There is a problem going around Seattle. I have seen it a few times now, but I suspect that bus drivers and regular bus commuters see it more than me. I refer, of course, to men — always men — who put their ORCA Card in their front pocket and then hump the card reader when they get on the bus.

What is? But. Why? Just don’t.

    This is an interesting and probably important story. It has everything. The Blue Code of coverup, a Union fighting to deep bad employees on the job (Police Unions areamong the few Unions that are extremely Conservative GOP activists) and a Sherrod who is fighting them to do the right thing.

    It was a critical piece of evidence: an inmate’s shirt, bloodied from a jailhouse brawl.

    When it went missing, Deputy Jose Ovalle had an idea.

    He picked out a similar shirt, doused it with taco sauce and snapped a photograph, which was booked into evidence with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, law enforcement records show.

    When confronted later, the deputy admitted to faking the blood.

    Ovalle kept his job, but his name was placed on a secret Sheriff’s Department list that now includes about 300 deputies with histories of dishonesty and similar misconduct, a Los Angeles Times investigation has found.

    Brady lists aren’t really supposed to be secret. Virtually every law enforcement agency keeps at least one. They just aren’t always made public. Remember that if you are ever in a criminal scrape or a civil dispute involving LE. In most states, if you ask for Brady information on any LE witness during discovery and it isn’t produced, you have grounds for appeal and more.

    Under Brady doctrine the state doesn’t have to pre-screen everything and find it for you. But they do have to make it available at least. Obviously most law enforcement agencies are loathe to grant outsiders open access to their disciplinary personnel records involving lies, fraud, or obstruction. So they have to dig it out themselves. Thus we get the lists. An easily searchable database of all the stuff the state might have to disclose.

Nothing that Mueller has discovered will make it into public light. Voters will be left to speculate as to the sweep and severity of the Republican conspiracy. Trump will continue to be Trump. Good and decent people will continue to be insulted and degraded. Team Fuckface will continue to loot the federal treasury while talking about “draining the swamp”. In-bred, sister-fucking Republican voters spurred on by paid con artists like Hannity will conclude that the FBI and DOJ are corrupt politically motivated “Deep State” actors bent on stamping out “Trumpism” and happily nominate him for a second term in 2020.     Meanwhile, there are eleventh-hour signs the tax bill could be in trouble. They’re about to lose Sen. Collins’ vote, after Ryan made it clear the leadership intends to renege on the promises it made to her. If Corker holds firm, that would leave them with no Senate votes to spare, and if Doug Jones overcomes the sister-fucking hillbilly bloc next Tuesday, Trump doesn’t have a tax bill at all. Even if he doesn’t, and the GOP retains that seat, Rubio’s vote is in play. And who knows, some other reps and senators might look at the polls, see how wildly unpopular this bill is, and decide to jump ship simply as a matter of self-preservation. It’s not a done deal yet.
