I actually thought the Seattle Times wouldn’t endorse Susan Hutchison because whatever the ideological affinity, even they couldn’t bring themselves to endorse a candidate who is so spectacularly unprepared and unqualified to serve in such an important office.
I often speak of the Times ed board as a single entity, but I know this decision wasn’t unanimous, so if those ed board members who opposed Hutchison’s endorsement retain at least a shred of self-respect, they will make public who voted for whom, or whether the decision ultimately came mandated from union-busting publisher Frank Blethen himself.
But institutionally, they should be ashamed of themselves.
Whoa…
Adding insult to injury:

The only thing Dow is qualified to do is lie, and play politics with public safety.
Why not just call the editorial board racist, it’s what your side does for every other issue. All Dow can do is attempt to scare people by pointing out that she’s affiliated with *gasp* Republicans.
For those that don’t want to read Goldy’s entire post, let me summarize it for you:
Goldy is angry at people who do not think exactly like him.
One explanation: crossing their fingers behind their backs when issuing the endorsement.
That way the Times Ed Board members could maintain a tiny sliver of self-respect….
@3: You mean it doesn’t matter that Susan Hutchinson has no executive experience, no experience in politics, was on the board of the Discovery Institute (the people who don’t believe in evolution) and is lying about her campaign finances….but other than that there is nothing to pin on her except her inability to articulate any clear plan for the country or be honest about her far-right political views.
So yeah – I guess you are right….she really is qualified… to run for dog-catcher.
Here troll – I’ll make it easier for a dimwit like you….Goldy is angry at the hypocrisy of the Times….they often claim candidates are too unqualified to endorse…and then when have a truly unqualified candidate…they endorse them.
If you can’t get that from the post…then maybe you need to take a reading comprehension class.
Thanks for the “view from Moses Lake” again, bo.
And how hilarious is this bo quote:
Dude, catch a clue. Hutchison is the one who has been trying to hide/renounce her Republican affiliations. My God, Hutchison’s people even ran an intiative last year to make the office non-partisan, for the single purpose of electing a Republican. (when you can’t win…change the rules)
By bringing this subject up, you’re proving just how pathetic the GOP has become in King County.
How the hell does the Times expect to maintain what little viability it has left as a newspaper when its editorial views are so at odds with this community? Does Frank Blethen have a professional death wish?
Maybe we need to start a “Cancel your subscription” rally for the Times….got a spare teabag?
@9
The Times is at odds with the region? Isn’t Hutchison ahead in the polls?
It’s been a bad week for Constantine. The latest poll showing him down by 5%, the e-mail on him threatening to vote against the ferry district, the big negative advertising dump courtesy of Kemper Freedman and other assorted right-wingers, and now The Times.
I just saw his rather tepid “I’m with Dow” add. He hasn’t been shy about going negative on Hutchinson in debates, but his ads need to be much more hard-hitting if he’s to have any chance at all. The mail-in ballots have arrived, and people are voting. He needs to get nasty, and fast.
@12
Don’t forget the joint press conference with the Sheriff. That’s going to be awkward the next time Rahr testifies in front of the Council…
So, Troll, Hutchison’s lead in the polls, which is the product of her evasiveness and her familiar face, would indicate that King County is a conservative place? Is that what you’re saying?
I salute the Seattle Times for realizing the opponent is a proven liar. All that’s missing is for Joe Wilson to come over here and say to Dow: “YOU LIE!”
Because Dow… YOU LIE AND PEOPLE DIE!
Just read this expose for yourselves!!!!!
A perfect argument for a no newspaper town.

You might be right. It’s shrunk so much already that there’s little content. Throw in that its editorial board is composed of delusional teabaggers, and little justification for its continued existence is apparent.
Goldy, I have to chide you on wondering whether the “Times” would really endorsed an unqualified airhead for one of the most difficult and complex offices in our state.
Ahhh, I dropped my subscription in 2000 when they endorsed an incompetent, lying, village idiot from Texas who lied about his moderate political outlooks, his commitment to bipartisanship, and his qualifications to be, uhhh, President of the USA. How is that one working out for us?
I sent a letter outlining eight major policy positions he disagreed with their stated editorial board position on, several major issues he lied outright about, (Support patient bill of rights, when he vetoed it, etc, etc) and several other issues. But all I learned was it was Blethens four, others three. I wonder how this vote went?
Gee, Suzie Q hides her political affiliations, lies about her shady friends, has a problem telling the truth, and is not competent to be mayor of Beaux Arts, but they endorse her anyway. Sounds very familiar to me. Why are you surprised?
Thank you Goldy for reading the Seattle Times so we don’t have to.
So the Seattle Times chooses someone who pizzez off the HA Libtardo faithful. Free country free choices. Another bad local day for the HA freakshow. Dow’s ferry email is damning. No way to defend on that. That is a political calamity.
ylb arschloch admits he trusts others to read for him. No wonder he drinks any kook-aid put in front of him.
@6 You forgot to mention she got fired for insubordination when she was working for someone else. If she can’t follow orders as an employee, it’s a safe bet she’ll be completely out of control as a boss.
@20 Oh, and you Republican slimeballs have never engaged in that kind of political horsetrading? As I recall you traitors held the whole federal government hostage.
‘a candidate who is so spectacularly unprepared and unqualified to serve’
Ironic coming from you Goldy, with your twice obsessive backing of The Darcy who definitely fits the above description.
If I-1033 passes and Hutchinson wins, I’ll be eagerly waiting for the sound of your head exploding.
damn…what a bunch of crybabies…all because the paper didnt endorse THEIR candidate…
for fucks sake – grow a sack.
@23 – You want to compare Burner with Hutchinson? Okay, then. One has an advanced business degree from a major university, and held management responsibilities at the largest software company in the world. The other has, as far as I can tell, been hiding under her bed for most of the campaign season. Before that, she held a job that required that she show up and read the news. And be likeable. Even that was, apparently, too much responsibility for her, so she got fired–after she lied to her bosses about why she couldn’t be bothered to show up to her job. Yeah, she’s a real keeper, that one.
You really shouldn’t mention “underqualified” and “Susan Hutchinson” in the same post. They are naturally drawn to one another.
@23 “Darcy … definitely fits the above description”
Oh, I wouldn’t say that. She did something in 3 weeks the entire Republican Party couldn’t figure out for 6 years, which was come up with a plan to bring our troops home from Iraq.
Ya know Mark, sometimes I think you post here just because you like to smell your own farts.
@24 yawn
I understand the race is close, which is why Blethen is shoring up Suzie, and she might even win if the GOP Party can get enough of its rubber stamps to mail their ballots. Hell, she might even win. If she does, King County government will be the same clusterfuck the entire nation was for the last 8 years. I’m not looking forward to that. But the carnage might be worth it, if it teaches voters to look past phony “nonpartisan” labels to see if what they’re getting is really a Republican disguised in moderate clothing.
Feral Dumb Wabbit,
And that really got Darcy somewhere eh? Just like her hugging “bunnies” really helped her cause!
The irony is that Goldy overlooks the irony of comparing Hutchison’s record to Obama’s. Obama has NO experience in anything other than campaigning. Hutchison, at least, has held real jobs.
Democrats have been making to justify the possibility of going it alone, without GOP votes. ,
