Here’s a scenario for Piddles as a mental excercise.
There is a disease called MITO. It is now detectable in the womb. Children born with it are often, though not always, born with some severe deformity (deafness, paralysis, Blindness) though not all. Very close to 90% children born with MITO do not live to be adults. 99% of children born with Mito will not live to be 21. It is degenerative and progressive and can be quite painful.
If a family finds out their unborn child has MITO during the third trimester but the mother’s health is not in danger, should the state say that they must give birth to that child even if they are not in a financial posisiton to ccover the cost of the disease? What if they feel they are not emotionally prepared to have a child they are almost certain they will have to bury before they graduate high school. Should they under no circumstance be allowed to make that choice?

Bear in mind, that Police Officers are hired specifically on their ability to use a weapon in reaction to threats of violence. It is also well established that the presence of a firearm in an altercation exponentially increases the probability of violence, just by being present at the scene.
That man was murdered in cold blood by a Police Officer, for the crime of making eye contact with that Police Officer who perceived that eye contact as a hostile and threatening act, and reacted accordingly. He was a murderer, looking for the right opportunity to commit a murder, knowing full well that the correct circumstance would permit him to take a human life without being held to account for it in the eyes of the law.
