Sometime this weekend I’ll upgrade HA with an all new look and a handful of the new features I’ve been working on.  Just thought you should know.

Other than that, talk amongst yourselves.

Going to be that drastic, eh? You might not want to give us overblown, unrealistic expectations, in case, you know, some bugs make you have to revert to the old template. ;-)

    Hey, Mr. Cynical:

How’s your McDonald’s and Intuitive Surgical stock plays doing???

Told you those were sorry assssssss picks. You are no investor that’s for sure. You have no idea when a stock is topping (ISRG) or when the CEO of a company is selling off of his stake in the company he runs (MCD).

Your ISRG call demonstrates your lack of Technical evaluations and your MCD pick shows you don’t get Fundamentals.

You need those two skills to be a stock picker. Otherwise, you’re just a gambler.

You, you’re just a pathetic liar.

What is different is that Clinton is campaigning to be the First Hubby while insisting he can maintain an independent foreign policy for pay.

FWIW he has also served as a paid lobbyist for the Ports of Dubai affair and has said he intends to continue in this role of Hillary is elected.

Leaving all other issues aside, the demo party ought to demand that he commit to dropping all such activities if she is elected. The fact that she and he wold even tolerate such behavior while she is running for President says some very disturbing things about their shared disregard for how the rest of us feel.

Between this and her racist misuse of the Jeremiah Wright issue, I have lost to considerable respect I once had for her. I hope for all our sakes she loses in PA and get discouraged enough from politics to join her husband’s foundation. My guess is that the Foundation does a lot of good without requirring a Caesar’s wife mentality.

    In the meantime:

This is exactly the sort of thing Dino Rossi needs to do if he wants traction vs. Gregoire. As the Radical Repubs sink with the GW Bush ship, there is an opportunity to launch a Reform Repubs Party that incorporates the likes of Snegger, Bloomberg, Buffet and .. yes bubbelah, BOTH Lieberman and Hagel.

I do not McCain can effectiley lead such an effort, BUT his presidency. like that of Barry Goldwater, could be used by others as a tool to remake the party. To my knowledge the only such national movement is by Gingrich. While it is easy to discount that porky pig, Newt is pretty much amoral. So, if things go the way they seem to be heading. John McCain will make a noble but losing effort while il Newt pulls a Clinton, reorganizes and retasks the party arounf fiscla conservatism /c social discipline. TGhe platform of such a party might read:

    1. reduce the trade deficit
    2. exploit US Energy reserves in uranium shale, coal and oil.
    3. Charter schools. merit scholarships.
    4. fiscal conservativism
    5. tax reform
    6. freedom OF religion not from religion
    7. tight borders
    8. flags and babies and apple pie.

SAN DIEGO – California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says that if an initiative to ban gay marriage qualifies for the November ballot, he’s prepared to fight it.

California’s governor spoke Friday in San Diego at the convention of the Log Cabin Republicans, the nation’s largest gay Republican group.

He has previously vetoed bills that would have legalized gay marriage. A Schwarzenegger spokeswoman did not say what prompted the governor to shift his position.

Schwarzenegger said he was confident a ban would never pass in California and called the effort “a waste of time.”

The Dalai Lama’s visit accomplished one thing, anyway: The wingnuts now think maybe separation of church and state isn’t always a bad idea — there may be exceptions. Such as anytine a NON-CHRISTIAN speaks to schoolkids about non-wingnut values like COMPASSION.

“Melissa Jones is a Christian. Patricia Gorham isn’t affiliated with any particular religion. [Translation: member of fundie cult — RR] But both women have the same concern about Seattle Public Schools arranging for their children to hear the Dalai Lama speak Monday.

“‘It’s a public school, and we’re having a religious leader come and speak to our kids,’ Gorham said. ‘While I think he has great ideas about compassion — don’t get me wrong — it’s a bit of the principle of the thing, I guess.’

“Their kids … could be among 14,500 schoolchildren … to hear the Dalai Lama’s message of compassion at KeyArena. …

“Gorham and Jones say they’ll probably allow their kids to attend the event, but as they mulled over their permission slips this week, they questioned whether a religious leader can deliver a completely secular message, as school districts and Seeds of Compassion leaders say he will. Would the pope, they wondered, be received as warmly and without question?”

