I’ve been hanging out at (un)Sound Politics a bit and I have to say that we may be wrong some times, we may be potty-mouthed back-room brawlers at times, but we are not engaged fundamentally dishonest practices like Stephan and his crew are.
I’d really like to have a two (or more) party system, but the crazies and the fundamental dishonesty that are practiced by the likes of the (un)Sound Politics Crew, The Evergreen Freedom Foundation, the BIAW and so on means that a large part of the right will continue to be, largely, irrelevant and impossible for most of us to ever work with.

@15: Well, it’s hard to tell sometimes with the Koch brothers (second-generation Birchers from way back) funding the main parts of the Tea Party (and probably other secretive groups–hard to tell where billionaires are putting their political cash unless, like Soros, they choose to be open about it). They’ve gotten Scalia and Thomas in their pockets too, so we may never get a chance to figure out exactly how much of the Tea Party they’ve purchased and Birch-ified.
Of course, groups like the Tea Party Express are just extensions of the GOP, so they’re probably not as extreme as the Birchers. At least not yet.
