- Crazy ass guesses about what Bertha ran into

- So it turns out selfish assholism isn’t a great way to run one of America’s premier brands.

- Yesterday I said our being near the top of signups for health care should probably be divided against state population. Here’s that, and it’s less yay Washington and more yay Vermont.

- I don’t know the difference between taxes and fees in the budget deal either. Maybe we can have a high earners income fee in this state?

- Boeing chief meets with union reps who opposed 777X deal (Seattle Times link)

- I’m digging Joe Posnanski’s 100 greatest baseball players list. Especially the ones I haven’t heard of.

Well I hope the selfish asshole doesn’t completely destroy Sears. I would hate to see it go under.

The Hawaii official who released Obama’s long-form birth certificate was killed in a plane crash today.

I’m sure we’re only hours, if not minutes, away from the first rightwing conspiracy theories hitting the blogosphere.

HA posting is insufferably sticky again this morning. I suppose it’s too much to hope this blog will ever be fixed.

Did’ja hear the one about the Doctor who took out a full page ad saying he was quitting because of Obamacare?

He doesn’t use a computer and the mandate for electronic records keeping was so horrific that he just shut it down. Thanks Socialism,

Because this is 1995 and in a life threatening emergency I expect the E.R. to have to get Dr. Flintstone on the line to read my chart over the phone.

I also think It’s my God Given RIGHT as an American to sit and read Highlights in the waiting room while they wait for the 23 page fax to come over from the office of Marcus Welby, M.D.

@5 He doesn’t need no stinkin’ medical records to treat his patients. All he needs is a stethoscope and a jar of leeches.

Meanwhile, the rightwing troglodytes who run Michigan’s legislature took a step closer today to turning Michigan into a fascist state:

Roger Rabbit Commentary: Just don’t live in states run by Republicans, that’s all. Let them have their Wingnut Enclaves — no taxes, no paved roads, no public schools, no parks or libraries, no unions, no minimum wage, no health insurance or pensions, and above all no abortion providers. It’s really not a problem, because you don’t want the $1-a-day sweatshop jobs those states’ economies will offer, anyway. Let the survivalists and militia freaks attracted by the fishing and hunting live off the land; they’ll have to, because they won’t be able to make a living in what’s left of the money-based economy. Living in a hunting-and-gathering culture will keep them busy enough so they won’t have time to plot the overthrow of the federal government.

8. Roger Rabbit spews:

Liberals driven out of Wingnut Enclaves will need to go somewhere, so they’ll come to states like ours, which with even more liberal voters than we already have will become Liberal Enclaves. After half the population of Michigan moves here, we should have no trouble passing a $15 minimum wage and a state income tax on Two Percenters. What’s left of the GOP here will be overwhelmed by the influx of lefty voters. Then we can set about the serious business of gentrifying and bluing Eastern Washington, until eventually all our counties will have Democratic county commissioners, paved roads, libraries with books in them, 24-hour drive-thru abortion clinics, and pot stores.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has been in the middle of Operation Quick Strike, an investigation into unsafe bus and trucking companies. 52 were shut down over 8 months.

Affluenza? Are you kidding me?

“His defense lawyers cited “affluenza” – a lifestyle where wealth bough privilege and there were no consequences for bad behavior.”

So let me get this right, the judge agreed that because the kid was raised with no consequences for bad behavior, therefore the kid should continue to have no consequences for his bad behavior that killed people?

Even the KVI host, who never says anything bad about the wealthy, was objecting to this!

FYI. Judge Jean Boyd is a Republican judge.

How, exactly, do self-interested executives, politicians, and pundits convince an entire society to turn against its elders? Here’s how: By dismissing the value of a lifetime’s work once it’s done. By calling seniors selfish if they expect their government to honor its part of a bargain they kept for half a century. By convincing frightened Americans that their financial problems were caused, not by Wall Street, but by the bus drivers on their city streets and the teachers in their children’s schools.

Wasn’t that Serial “I’m not a racist, I just tell racist jokes” Conn’s argument to justify breaking pension contracts?

Evidence is surfacing that Lance Armstrong didn’t only cheat by using performance-enhancing drugs; there are new allegations that he also was involved in fixing races and bribing rivals to throw races.

@10 Make him and George Zimmerman live on the same block for a year.

Ha! Zimmerman
