It’s State of the Union season. So please join us this evening for a State of the Union under the influence edition of Seattle Chapter of Drinking liberally.
We meet every Tuesday at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E. Our normal starting time is 8:00 pm, but this week we start at 6:00 pm to catch the start of the SOTU address.
Of course we will be live-blogging the SOTU address from Drinking Liberally, so if you cannot make it to DL, join the discussion right here.
On another topic: Newt or Mitt?
Can’t make it tonight? There are also meetings on Tuesday evening of the Tri-Cities and Bellingham chapters. And Wednesday evening, the Burien chapter meets. So…with 230 chapters of Living Liberally, including twelve in Washington state and six more in Oregon, chances are excellent there’s one near you.

I’ll be at home enjoying a bottle of Dry Fly Wheat Whiskey while watching the state of the union address. This is gonna take way more whiskey than one should consume and be on the roads to get through.
Still, while I need a little lubrication to get through an Obama SOTU, I’d need to be shit faced for four years to get though a Gingrich presidency.

Michael @ # 1: I just saw a fun quote which you might enjoy, given your penchant for whiskey:
“I spent most of my money on fast horses, old whiskey and young women … the rest I just wasted.”

I love it.

Can’t be any worse than a year in Vietnam. Get stoned. That’s what Peter Lemon did. He probably doesn’t even remember single-handedly repulsing an enemy attack with only a machinegun and a few grenades, and is still wondering why they gave him that medal.

I’ve yet to be able to attend Drinking Liberally. I work in Bellevue and live in Everett, so it’s a bit out of the way to get there. Also, I’m now taking a foreign language class which meets on Tuesday nights. But have fun!
