Did Obama just wrap up the Democratic nomination? Is Hillary’s gas tax relief a bunch of hot air? Would raising the gas tax be the responsible thing to do? Are Democrats dismissing Dino Rossi at their own peril?
Goldy and friends engage in some friendly sparring but, as the evening wore on, nearly ended up in a death fight over these and other big issues of the moment at the Montlake Ale House. Goldy was joined by blogging pioneer N in Seattle, the lovely, talented, and hard-working Molly, Seattle P-I columnist Joel Connelly, and HorsesAss personality Carl Ballard.
The show is 46:04, and is available here as an MP3 file.

“Did Obama just wrap up the Democratic nomination?”
No, but the odds are very long against Hillary now. Visualize a racehorse hoping the horse in front of her breaks both legs before reaching the wire …
"Hannah" spews:
Roger – unfortunately if Clintons get her way with Florida and Michigan, she may keep up this charade. ARGH!
Mr. Cynical spews:
Big Night–
Sure sorry I missed this!
Did you ask any of the participating KLOWNS if they were as dumb as you are Goldy in driving with worn-out tires??
Jane Balough's Dog spews:
Before we have closure I don’t think it would hurt to have an investigation into Michigan and Florida to see what their impact would be if they were counted. But before that we need to investigate Florida for hanging chads and military votes. If there are any military votes for a dem you know there has got to be fraud.

You mean…just after she finishes second behind…um…ahhh…Big Brown?
Roger Rabbit spews:
@2 I can see where a wingnut like you would feel that Americans living in Michigan and Florida shouldn’t be allowed to vote in their own country.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@3 Typical arrogant Republican ass who can’t relate to people who can’t afford new tires.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@4 Yes, this time we Democrats will make sure military votes are counted so you Rethugs can’t steal another election.
“A confidential campaign directed by GOP party chiefs in October 2004 sought to challenge the ballots of tens of thousands of voters in the last presidential election, virtually all of them cast by residents of Black-majority precincts.
“Files from the secret vote-blocking campaign were obtained by BBC Television Newsnight, London. They were attached to emails accidentally sent by Republican operatives to a non-party website.
“One group of voters wrongly identified by the Republicans as registering to vote from false addresses: servicemen and women sent overseas.
“Here’s how the scheme worked: The RNC mailed these voters letters in envelopes marked, ‘Do not forward’, to be returned to the sender. These letters were mailed to servicemen and women, some stationed overseas, to their US home addresses. The letters then returned to the Bush-Cheney campaign as ‘undeliverable.’ The lists of soldiers of ‘undeliverable’ letters were transmitted from state headquarters … to the RNC in Washington. The party could then challenge the voters’ registration and thereby prevent their absentee ballots being counted. …
“A soldier returning home in time to vote in November 2004 could also be challenged on the basis of the returned envelope. Soldiers challenged would be required to vote by ‘provisional’ ballot. Over one million provisional ballots cast in the 2004 race were never counted; over half a million absentee ballots were also rejected. The extraordinary rise in the number of rejected ballots was the result of the widespread multi-state voter challenge campaign by the Republican Party.”

Are you saying Goldy couldn’t even afford new tires?? I doubt that.
Seems like you are the typical bleeding-heart LEFTY making excuses for Goldy’s ACTIONS & CHOICES!!
Touche!
Roger Rabbit spews:
@9 Typical Republican: Votes for McGavick, who wanted to lower the minimum wage to $2.13 per hour, then claims poverty is a “choice”!!
"Hannah" spews:
@10 I didn’t read up too much on McGavick back when he was running. Did he really want to lower the minimum wage??? Where can I find that tidbit?
Daddy Love spews:
11 H
It’s the same old “minimum wage for tipped employees” issue.
"Hannah" spews:
@12 Thanks DL, I will look it up. I had no idea he proposed that! SICK!
Daddy Love spews:
It’s over, and Hillary knows it as well as anyone. She can’t catch him in pledged delegates. She has been unsuccessful pulling more superdelegates over; in fact, more superdelegates are declaring for Obama. Howard Dean has made it clear that Florida and Michigan are not getting seated under the current conditions. You know because they, like, didn’t follow the fucking rules. If some accommodation can be reached that does not affect the race, then they may be seated sort of honorarily.
What we’ll see over the next few weeks are attempts to ratchet down the tensions of the previous few weeks, as even Hillary makes a few concessions to party unity leading up to the convention/general election.
"Hannah" spews:
@14 Unless more superdelegates do this:
Hilary can afford it can’t she?
Daddy Love spews:
I kinda has to refresh my memory on that one. So this was before Democrats had the majority in 2006. They got a bill to increase the minumum wage passed in the House, and there was enough support for raising the minimum wage in an elextion year that it could have passed the Senate, but the Senate Republicans added a bunch of crap amendments such as extending the temporary repeal of the estate tax and adding a provision that could override state law and force a pay cut for employees who receive tips.
So there you go. McGavick comes out in support of that Senate bill (while he’s not in the Senate), but Democrats are blaming him for wanting to decrease the minimum wage for tipped employees. Meanwhile, because Maria Cantwell ultimately voted AGAINST this crappy bill, Republicans attacked HER for opposing the minimum wage.
Daddy Love spews:
It was pretty typical Republican reverse jiu-jitsu with the truth, and voters saw though it because Maria Cantwell crushed Mike! McGavick in 2006.
"Hannah" spews:
That’s the problem in our government, when they put a bill together, they seem to like to add on other “issues” or “amendments” that have little or nothing to do with the initial bill. I believe if they focused bills on SINGLE issues, we, as voters, would get a much better perspective on things.
