Christmas spirit: 100 rally to repair NE Portland church vandalized by SUV driver
By midmorning, a pile of the splintered pews lay stacked next to the Nativity scene at the edge of church parking lot. A dozen people unfolded metal chairs in the sanctuary, while others swept and scrubbed the floors.
The sound of saws and drills filled the air. Men on ladders and with tape measures hung plywood over damaged walls and corners.
…
Ratigan stood and watched the hive of activity unfolding in front of him.
Finally, he said: “I think they’ll be ready by tonight.”
The gift of Hillary 2016 will likely never wear out. I’m good.

The middle class got student deferments, and the rich — well, are you kidding? They sent other people’s kids to die in the jungles of Southeast Asia.
They also sent their unruly kids to self-described “military academies” to pound a little discipline into them, but in this context, the term “military” is merely a label for a format these private schools imitated, and had nothing to do with service or country.

Over the past five years, the Emerald City has seen an explosion of homelessness, crime, and addiction. In its 2017 point-in-time count of the homeless, King County social-services agency All Home found 11,643 people sleeping in tents, cars, and emergency shelters. Property crime has risen to a rate two and a half times higher than Los Angeles’s and four times higher than New York City’s. Cleanup crews pick up tens of thousands of dirty needles from city streets and parks every year.
At the same time, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal, the Seattle metro area spends more than $1 billion fighting homelessness every year. That’s nearly $100,000 for every homeless man, woman, and child in King County, yet the crisis seems only to have deepened, with more addiction, more crime, and more tent encampments in residential neighborhoods.

If the thin, shallow, not-officially-corroborated reporting from McClatchy surrounding the Steele Dossier outrages you, how is it then that the confirmed, corroborated, legally sworn filings in federal court by Mueller (and other U.S. Attorneys) remain “unconvincing”?
McClatchy is engaging in uncorroborated speculation citing unnamed sources speaking off the record. The SCO court filings, while limited and redacted, are nevertheless the work product of career prosecutors bound by statute and oath, that directly implicate the Republican President, his campaign managers and advisers, and his immediate family members in unlawful foreign espionage activities.
Mueller had Cohen’s phones in April. He knows everything.
The collusion has been right out in the open all along.

104,
As far as the legal case, and the McClatchy reporting, the Steele Dossier is at this late point, entirely irrelevant.
But it remains very, very relevant, and important to the treasonous Republican President and the voters/enablers/party hacks he holds in his thrall.
If you study President Bankruptcy’s history of criminal and civil violations a clear pattern emerges that is rather familiar to prosecutors and plaintiff’s attorneys. He latches onto a minor, and quite often entirely irrelevant flaw or inconsistency and then tries to bloviate it into something global and fatal. “I didn’t bay your $8 million excavating contract because one day I got mud on my shoes”.
Sadly this can actually be a successful strategy in some criminal/civil defenses. Recall “If the glove does not fit…” And insofar as President Treason and his band of party hack stooges are concerned they are merely playing for public opinion and political survival, not any legal standard.
But as I’ve said before, the Steele Dossier is essentially irrelevant. It was neither the first point of contact for any criminal counter espionage investigation into the Republican Presidential campaign, nor has it survived to form the nexus of any of the multiple developing criminal prosecutions. For example, in this case, Mueller had all of Cohen’s fucking phones at least as far back as April, along with a trove of other very, very incriminating documents. If he had probable cause for warrants to obtain the phones and documents, then he had probable cause to obtain warrants for the phone records from the service providers – no five-eyes assistance needed or requested.
But pretending that the Dossier matters plays to the Treason PR defense. They need it to continue in the media. Because “Hillary Paid For It”!!! Etc. Because Steele failed to capitalize “ukraine!!!” Etc. It is all of a piece because they did the crimes and they know that Mueller has all the evidence.
All of this is, and has been, right out in the open all along. No sleuthing by access pimp journalists from McClatchy required. The crimes are all right out in the open, and yet the media continue to play this stupid game for the sake of protecting the butt-hurt feels of the 63 million racist traitors who put the criminals in charge.

The illegal immigrant fugitive who was wanted in the murder of a California police officer was taken into custody on Friday after being on the run for more than two days, according to an official, who made the case that the fatal encounter may have been preventable.
As for whether Singh’s death was preventable, Christianson noted that had law enforcement previously been able to report the suspect to Immigration and Customs Enforcement because of his criminal record, the loss of life might never have occurred.
“While we absolutely need to stay focused on Officer Singh’s service and sacrifice, we can’t ignore the fact that this could’ve been preventable,” Christianson said. “And under SB54 in California, based on two arrests for DUI and some other active warrants that this criminal has out there, law enforcement would’ve been prevented, prohibited from sharing any information with ICE about this criminal gang member. Ladies and gentlemen, this is not how you protect a community.”

Most Americans can’t even name the 50 States if shown a map…why does anyone think that their confidence level is derived from anything meaningful and not knee jerk reactions.
I’m not saying that Consumer Confidence doesn’t mean anything, I just don’t think it represents the economy of the present.
But its not good for the economy for Consumers to hold back because the stock market didn’t go their way yesterday. Idiots only make it worse.

The problem is simply that 63 million racist white tribalists are perfectly willing to abandon their national allegiance and ignore the law for the sake of ButteryMales/PizzaCanibalism.
This is really “the status quo” of Republicans from now on.

@101. They don’t see themselves as traitors because THEIR american is being destroyed. Their sense of privilege over others is being eroded. They feel they are being forced to let women, minorities, gays cheat get front of them in line to the good life. They feel they are being forced to treat Others as equals or even their betters when it’s obvious they are not, because Others are not them. They don’t care what the republicans and Russia do, so long as republicans and Russia stroke their feelings of grievance. All that matters to them is revenge and greed., that’s all they have left.
If there was one thing that would have to most impact to change this, it would be the muzzling of the alt right, radio and TV media.

WTF!? spews:

Roger Rabbit spews:
@108 Of course the Steele dossier doesn’t matter. As Trump himself explained, he could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue and the sister rapers would vote for him anyway. As the polls clearly demonstrate, about a third of the U.S. adult public doesn’t care about character, criminality, being lied to and taken advantage of, or anything else. That’s roughly the same proportion of the German populace who followed Hitler and helped him carry out his crimes against humanity. After all, somebody has to occupy the lower third of the bell curve.
