I thought I should post a few helpful tips for Scotty P whenever he gets done having a conversation with himself here, realizes that it’s just Nazis all the way down over on Xitter, and decides to create a Bluesky account.
1. Blocks are not bans. ActivityPub allows user accounts to block other user accounts. So on platforms like Mastodon or Bluesky or Threads, when you see that you’ve been blocked by another user that’s an action that the user took against you, Mr. Creepy Reply Guy, and not the platform. Stick around long enough and threaten enough women with rape or cutting off their tits and you’ll probably get banned. But when dozens of accounts block you in your first 30 minutes of account activity, that’s really just personal. It’s not “censorship”.
2. Bluesky only uses an AI algorithm to try to figure out what interests you and use that to populate your feed. There is no algorithm used to control how the rest of the users engage with your content. People either like it and share it and/or follow you or they don’t. And who likes your content is only relevant insofar as their followers are concerned. Your rage-bait and trolling won’t be any more likely to get engagement simply because you provoke other users, and will probably get you blocked or muted, reducing your engagement.
3. Other than follows and likes, Bluesky (just like Mastodon) uses hashtags to feed users things they’ve identified as being of interest to them. Some hashtags are very popular. Some not so much. So if you include hashtags #NAMBLA, #AUTOASPHYXIATION, #RAWDOGGING, #CHOKEFAP and #FELCHING in your posts to help drive more engagement, it just might not work out for you. You aren’t being “shaddow-banned” by the DEEP STATE. People just aren’t interested in you.
4. Unlike Xitter, Bluesky uses actual content moderation built around a stackable model of community mediated standards. That means that individuals and groups can build and implement their own filters. And any user can employ any filter and as many filters as they like, “stacking” them to limit their exposure to any kind of content. Now you might dismiss that and call it “an echo chamber” when you bitch about it back on Xitter with the other Nazis, but that’s just the way it is. So if you don’t want to wind up on a #NaziCrybaby filter stop posting or defending Nazis.
5. When you finally and quite inevitably do get around to threatening harm, terrorism, etc. and suffer a ban or get placed on a blocklist you can get reinstated or removed from the list. But in order to do that you’ll have to have an actual conversation with an actual human being. And some of those human beings are going to have “girl names” that you find triggering. But if you can’t control your reflexes and engage respectfully your efforts are probably going to fail.
6. This might not be a good community “fit” for you.
