Sen. Rodney Tom (faux D-48) is all about “bipartisan coalitions.” This lede suggests he has been quite an inspiration:
GOP and Democrats unite to fight Rodney Tom’s plan to erase parents’ ability to save for state college tuition through a state program. But the House effort carries a price tag.
I think Sen. Tom has a future filled with such coalitions….
Now that Tom’s constituents have seen his true colors, let us hope his current term of office will be his last.
If the republican legislators don’t value education, what do they value, that they want spend state money on? What IS important?
Are they perfectly willing to be come the next Louisiana if that would mean they didn’t have to fund anything?
“Are they perfectly willing to be come the next Louisiana if that would mean they didn’t have to fund anything?”
Yes.
The right wing loves backwaters.. Look at Spain under Franco or any other tinpot fascist dicatorship..
They’re all the same.. A few at the top own and control almost everything.. Bloated military and police state apparatus. Widespread poverty.. Tiny middle class in thrall to the status quo.
That’s what the baggers want.
Hell, if you want to see a “run” on redemption of GET units, the most sure-fire way to do so is put out the word that the program’s under the axe.
@2 I hereby predict the increasing popularity of Zydeco music in these parts.
re 6: I’ve seen Rockin’ Dopsey and the Zydeco Kings a time or two and I guarantee you it’s a better time than, say, attending a concert of the mucho self-important prog rockers, Yes.
