Roger Rabbit Commentary: Just don’t live in states run by Republicans, that’s all. Let them have their Wingnut Enclaves — no taxes, no paved roads, no public schools, no parks or libraries, no unions, no minimum wage, no health insurance or pensions, and above all no abortion providers. It’s really not a problem, because you don’t want the $1-a-day sweatshop jobs those states’ economies will offer, anyway. Let the survivalists and militia freaks attracted by the fishing and hunting live off the land; they’ll have to, because they won’t be able to make a living in what’s left of the money-based economy. Living in a hunting-and-gathering culture will keep them busy enough so they won’t have time to plot the overthrow of the federal government.
Liberals driven out of Wingnut Enclaves will need to go somewhere, so they’ll come to states like ours, which with even more liberal voters than we already have will become Liberal Enclaves. After half the population of Michigan moves here, we should have no trouble passing a $15 minimum wage and a state income tax on Two Percenters. What’s left of the GOP here will be overwhelmed by the influx of lefty voters. Then we can set about the serious business of gentrifying and bluing Eastern Washington, until eventually all our counties will have Democratic county commissioners, paved roads, libraries with books in them, 24-hour drive-thru abortion clinics, and pot stores.