Actually, I was in Phx about the time all this was going on with regards to:
    This mountain is known as
    [ ] 1. Squaw Peak
    [ ] 2. Piestawa Peak

My Sis (a staunch Democratic, I raised her nicely) was telling me what all the whoopla was about it. Apparently for MANY years, maybe decades, the town had been trying to rename some highway (I think it was renaming to ?Goldwater Blvd?). Back and forth, many hearings and rejections for so many years.

THEN suddenly, after all the Jessica Lynch stuff going down, within a VERY few weeks it was being decided to rename this mountain “Piestawa Peak” with little discussion. Everyone felt like it was being rammed down their throats in an attempt to glorify Bush’s War of Choice. I don’t think it’s merely a matter of racism but more a matter of the process that many people were objecting to for a major landmark. Think many people down there get tired of all the political correctness being heaved at them, too.

  14. 26

    Roger Rabbit spews:

@25 From this distance, the idea of renaming a local hill formerly known as “Squaw Peak” after her doesn’t seem like a bad idea. She wasn’t a politician. I don’t blame the war on her. Did her death get used by the warmongers? Maybe a little, but then, they used everyone and everything to further their own ends.

  15. 27

    Roger Rabbit spews:

I just find it ironic (and iconic) that opposition to renaming “Squaw Peak” after a Native American casualty of Bush’s recreational war in Iraq would come from Republicans. Naturally.

Goldwater doesn’t need a street named after him. He already has a department store named after him. (snicker)

If one is calling someone something particularly offensive, it is only common courtesy to stop. That’s not “political correctness.” That term seems to exist solely to excuse (and encourage) racism, sexism and other offenses against our common humanity.

    Puddybud spews:

Pelletizer, as always, proves he’s a dingbat when he leaves law topics.

The Dalai Lama issue is about who chooses whom to speak. Why the Dalai Lama and not Dr. Billy Graham? How about his son Franklyn Graham? Franklyn runs the compassionate operation Samaritan’s Purse which delivers Christmas shoe boxes to poor children around the world during the holiday season. The Puddy Family participates mightily in that endeavor becuz Puddy knows poor.

If Dr Graham was selected to speak to the students with a “secular message” of compassion would he be acceptable to the headless lucys’ of Seattle Skuuls? Separation of Church and state isn’t in the US Constitution but is a concept the liberals will break at any time as necessary to deliver their ideals. So Pelletizer if the Dalai Lama is acceptable:

How about Robert Schuller or Robert Schuller Jr of the Crystal Cathedral fame. Surely y’all heard them preach.

How about Dr. Jeremiah Wright? Will he be bellicose? Will he talk about compassion on why his $1.6 million home in white suburbia?

How about Dr Frederick Price? He ordained Joel Osteen. Fiery preacher who knows the Word of God.

How about Joel Osteen? He preaches love and compassion without hardly ever opening the Bible. Would he be acceptable?

How about Joyce Meyer? Female Preacher, political correctness taken care of with a woman?

Let’s go local. How about Ken Hutcherson? Goldy would be front a center protesting that choice.

So let’s submit Casey and Wendy Treat. You get two for one and they are husband and wife.

We all know the ACLU would be all over those choices like BBGoober in a manure pile. Wait a minute… BBGoober lives in a manure pile.

@34-so I post FACTS. And that is “less credibility”? Yeah we know you support HRC, but come on, give us all a break. Obama will slaughter her all over the map, because he is running an honest, don’t throw lies and dirty punches, campaign. He is far and few betweeen any typical politician.

    Marvin Stamn spews:

    @35 Hannah, ignore sempersimper. It’s really headless lucy. He’s a big-time racist!

He insists that it’s hard to be around blacks 24/7. I was on the road with the temptations for a bit, being around blacks didn’t bother me. But then, unlike headless, I’m not a racist.

I don’t want you to think I’m blaming headless, it was taught to him by his racist parents. He was a little kid, he didn’t know better. But as an adult it is his responsibility to grow/mature and rid himself of the bad shit his parents put into his head.

    Marvin Stamn spews:

@35 Hannah, if you notice headless is so racist he can’t even allow himself to ever vote for a black.
