another lie on top of the other ones.
But he’s taking $7 billion and making a stink over 2% of that amount as though he’s being so brave and principled.

Jindal is exemplary of what we can no doubt expect from the anything-but-loyal opposition for the next four years. Taking a clue from an overpaid, overweight, narcissistic drug addict, they’re going to do everything they can to drive the country into total ruin, in hopes they can convince what few Americans still have the strength to crawl to the polls to put them back in power.
The BIAW website seems to be having technical problems. I’ve looked at their site as recently as last week to see if they’d posted any newsletters but found nothing. In fact, it appeared that all previous newsletters had been removed last summer and that no new ones had been posted since. Is this one posted on their site?

From what I’ve been hearing, the projected budget for DoD for next year will be still be higher thatn it was under Dumbya, just not as big an increase in terms of percentage as in years past. I can’t see a serious problem in reducing the overall size of the military, so long as the troops we keep in active service aren’t squandered in wasteful, unnecessary wars-for-profit. Y’know, like the one my wife’s two sons were sent to (repeatedly) in Iraq…..

In the case of Rossi, there was a recount and the honest republican USA John McCay found that there was no credible evidence of fraud – instead, we had lots of republican carping and no evidence that held up in court.

A fund of hedge funds run by two members of Vice President Joe Biden’s family was marketed exclusively by companies controlled by Texas financier R. Allen Stanford, who is facing Securities and Exchange Commission accusations of engaging in an $8 billion fraud.
The $50 million fund was jointly branded between the Bidens’ Paradigm Global Advisors LLC and a Stanford Financial Group entity and was known as the Paradigm Stanford Capital Management Core Alternative Fund. Stanford-related companies marketed the fund to investors and also invested about $2.7 million of their own money in the fund, according to a lawyer for Paradigm. Paradigm Global Advisors is owned through a holding company by the vice president’s son, Hunter, and Joe Biden’s brother, James.
